We have so many planets in Aries, giving us a very big dose of this independent, passionate, direct, forthright, enthusiastic and impulsive sign! This is the first New moon of the astrological year, in the first sign of the zodiac, and this certainly feels like a threshold moment, a new chapter, a fresh start, a point of no return. Aries is the part of us that is willing to be brave enough to start something new. It is the pioneering spirit in all of us that has the courage to venture into uncharted territory and start fresh. Aries calls for us to follow our instinct and impulses, and not overthink things. It encourages us to act first and think later! Aries is the fire starter and the point of ignition which can spark new energy that has the potential to take hold and become a raging fire!

We have the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Chiron, Neptune and Eris all in Aries for this New Moon. That’s a lot of Aries! While Aries is the god of war, it also brings the courage, motivation, drive, desire and energy to venture into new territory and can help us to be open, honest and direct, and to confront things that we may usually shy away from. Aries helps us to simply be ourselves. It is interesting that Mars has also just moved into Aries, on 9 April, as it is very at home in its own sign. Mars in Aries can bring passion, motivation, energy, courage and the capacity for quick, decisive action, helping us to be proactive and trail blazing. However, it can also bring impatience, aggression, anger and the tendency to be too impulsive or hasty. However, sometimes that is exactly what we need – to act without hesitation, on pure instinct, and think about the consequences later!

Mars is also sitting right next to Saturn during this Moon, having first activated Neptune on 13 April. The Saturn Neptune conjunction on 20 February, at 0° Aries, was a very important moment that seeded a new cycle, both collectively and personally. This combination can dissolve old karma and any rigid structures that are no longer viable, and can also help us to turn our dreams and visions into something concrete that has the potential to stand the test of time. We are stepping into a new world, and a new version of ourselves, where the old rules no longer apply.

Both Saturn and Neptune are now being activated by Mercury and Mars going through the first few degrees of Aries. First they hit Neptune, the gatekeeper and dreamer that brings the inspiration and guidance from Spirit, then they hit Saturn, which can then create something solid and long lasting, helping us to follow through on the Neptunian dream and turn our ideals into reality. Aries calls for us to contemplate who we are and who we truly want to be. It is the sign of initiative and action. We are not just passively dreaming and fantasising now, it is time to do something about it.

During this Moon, Mars is joining forces with Saturn, exact 19 April, which could help us to have the courage to commit to a course of action, and can bring disciplined, focused action. However, Saturn can also call for restraint, holding us back from acting, potentially from fear, or possibly because an external force is blocking us. Saturn also represents authority and, combined with Mars, can bring about controlled, aggressive force with long term consequences. Saturn asks for us to be patient and slow down, assess the situation and to be realistic, waiting until the time is right to act. This combination calls for a proper plan and strategic action, and asks for us to respond intentionally rather than knee jerk reactions. Saturn and Mars can also help us to be brave and start something that we mean to continue and commit to in the long term.

Chiron the Wounded Healer is a very prominent feature during this Moon, as it is sitting right next to the Sun and Moon in Aries. It is quite possible that some core wounds and insecurities could come to the surface to be looked at and healed, and we could be more easily triggered. Chiron in Aries could make us all too aware of where we don’t feel very confident or brave, and can highlight where we have felt wounded or rejected for simply being ourselves. While the Aries part of us wants to start something new, Chiron’s presence could show where we feel raw, scared, exposed, insecure and not ready at all! It is important to honour all the feelings that come up during this time, as they are ultimately a gift, showing us what still needs to be healed and integrated.

Mercury has finally moved out of Pisces and is now in direct, candid, open Aries, and is sitting right next to Neptune during this Moon. This is an interesting addition to the energy of this Moon, as it can bring intuitive insights and a sense of being guided, although it may be hard to make sense of it all. We may find ourselves acting on a feeling but not quite being able to explain it, as it may not be “logical” or “rational”. However, it is important to trust our intuition and inner guidance, and to follow our impulses and inner knowing, as we could be planting a seed that may solidify and become more “real” when Mercury joins Saturn and Mars on 20 April. It may not make sense now, but the conversations we have during this Moon and whatever we imagine and dream up could be very important.

Mercury catches up with Mars and Saturn on 20 April, which could be a more decisive time, with long term consequences. Mercury and Mars in Aries can bring honest, brave, direct, candid conversations that get everything out into the open. Of course, whenever Mars and Aries are involved there is also the potential for anger and heated discussions, as we could get a bit hot under the collar! Saturn calls for us to be realistic in our thinking, and to make a solid, strategic plan of action that we are prepared to follow through with. We could have some very serious conversations that force us to be honest with ourselves and see things as they really are, rather than how we would ideally like them to be.

Saturn asks the question “If you start something now, are you willing to commit to following through on it?”, and “it this dream actually possible in real world terms?” Saturn can help us to turn the Neptunian dream into something real, but it also asks for accountability, personal responsibility, commitment and total awareness of the reality of the situation. Mars in Aries helps us to be very brave and follow our impulses, jumping off the proverbial cliff, while Saturn asks us to do it with our eyes wide open, fully aware of what we are getting ourselves into. Mercury and Neptune sow the seeds during the New Moon, and things get more serious, real and intentional around 19/20 April, when we have the potential to bravely commit to a plan. We might have to be very honest with ourselves and others, however, and decide whether the vision is viable.

Pluto is very much supporting this Moon, forming harmonious aspects to Mercury, Mars, Saturn and Neptune. This can help bring long term transformation and make choices that can affect us on a deep soul level. Pluto in Aquarius is calling for us to find our tribe, gathering with like-minded souls, building community and making change from a grass roots level. The Saturn/Pluto conjunction of January 2020 seeded a new cycle, and this is the next phase. We are called to be the change that we want to see, because how we act and react makes a difference, rippling out into the world. We are asked to contemplate what we want to build in the long term, and who we want to do it with, and then fully commit to it. This is an important time, and an important Moon, as we have the potential to plant seeds that will sprout, grow and blossom, so it is important to be mindful of the choices and decisions we make during this time.

Pluto is also joining forces with Juno, the goddess of long term, committed relationships, also exact on 20 April. This could be an important time for relationships, as we could have honest, open, direct conversations that have a big impact on the trajectory of our relationships, reshaping our commitments at a very deep level. We could be called to be emotionally honest, making important choices and accepting the consequences of those choices. Relationships could deepen or break during this time, and some could be reborn on different terms, as Aquarius calls for freedom, authenticity and an alternative, non-traditional way of being in relationship. The old rules may not apply, so we are asked to find our own, unique way of being in relationship that comes from a very truthful, emotionally honest place.

We do have some balance to all this fiery, enthusiastic, energetic Aries energy, with Venus and Ceres both in grounded, earthy Taurus, reminding us to “take time out to smell the roses”. Ceres encourages us to practice self-care, tending to our emotional well-being with a healthy diet and time spent in nature. Venus reminds us that while there may be a lot of turbulence right now, it is important to connect to the beauty that surrounds us, grounding ourselves in the earth. What do we truly value? What helps us to feel safe and secure? How can we become more self-sufficient and self-reliant?

Uranus is also in the very last degree of Taurus, getting ready to move into Gemini on 26 April. Taurus rules money, Mother Earth and natural resources, and with Uranus in this powerful degree of Taurus, we could experience a shake-up in this area of life in the next couple of weeks. Uranus can bring breakdowns that lead to breakthroughs, and could bring about a shift in our financial system as it holds the potential to liberate us from old, antiquated ways of operating. This is the last time Uranus will be in Taurus for a long time to come, so it will be interesting to see what happens between now and 26 April, as both Mother Earth and the financial system could be a but more volatile. However, change is needed, and that is Uranus’s superpower!

The Sabian Symbol for this Moon, at 28° Aries, is very interesting indeed: “A large audience confronts the performer who disappointed its expectations”, which Dane Rudyar describes as ”The necessity for mature preparation and self-criticism. Great hopes, excited expectations cannot be sustained. In this symbol the performer is made fully aware of having promised – to the many elements of his own personality as well as perhaps to other human beings – more than he was able to deliver. The issue is how to handle this situation. In one form or another, it is an often recurring situation in the life of an individual person. The manner in which it is met determines the individual’s future possibilities of development and achievement. The individual is not alone concerned, for in a sense mankind as a whole will be affected. What is required, therefore, is an objective inclusiveness of the whole environments; thus a sense of RESPONSIBILITY for what one’s actions will produce in people who have been made to expect significant results.”

A very interesting symbol, which seems to give a nod to both Chiron and Saturn, and feels important on both a personal and collective level. This New Moon does feel like it has the potential to seed something important, and the days between the 17 April and 20 April feel significant too. A lot could come up for us, with Chiron potentially triggering our core wounds and insecurities, but it could ultimately be very healing indeed. There is a forward momentum to Aries, especially with Mars currently in Aries, and we could feel like we are being guided down a new path and into a new chapter, although we may not fully understand it yet. We may simply be called to take a leap of faith and commit to the path that is calling us. It may feel scary, and we may not feel ready, and it may bring a lot up to be looked at, but Aries calls for us to feel the fear and do it anyway, reminding us that if we don’t try, we will never know. It’s time to step up and become who we were put on earth to be.

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Picture: The Trapeze, by Henri Achille Zo

LIBRA FULL MOON - 2 April 2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/libra-full-moon-2-april-2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/libra-full-moon-2-april-2026#comments

Full Moons

Exact at 3.11am UK time (BST) This Full Moon could certainly bring some big emotions to the surface, as anything that might have been bubbling beneath the surface could come rising up to be fully illuminated by the light of the Moon. This Moon very much brings our relationships into the spotlight, as Aries and Libra are the relationship axis. We are now in Aries season, when the sap rises and things come to life in the Northern Hemisphere. Aries is an active, energetic, enthusiastic, impulsive, independent, brave, pioneering sign that can help bring the courage, energy and motivation to get things started. And now we have a Libra Full Moon, calling for us to find some balance between bold, assertive Aries and peaceful, diplomatic Libra. Do we choose conflict or do we prefer to find a more peaceful solution?

Aries is the sign of “I am”, helping us to prioritise ourselves and our own needs, while Libra is a sign that prefers teamwork and may tend to think of others before self. Libra also helps us to be aware of the impact we have on others. Aries is the part of us that likes to get things out into the open, even if it means having an argument about it, while Libra might turn the other cheek and put up with things for the sake of peace and harmony. In an ideal world we would have the courage to bring things out into the open and talk it through in a loving, considerate, kind and reasonable way, rather than letting our egos get in the way, or picking fights, or becoming defensive, or attacking one another. This would be a nice blend of Libra and Aries!

Libra can help us to find happy compromises and peaceful, diplomatic solutions, which would be a very lovely thing indeed, given all that is happening in the collective right now! However, it is also a sign of extremes, given that its symbol is the scales. Ultimately it seeks balance, but can quite easily teeter too far in one direction or another. In an ideal world this Moon can help us to find the middle ground.

As I mentioned, things can come to a head during a Full Moon, and this one is no exception. Aries may act impulsively, and can be assertive, hot-headed, self-interested and, in the extreme, aggressive. Aries tends to act first and think later, and can be impatient and rash. Libra, on the other hand, is open to reason, negotiation and discussion, and seeks to find a peaceful solution. Libra also wants everything to be fair, equal and just. Full Moons can bring turning points and can intensify and escalate situations that have been building in the week or two beforehand. Whatever we may have been holding back, swallowing or putting up with may feel more pressing and urgent, so that we have no choice but to bring it out into the open.

Jupiter in Cancer is forming a dynamic square aspect to the Sun and Moon, which could certainly amplify our emotions even more! Jupiter is the largest planet, and tends to expand and magnify the energy of the planet it is forming an aspect with. Jupiter is in emotional, sensitive Cancer, and is challenging Cancer’s ruler, the Moon, which represents our moods and emotions. When Jupiter is involved things can easily go too far and be taken out of all proportion. Our emotions could easily run away with us! Luckily, Jupiter is very at home in Cancer, which brings generosity of spirit, the urge to protect others, emotional intelligence and the capacity to be vulnerable, which could be helpful. Jupiter can bring emotional insight, higher perspective and wisdom that can help to navigate whatever comes up during this time, both personally and collectively.

With Jupiter involved we could feel more emotionally reactive than usual, and may feel the urge to defend some strong beliefs and could feel torn between the Aries urge to stand our ground and the Libran urge to keep the peace. There is the potential for saying things we can’t take back, as our emotions could get the better of us. However, it certainly is better to get things out into the open rather than allowing them to fester, and it is also good to show how we really feel, so everyone knows where they stand. It is important to feel all the feelings, and they could be hard to ignore, but also to be open to listening to others so that we can understand how they are feeling too. This certainly could help us to be emotionally honest with one another.

Luckily Jupiter in Cancer and Mercury in Pisces are forming a harmonious trine aspect to one another, which can help us to see the bigger picture and could also bring insightful, emotionally honest, compassionate, connected conversations. This is a very helpful addition to this Moon! It can help us to be caring, sensitive, nurturing and empathetic towards one another and to be willing to understand the other person’s perspective. It can also bring intuitive insight and calls for us to drop into our heart instead of getting too caught up in the head. The trine between Mercury and Jupiter is exact on t3 April, the day after the Full Moon.

Saturn in Aries is forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in Aquarius, which is exact on 28 March, but will still be very strong during this Moon. This is the first time Saturn and Pluto are forming a strong aspect to each other since the Saturn Pluto conjunction of January 2020, which seeded a new cycle. This is the next phase of what started then. It is important to be aware that the conjunction of 2020 was in Capricorn, the sign of control, societal systems, authority and also personal responsibility. It was a time when a rather extreme amount of societal control was enforced. Now, in the next phase of what was seeded then, the planets are in very different signs.

Pluto is in Aquarius, the sign of community, brotherhood/sisterhood, freedom, equality, technology and revolution. Aquarius questions the rules and challenges the “system”, and has a vision of how things could be different. Saturn is in Aries, which calls for us to have personal responsibility and the courage to build something new, unlike anything we have seen before. Aries bring that sense that we are essentially responsible for ourselves – how we act, react and conduct ourselves is the most important thing to concentrate on right now. We don’t have control of what is going on in the world at large, but we do have control over ourselves.

If we were all to focus on ourselves and doing all that we can to be the best human being that we can be, then it ripples out into our community and world at large. This sextile brings a sense that we must “be the change that we want to see”. We are encouraged to come together with like-minded souls and build community, collaborating and laying the foundation for the world that we want to live in. How can we make a difference, day to day? How can we contribute to the community that we already live in? The rigid structures of the outdated system are crumbling and it is not pretty right now, but Saturn and Pluto remind us that we can make a difference. What we do and how we act then ripples out into the world, and if we all act with integrity and contribute in a positive way then big change is possible.

Basically, Saturn, the planet of control and responsibility and Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, are playing nicely with each other right now, and so the choices we make and the actions we take, on a small scale, can make a difference. Instead of falling into fear, we are called to make ourselves strong, as individuals, and take responsibility for our life. This is a time of soul growth and evolution, and so we are called to be flexible and ride the waves of change rather than resisting them. We have a chance, here, to contemplate what we want to build, in the long-term, and to have the courage to act on it. Our small ripple connects to all of the other small ripples and creates a big wave. Those of us with personal planets or angles around 4° of a sign will feel the energy of Saturn and Pluto most acutely.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 13° Libra, is an intriguing and appropriate one: ” Children blowing soap bubbles”, which Dane Rudyar describes as: “The cultural fantasies through which young minds dream of perfect fulfilment. This seems to refer to the use of the imagination and the value of fantasy in a collective set-up. Men dream together as a preparation for acting together. Rituals related to the great aspirations of mankind are both secret ceremonies and play things for young minds; so also are court ceremonies and operas for the social elite or baseball games for the crowds. Some men work hard at acquiring knowledge and providing society with what it needs to enjoy warmth and lighted places; others play at imagining themselves perfect spheres of multicoloured radiance – soap bubbles so soon proven evanescent! This is a symbol of IMAGINATIVE PLAY, which foreshadows the idea of “global man,” the man of plenitude.”

Well, this Symbol seems to be giving a little nod to Neptune, calling for us to use our imaginations to dream up the world we want to see. It is important to keep our sights on this new world that is forming, and to blow all our hopes and dreams into the bubbles! The power of the collective is immense, and we all have a part to play in it, with our intentions, ceremonies, rituals, prayers and actions. This Full Moon involves Aries, the God of war and Libra, the sign of peace. We may not have control over what is playing out on the world stage, but we do have a choice over how we conduct ourselves in our personal relationships, how we think, communicate and respond to one another. We do have control over ourselves and how we turn up in the world. As the symbol says, if we all play at imagining ourselves perfect spheres of multicoloured radiance, what a beautiful world this could be!

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Bubble Flower, by Josephine Wall

PISCES NEW MOON - 19 March 2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/pisces-new-moon-19-march-2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/pisces-new-moon-19-march-2026#comments

New Moons

Exact at 1.24am UK time (GMT) This New Moon feels like a time of release and letting go, as it occurs at the very end of Pisces, which is the last sign of the entire zodiac. Two days later, on the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn equinox in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sun moves into direct, forthright, pioneering Aries, the very first sign of the entire zodiac! However, before it leaves Pisces we have this New Moon, gently prompting us to contemplate what still needs healing, what we need to leave behind and what we want to take with us into the next cycle. A Pisces New Moon calls for us to turn inward, listen and pay attention to where we are being guided to plant seeds, setting intentions for what we are carrying forward. Pisces isn’t about thinking our way through – it simply invites us to let go, surrender, accept and allow. If we open our hearts, connect and pay attention to the signs and synchronicities, the way will show itself.

This feels like the kind of Moon that asks us to tie up any loose ends and release old emotional baggage, connections, regrets, illusions and patterns, finding forgiveness, compassion and acceptance in our hearts while also recognising what simply no longer serves us. There can be some sadness and tenderness in the process, and we may feel more sensitive than usual, but we are called to have faith in the process. Pisces encourages us to let go of expectations, surrendering to the flow and trusting that we are being guided in the right direction. It is the part of us that is connected to “all that is”, and reminds us that what happens to one happens to all, because we are all energetically connected. This could be a prolific time for our dream life, and we may be picking up a lot from the collective while we are asleep. And there certainly is a lot going on in the ether right now! Our dreams could have important messages for us, so this could be a good time to keep a dream diary.

Sometimes things don’t make logical sense but we simply have a deep inner knowing that it is the right path. A Pisces New Moon encourages us to trust in the unseen, let go and turn inward, spending time in quiet contemplation so that we can tune in and be able to hear the whispers of guidance that come from within our hearts. We are in an “in between’ space right now, as Aries season is about to begin, calling for us to spur into action. Before we do, we are invited to rest, reflect, watch and wait for the signs and messages that will show us the way.

Interestingly, Mercury, the Messenger of the Gods, is coming to the very end of its retrograde in Pisces, and happens to be sitting right on top of the North Node in Pisces as it does so. This could bring fated conversations, messages, insights, realisations and understandings which can help us grow and move forward. We could receive a very important piece of information that makes a big difference and could even feel like a puzzle piece falling into place. Mercury has been retrograde since 27 February, in dreamy, sensitive, impressionable Pisces, which could have involved a trip down memory lane, especially if there is anything unfinished or unresolved that we might need to revisit.

We may have been looking back with wistful longing, nostalgia or maybe with regret. People from the past may have reappeared in our dreams, or may even have reached out to us, or we may have reached out to them. Memories may have resurfaced and we may have re-visited or even re-lived situations we thought we had resolved. Pisces can help us to look back with compassion and tenderness, and feel all the feelings, so that we are able to find some kind of healing, closure or release. We have also had Eclipse season, and this set of Eclipses have a connection to the Eclipses of 2007, so we may be completing or continuing something that occurred then.

It is interesting that Mercury will be hovering over the North Node as it turns direct. We could receive some powerful messages and guidance during this time, so it is important to keep an open mind and not try to figure it all out logically, as the guidance is more likely to come in the form of dreams, symbols or synchronistic messages, or intuitive downloads, insights and revelations. Mercury will station direct on 20 March, the day of the Equinox, right on top of the North Node, at 8° Pisces. This feels very significant. It is important to pay attention to what might be revealed to us during this time, as it may show us the way forward. How might the past inform the future? What wisdom can we carry forward with us?

Uranus in Taurus is supporting the Sun and Moon, which is very helpful indeed! This also brings the potential for insights and revelations that bring clarity and can shift our perspective. Uranus can help “wake’ us up and see what we were not able to perceive before. We could find that things somehow fall into place and suddenly make sense in ways that they couldn’t before now. Uranus can help us to shift out of old patterns and ways of doing things that no longer serve us. It can be quite subtle, with Pisces involved, such as an inner realisation, a moment of clarity or an internal shift that somehow makes all the difference and points us in the right direction.

Pluto and Saturn are currently forming a supportive sextile aspect with one another, exact on 29 March, which is building during this Moon. While this Moon in Pisces seems to be bringing some intuitive understanding of what we yearn for, with the potential for revelations and a shift in perspective, Saturn and Pluto can help us to commit to a course of action and actually make transformation happen. This Pisces Moon can make us very aware of what our hearts long for, while Pluto in Aquarius is calling us towards the vision of what we truly want for ourselves, including finding our tribe, building a greater sense of community and connecting with like-minded souls who just “get” us. This is the Aquarian vision, which could feel more and more urgent and compelling as Pluto moves further into Aquarius.

Saturn and Pluto can help us to lay the foundations for a new version of ourselves that is forming, and the feelings, intuitive thoughts, insights, signs, guidance and impressions that come up around this New Moon can help to show us the way. It is time to release whatever is not meant for us and to set powerful intentions for what we want to build in its place. Those of us with personal planets or angles around 4° of a sign will feel the energy of this Saturn Pluto sextile most acutely. What bricks are we laying right now that could transform our lives for the better and lead us to our heart’s true desire? What choices are we making? What direction are we heading and what “brick” do we need to lay for us to get there?

The Sabian symbol for the Moon, at 29 Pisces, is a powerful one: “Light breaking into many colours as it passes through a prism”, which Dane Rudyar describes as ”The analytical power of the mind necessary for the formulation of life processes in their many aspects. Cycles of existence begin in unity and end in what I have called “multi-unity.” At the stage of consummation the many individual differences are totalled; they constitute a sum. Within that sum – a unified total – the inevitability of the future process of differentiation is implied, because every cycle leaves a mass of waste products slowly returning to the unconscious state of chemical matter, of “humus.” What the symbol tells us is that unity will always break again into multiplicity. The “prism” is always there. There is no absolute unity; if anything could be called “absolute” it is the relationship between the One and the Many. This symbol points to the fundamental type of operation in all modes of existence. The most beautiful and seemingly everlasting experience of unity will in time be superseded by the need to attend to a multiplicity of details. Existence implies DIFFERENTIATION.”

What might be revealed to us during this tender New Moon, in its many layers? And how might we move forward, based on what we have seen? What insights, dreams and revelations might lead the way? What seeds are we sowing during this Moon? What needs to be left behind in the past and what are we bringing with us? What wisdom are we carrying forward from our past experiences? What needs to be closed, healed and released, and what feels like it is waiting to form? Uranus can help us to suddenly see what we were not able to see before, while Pluto and Saturn can help us to make definitive choices based on what we have realised, laying the groundwork for a new self that is slowly forming. As we approach the very end of Pisces season and prepare for the Equinox, this Moon invites us to be still, tune in and pay attention to the subtle cues and messages that can illuminate the path before us.

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Picture: by Authenticharmony

VIRGO FULL MOON / TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE -- 3 March 2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/virgo-full-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-3-march-2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/virgo-full-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-3-march-2026#comments

Full Moons

Total Lunar Eclipse

Exact at 11.37am UK time (GMT) This may be a Virgo Full Moon, but there surely is a lot of sensitive, emotional, compassionate Pisces energy around for this lunation! Not to mention that this is the second Eclipse in Eclipse season, making this a super-charged Full Moon, making it a potential catalyst for profound change. Lunar Eclipses represent the culmination of the last six months, since the Solar Eclipse/Virgo New Moon on 21 September last year, So it may be worth looking back to what was being seeded at that time. A Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse can bring things to light that may have been buried or simmering away beneath the surface. Emotions also tend to be much closer to the surface, and fated events and relationship shifts can occur during this time, as we are called to take a step forward in our soul growth and move into the next chapter.

The Nodes of the Moon are always activated during an Eclipse, and in this case the Moon is sitting right next to the Virgo South Node, while the Sun is activating the Pisces North Node. Collectively, we are currently being called to the Pisces North Node in order to grow and evolve, which involves turning inward, connecting to Spirit, surrendering control and just letting go and going with the flow. The Pisces North Node reminds us to trust in the divine order of things, even if it doesn’t seem to make sense. A Virgo Full Moon can highlight any tendencies we might have to worry, or over-analyse, or “fix”, or micromanage, or to be hard on ourselves or overly perfectionistic. The Pisces North Node is calling us away from these tendencies, calling for a greater acceptance of our so called flaws and shortcomings and helping us to release any tendencies to criticise ourselves or those close to us.

The Virgo part of us might feel the need to have everything “just so”, while the Pisces North Node calls for more fluidity and capacity to simply allow things to unfold organically. Where are we being guided right now, with no effort on our part and no need to force things? What tends to bring up anxiety, and what tools do we have to help us to soothe, relax, soften, accept and allow? How can we develop a greater sense of faith and trust that we are somehow being guided in the right direction? Are we able to accept and forgive ourselves as easily as we would our friends? How possible is it to soften the lens through which we see ourselves and cut ourselves some slack? Are we able to loosen our grip and trust in the divine flow?

The Nodes are in Virgo and Pisces from 11 January 2025 until 26 July 2026, so we are approaching the end of this process. Ultimately, the Pisces North Node is calling for us to trust that we are guided and protected, rather than worrying or trying to force outcomes. The Virgo part of us can easily get caught up in a spiral of worry or anxiety, while the Pisces North Node reminds us that worrying about something doesn’t change the outcome, so it is better to do what we can to nurture feelings of faith and trust that there is a larger plan that will make sense later, and find ways of soothing our nervous systems, stilling our monkey minds and finding a place of calm and peace. Sometimes this is easier said than done, of course, but this is the growth that the Pisces North Node is offering us.

It is not about leaving the Virgo part of us behind - we are simply being called to let go of the more unhelpful traits. Virgo is a very helpful, supportive, discerning, organised, humble and service oriented sign which can help us to recognise how our thought processes, stress, habits and environment impact our health and wellbeing. Virgo can help us to work on self-care and healthy routines, recognising when we have pushed ourselves too hard, while Pisces simply calls for us to rest our nervous system through meditation, relaxation, healing, breathwork, sleep, time spent in nature and developing a greater connection to Spirit.

The ruler of the Pisces North Node is Neptune, which has recently moved into Aries and joined up with Saturn on 20 February in the very first degree of the entire zodiac. We are now in a new cycle, a new reality, a new way of existing in the world. Aries is the sign of “I am” – our identity and selfhood - and the Saturn Neptune conjunction seeded something new in us, enabling us to put down old patterns, programming and ways of being and step into a different way of operating in the world. We cleared the way while Saturn and Neptune were at the end of Pisces, releasing, grieving, letting go, forgiving, ending karmic contracts and cycles, and now here we are, and things are different, as are we. The change is quite subtle, yet clear. We are in a new phase.

Neptune in Aries doesn’t just passively let go and wait to see what happens. We are called to act on our intuition, guidance and inspiration, as Aries helps us to be brave, pioneering and willing to initiate something new, as long as it feels aligned. Eclipses can bring change, endings and new beginnings, and Neptune in Aries can help us to courageously step into a new chapter, much like the Fool in the tarot deck, jumping off the cliff with the faith and trust that this leap will lead him to where he needs to be. Sometimes things don’t make logical sense, but we are called to do it nevertheless.

Jupiter in Cancer is supporting this Moon, which is such a blessing, as it brings a sense of being guided and protected as we step into this next phase of development. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, bringing great benefit from showing our true feelings and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable. A Virgo Moon can easily bring up feelings of anxiety and overwhelm, and Jupiter can help us to work through whatever emotions come up to the surface. It helps us to find the emotional intelligence and capacity to soothe our wounded inner child if it becomes activated. Indeed, Jupiter in Cancer can really help us to understand how our inner child is still operating in our adult lives and relationships, and allow it to guide and teach us. The trine between Jupiter and the Sun will be exact on Thursday 5 March.

We have a lot of energy in Pisces right now, including Mars, who will have just moved into Pisces the day before the Full Moon. Mars in Aquarius was motivated to rebel and liberate, while Mars in Pisces acts on guidance and intuition, and is motivated by peace. Mercury is also retrograde in Pisces, calling for us to go back over the ground we have covered in the past month, and to reflect, review, rest, recuperate, redress and, if necessary, redo. We might find ourselves remembering the past, as it may have gifts and messages for us, and people might even pop up from the past, if there is something left unfinished between us. Aries season will be here soon enough, with its active, initiating energy, so in the meantime Pisces invites us to rest, recoup and recalibrate.

Pallas Athena, the goddess of wisdom, strategic planning and reason, is sitting right next to the Pisces Sun during this Moon. Pallas Athena does also represent strategic warfare, although Pisces definitely softens the energy, and brings more empathetic, compassionate, intuitive approach to her strategic planning and problem solving. She invites us to use our connection to Spirit, our inner guidance and emotional intelligence to find solutions to whatever we are facing. Pisces is the dreamer, the idealist and the empath, while Pallas Athena has a very sharp mind, so the combination could bring the potential to somehow “see” the way, and understand the bigger picture and the larger plan at work. This can help bring a calm clarity and inner knowing in the face of chaos, and maybe help us to come up with some kind of creative and intuitive plan. It can also help to keep an eye out for the signs and synchronicities that can show us the way.

Venus in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus are playing nicely with each other during this Moon, which could help us to breathe fresh air into our relationships, liberating us from stagnant, stuck patterns of relating and allowing a greater sense of space and freedom. Uranus can bring sudden realisations that allow greater clarity around our relationships, our self-worth and/or money situation. We could experience a change of perspective that could help us to make necessary changes in the way we relate to ourselves and others. Those of us with personal planets or angles around 27° of a sign will be feeling the liberating, awakening energy of Uranus the most acutely, especially in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

The Sabian symbol for this moon is a very interesting one indeed, at 13° Virgo: ” A powerful statesman overcomes a state of political hysteria” which Dane Rudyar describes as ”The focusing of the collective need for order and structural interdependence into a personage who incarnates the answer to this need. We are at the stage where a powerful realisation of the very purpose of the cycle of existence faces the chaotic remains of a dis-structured past. The character of the leader is always delineated by the need, subconscious though it may be, of the uniformed agglomeration of entities he is called upon by destiny to lead. In time the leader will be worshipped as the “divine Father” of the society he structured. With this symbol we see a new type of characterisation of the many-faceted polarisation of positive and negative. We have before us a personage endowed with CHARISMA, this elusive and mysterious power that comes from a man’s or woman’s openness to the power of the planetary evolution.”

A very interesting symbol, given all that is going on in the world right now! It is so very important to heed the call of the Pisces, and to do what we can to still our minds, managing any anxiety, worry, spiralling or overwhelm and soothing our nervous systems, finding a place of inner peace, compassion and the faith and trust that somehow all is as it is meant to be and there is a larger plan at work that may not make sense now, but will become clear later. For some people, meditation, breathwork, tai chi or yoga are helpful, while for others, singing, creating or dancing can bring a state of bliss, connection and oneness. This Pisces North Node is our North Star right now, inviting us to let go and allow ourselves to be guided to wherever we need to be. “Faith and Trust!” is the Pisces North Node mantra!

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Artwork: Embrace the Silence, by ARTEO

AQUARIUS NEW MOON/ANNULAR ECLIPSE - 17 February 2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/aquarius-new-moonannular-eclipse-17-february-2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/aquarius-new-moonannular-eclipse-17-february-2026#comments

Chinese New Year

New Moons

Planetary Shift

Solar Eclipse

Exact at 12.01pm UK time. This marks a long awaited moment, as not only is this New Moon also a Solar Eclipse, but it also marks the end of the Year of the Wood Snake and the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse, which is markedly different energy! Added to which, we have the Saturn/Neptune conjunction culminating, as it will be exact three days after the New Moon. There is a lot going on! A Solar Eclipse is a super charged New Moon, calling for us to release whatever no longer serves as we enter a new phase, closing one chapter and beginning a new one. It is important to be mindful of the thoughts and conversations that naturally occur during this time, as they will give us clues as to what we are bringing in and what we need to release. It might also be worth looking back to the time of the New Moon on 17 February 2007, and contemplating what was happening then, as there could be some connection between then and now. This is the next phase of growth.

Aquarius is the part of us that seeks to connect with like-minded souls and likes to feel that we are part of a tribe or community, part of something bigger than us. Collectively, we are at an important turning point, and with Pluto currently also in Aquarius we could feel the call to connect and join up with the people that feel aligned with who we truly are, at our core, and where we are going. Aquarius is the eccentric, the disruptor, the revolutionary, the humanitarian and the socially conscious part of us that has visions of a better future based on equality, freedom, brotherhood/sisterhood and progressive ideals. Aquarius is the part of us that questions authority, the power structures and any rules that are unfair, unjust or simply don’t make any sense! As such, this New Moon/Eclipse is a good time to put our ducks in a row and plant the seeds of change. It is time.

This Aquarius New Moon calls for us to let go of the layers of conditioning, shedding the parts of us that have no place in the new world that we are moving into. Who are we, at our core – the authentic truth of who we are, the unique spark that existed before all the layers of life experience and societal/parental conditioning got piled on top of it? It is time to reconnect and remember our true essence. Aquarius calls for utter authenticity, regardless of what other people might think of us. What parts of us have we abandoned in order to fit in, to find love and to be accepted? Is it possible to be fully ourselves, even if it makes others feel uncomfortable because it is not the version of us that they have got used to? And who are the people who allow us to be our true authentic self and, not only that, actively celebrate and encourage it? These are the people we need to be around.

Interestingly, Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is also squaring the Sun and Moon, which definitely adds extra potency to a Moon that certainly has the potential to spark radical change! Uranus is known as the Great Awakener, the Harbinger of Change, as it is very good at blasting away the cobweb, breathing fresh air and moving us out of any stasis or stagnation. This Moon can certainly help us to step back and see things from a different perspective, detaching from any unhealthy attachments or patterns and gaining greater clarity about what needs to change. Uranus can bring flashes of insight, moments of profound clarity and epiphanies whereby we realise the truth of the matter and see something that cannot be “unseen” once we have seen it.

This is the kind of Moon that could bring shocks, surprises and wake up calls that come from left field and jolt us back into a greater sense of conscious awareness, aligning us with our true path, if we have strayed from it. Uranus demands freedom and seeks to reconnect us with our authentic truth. This Moon certainly does seem to be calling for us to be utterly true to ourselves, dropping the façade, the people pleasing, the false self, the one who plays by the unspoken “rules” and conditions in order to feel accepted and loved. There is something very liberating about this Moon, as we are called to free ourselves of anything that prevents us from living our truth and that might be holding us back from moving forward into this as yet unknown reality that awaits us.

The long awaited Saturn/Neptune conjunction peaks three days after this New Moon, on 20 February. These two powerful planets join forces at 0° Aries, the very first degree of the entire zodiac, which feels so very significant! It feels like something new is being born, unlike anything we have seen before, and there is no precedent, no script, no rule book for what lies ahead of us. It is very exciting, and Aries can give us the energy, courage, drive and motivation to turn our dreams, longings and yearnings (Neptune) into tangible form (Saturn). This combination does not allow for illusions, and we could be called to lay down any dreams, ideals or fantasies that have no real validity or basis in reality.

However, Saturn can help bring discipline, focus, commitment and staying power, while Neptune brings inspiration and the capacity to act on our guidance and inner knowing, instead of simply passively dreaming about it! What is waiting to be born right now, and how can we make it happen? These two planets can be a powerful combination when they work together, because Neptune brings the spiritual guidance and inspiration, and Saturn brings the commitment to follow through on the initial spark of inspiration, while Aries helps us to have courage, try new things and take action.

Neptune can also dissolve Saturnian structures, which happened when Saturn and Neptune were conjunct in Capricorn in 1989/1990, the time of the end of the Soviet Union. It will be interesting to see what dissolves now, as we have many outworn, outdated, corrupt and antiquated power structures that are simply no longer serving us. We are ready for something new, but unclear as to what form it will take. The fact that this conjunction is occurring at the first degree of Aries feels so significant, as it is raw, unfiltered, primal energy and life force, representing the initial spark that lights the fire, the ignition that starts the engine, raw, primal energy and it calls us to act rather than passively waiting for things to change. We are at a point of no return.

Those of us with personal planets and angles around 0° of a sign will feel the energy of this powerful conjunction most acutely, especially the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. It certainly does feel like we are on the verge of something new and unlike anything we have ever seen, and what might need to fall away in order for it to take its place? The Sabian symbol for 0° Aries is “A woman just risen from the sea. A seal is embracing her”. Rudyar describes it as “Emergence of new forms and of the potentiality of consciousness”. It brings a sense of a new beginning, a clean slate, emerging from the womb and birthing something new and as yet unknown and unrealised. And how amazing that it is part of this powerful New Moon/Eclipse/Chinese New Year, which also symbolises a new chapter?!

There is another conjunction that feels very important and is exact on the day of the New Moon. Venus is sitting right next to the North Node in Pisces, bringing the potential for fated encounters, destined relationships that help bring soul growth and a sense of being guided by our hearts. Love will show us the way and will lead us to where we need to be, as long as we are able to soften, let go, surrender and flow with the natural current. The Pisces North Node reminds us to let go of striving or forcing, but to simply allow. What relationships feel spiritually aligned with where we are going and who we really are? Where, and towards whom do we seem to be naturally guided right now, with no effort on our part? Where is the flow of the river taking us?

The Sabian symbol for this New Moon, at 29° Aquarius, is such an appropriate and beautiful one: “A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis”, which Dane Rudyar describes as ”The capacity to utterly transform the character of one’s consciousness by radically altering the structural patterns of everyday living and the types of relationships one enters upon. Here what is emphasised is the process of metamorphosis itself. This symbol stresses that nothing short of a complete renewal of all the implications of being alive as a human individual will do. A radical change is needed. This change is individual and mental, and it should be seen against the background of humanity as a whole. What is revealed is the potential ability of every human being to participate in a higher realm of evolution AFTER his or her emergence from a critical state of transition. The keyword is METAMORPHOSIS. In spiritual terms, this implies “initiation,” i.e. entering a higher realm of conscious existence and there joining a sacred Company.”

It is quite an amazing symbol, that not only speaks to the potential for radical change that the Aquarius New Moon and Uranus bring, but also feels resonant of the new beginnings and new birth potential of the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in the first degree of the zodiac. This is a moment that is utterly unique and will never come again, and if it does it will not be for thousands of years. We have been preparing for this, and are ready to emerge for the “critical state of transition”. It is time to break free from the limitations represented by the chrysalis and reveal the full radiance of all that we are!

It is so interesting that the movement of Saturn and Neptune into fiery Aries coincides with the Year of the Fire Horse, as this could be a very fast-paced year with an unstoppable momentum that calls for us to be very brave and break free from limitations, moving towards whatever makes us feel most alive and free. The Fire Horse doesn’t hesitate, it doesn’t fear change and is fiercely authentic. It calls for us to act on our impulses, take risks and act decisively. The Fire burns away anything that holds back necessary change. This year could certainly take us for a ride (pardon the pun), and is surely starting off with a bang! We have done the shedding, with a Number 9 Year, the Year of the Snake and the end of Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. We have been called, in recent times, to clear the way, to close a karmic cycle, grieve, release, let go, surrender and forgive ourselves and others. Now it is time for the next chapter. So it shall be.

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Painting: Golden Horse by Jennifer Hawkyard

LEO FULL MOON - 1 February 2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/leo-full-moon-1-february-2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/leo-full-moon-1-february-2026#comments

Full Moons

Planetary Shift

Exact at 10.09pm, UK time (GMT) This Leo Full Moon is the last Full Moon of the Chinese Year of the Snake, and occurs in the midst of some powerful planetary shifts. A Leo Moon calls for us to follow what brings us joy and allow our playful inner child to take the reins. Leo is the creative part of us that has the capacity to self-actualise and fully realise the special talents and potential that are unique to us. A Leo Full Moon invites us to shine our light brightly and allow ourselves to be seen in all our fullness and glory! Are we able to bravely and confidently express all that we are, from our hearts, and not hide ourselves or make ourselves small? If we were to be really honest about what lights us up and have the courage to follow our heart, where would this lead us? If we are asked what incites our passion and brings us our greatest joy, what is the first thing that we think of? These are all good things to consider on a Leo Full Moon!

The Sun is currently in progressive, rebellious, revolutionary, community minded, humanitarian Aquarius, along with Mercury, Venus, Mars and Pluto, so it is quite the Aquarius party right now! This brings an emphasis on how our unique gifts can contribute to the collective and help create a better world. It’s not all about us, right now – there is something much bigger to contemplate and consider. The Aquarius part of us questions the status quo and isn’t afraid to disrupt the system and go up against authority if it feels unequal, unfair or antiquated. Aquarius helps us to think outside the box, link up with like-minded souls and contemplate what kind of future we want to create. Aquarius is the part of us that has the vision of what could be, while Leo helps us to actually create it.

While Leo calls for us to follow our heart, Aquarius calls for us to find our tribe and figure out where and with whom we truly fit in and can fully thrive. Hopefully our hearts can lead us to a place of true alignment, so that we are guided to exactly where we are supposed to be. We are on the threshold of something that we have never experienced before, and are being called to throw out the rule book and open ourselves up to a new way of operating in the world. The Capricorn New Moon encouraged us to lay the foundation for what we wish to bring in, and this Full Moon can help clear the way. Aquarius stands for Freedom, Equality and Community and Leo calls for us to have the courage to express all that we truly are. Where are we being called at the moment? Where are our hearts calling us to?

Neptune and Saturn are both forming minor aspects to the Sun and Moon, which feels appropriate, as they are both a very big part of the current planetary picture. It is quite interesting, right at this moment, as Neptune, the planet of dreams, idealism, spirituality, unity and inspiration, has just entered Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, while Saturn, the planet of form, karma, structure, reality, authority and responsibility, is still in the last couple of degrees of Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. Saturn will enter Aries in a couple of weeks. There is the sense that something new is waiting to be born, unlike anything we have seen before, but right now we are still clearing the way and laying down the bricks.

Neptune in Aries can bring inspired action, the drive and courage to act on our dreams, ideals and visions, and has the potential to bring out our compassionate, spiritual warrior, who is willing to fight for our ideals and collective peace and unity. There is a sense that things can’t continue the way they have, and now we are called to act and move, after a period of dissolution, resting, clearing, completing and waiting while Neptune was in the last degree of Pisces. Pisces is the dreamer, while Aries is the doer, the initial spark that ignites the fire, the impulse to act on our dreams and desires. While Neptune was in this last degree of Pisces there was more of a sense of passively trusting and going with the flow, while Neptune in Aries calls for us to act and move on our inner guidance. Aries is the raw life force, the ignition, the spark, the match that can start a raging fire. Neptune in Aries calls for us to fight for our ideals and to make them happen, rather than simply dreaming about them.

Saturn will enter Aries on 13/14 February, and will join Neptune on 17 February, but until then it will remain in Pisces, testing us and clearing the way so that we are truly ready for whatever lies ahead. It is important to allow anything to fall away that no longer has a place where we are going, while laying the foundation for what is waiting to be born. What karmic contracts need to be left behind, what structures need to dissolve, what patterns need to fall away so that we are ready for the next cycle? This is not a walk in the park, this final couple of weeks of Saturn in Pisces, as we may have a sobering dose of reality and it may be hard not to fall into fear, but luckily Neptune is leading the way in Aries, bringing inspiration, courage and a sense of what might be possible. Saturn is bringing closure and a concrete sense of what illusions still need to fall away, while Neptune is bringing a new impulse and a sense of anticipation about what is possible. We can’t quite see the way yet, but there is hope, yearning and expectancy.

When Saturn and Neptune join forces, at 0° Aries, the very first degree of the zodiac, we have the potential for giving our dreams and ideals form and structure and actually putting them into action. Saturn brings the commitment, accountability and potential for making our Neptunian dreams, fantasies, yearnings and longings into something real, solid and tangible. This pairing can also bring about dissolution of old, antiquated structures so that something new and unprecedented can take their place. What that looks like is not yet clear, and there is definitely a sense that there is no script for what is coming, as it is unlike anything we have experienced before. And that is the way it needs to be. The old way isn’t working. We are being asked to throw out the old rule book and start fresh, with open hearts, as we embark on the road less travelled.

The North Node is Pisces is still calling for us to go with the flow, opening up to divine guidance and keeping an eye out for signs, omens and synchronicities that can show us the way forward. It reminds us to do what we can not to fall into a state of worry or anxiety; instead we are called to accept, allow, surrender and trust that we are being guided to where we need to be even if it doesn’t yet make logical sense. The more faith and trust we can cultivate right now, the better. We are called to do what we can to strengthen our connection to Spirit and to do whatever activities or practices raise our vibration the most, such as singing, dancing, breathwork, walking in nature, meditation, yoga, tai chi, making art – whatever works best for us. And this Leo Full Moon does invite us to follow our joy and play, create and express ourselves, letting our playful inner child lead the way!

The difference now is that Neptune, the ruler of the Pisces North Node, is no longer in sensitive, flowing, dreamy, dissolving Pisces. It is now in Aries, the sign of action, energy, courage, trailblazing, impulsivity and enthusiasm, the part of us that say “Okay then, let’s do it!”. Instead of simply allowing, we are called to act on our longings and with Saturn’s help, turn them into something that can stand the test of time. Whatever is born at this time has been gestating or percolating for a while now and is the result of all that we have experienced since 2011, when Neptune went into Pisces. A new cycle is beginning and we haven’t been this way before. We are being asked to step up to the plate and take responsibility for creating this new reality. No excuses and no turning back!

Mercury, the planet of the mind, thought processes and communication, seems to have a part in this Moon, as it is sitting right next to Venus in Aquarius and is also forming a helpful, supportive sextile to Chiron the Wounded Healer. The conversations we have in the build-up to this Full Moon could be important, and we could explore some interesting, progressive and unusual topics that are future-oriented, especially when it comes to relationships, money and values. Aquarius asks that our relationships be based on shared values and the spirit of freedom, so we may be exploring exactly what that means. What the Leo Full Moon calls for us to follow our heart, Aquarius ensures that where we are going and who we are going there with are in alignment with the future that we are here to help build.

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon, at 14° Leo, is a beautiful one: “A human soul seeking opportunities for outward manifestation”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The yearning of self-actualisation. Behind the many rhythms and drives of individual existence, beyond the child, the adult and the old man, stands the soul seeking always to manifest itself through the personality. This is the transpersonal urge of the spirit, expressing itself in many ways during the whole life span. But most avenues are blocked, and the soul waits until it can wait no longer. Then comes the dramatic release, which may mean a joyous carnival or madness. This symbol brings a transcendental clue to the technique of living. Let the soul speak out! Allow the power of the true tone of your being to manifest itself smoothly, easily, unobstructed – or expect a variety of consequences. LET THE SOUL MANIFEST.”

What an exciting symbol, which feels perfect for this Full Moon! It calls for us to live our true potential, that which we truly are. It is time, whether we feel ready or not. It feels like we are being prompted to line our ducks up in a row at the moment. It will all fall into place soon enough, and the spark of courage, inspiration and new energy is already there with Neptune now in Aries. Saturn is just lagging behind for a wee bit, calling us to tie up any loose ends, drop any unhelpful illusions, release the old karmic cycle and allow the foundations to naturally and effortlessly form for the new cycle and energy that is coming in. What that is it may not exactly be clear yet, but this Leo New Moon invites us to open our hearts, shine our light and pay full attention to that which ignites our passion and brings us our greatest joy. It is time to “come out” and live what we have always known is possible but just haven’t been given the opportunity before now. The time is here.

Much love

Amy
xoxo

Painting: Fire Dance, by Joseph Tomanek

CAPRICORN NEW MOON - 18 January 2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/capricorn-new-moon-18-january-2026

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/capricorn-new-moon-18-january-2026#comments

New Moons

Planetary Shift

Exact at 7.50pm UK time (GMT) This is an incredibly powerful and potent New Moon which brings the potential for us to lay down some strong foundations for what we wish to manifest in the next chapter that awaits us. It is as if we are standing at the threshold of something new and as yet unknown to us, and this Moon encourages us to leave behind us all that we are finished with so that we can move forward clear and unfettered. A lot of the planets involved in this lunation are at the very end of their sign, including the Sun and Moon, so this is a time of completion, closure, culmination and preparation, whereby we are called to release and clear any thoughts, beliefs, karmic contracts, ways of relating, situations or patterns that have no place in where we are going. We are standing in a doorway, ready to step through into who knows what, so we must decide what to take with us and what needs to stay behind.

This Capricorn New Moon can help us to lay down some very solid, mature, intentional, well-considered foundations for what we wish to build for ourselves moving forward. We are being given the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a future that is as yet unknown and unlike anything we have seen before. Capricorn encourages us to decide what is important to us and to make a commitment to see it through. Interestingly, Neptune is involved in this Moon, calling for us to go with the flow and be open to the signs and synchronicities that will show us the way forward, loosening any need to control outcomes. As such, the final destination remains fluid, rather than rigid, concrete or set in stone. This Capricorn New Moon simply asks for us to say a solemn “yes”, making a heartfelt vow to allow our heart’s true desire to slowly take form, while letting go of anything that might stand in its way.

This Capricorn Moon encourages building something over time, in a slow, patient, intentional, mature manner, rather than an impulsive leap. Capricorn calls for responsibility, accountability and commitment to something real, lasting and solid that can withstand the test of time. Capricorn is in it for the long haul, and likes to build strong foundations, brick by brick. Our inner Capricorn is always willing to work on things, even if it is hard. Capricorn season has been helping us to mature, to get real, make commitments and truly take responsibility for ourselves, our actions and reactions. It has helped us to create healthy boundaries that protect us and keep us safe. Drawing a line in the sand can be very helpful and kind for everyone involved, as they then know exactly where they stand, as there is no ambiguity or blurred lines.

We are preparing for some big planetary shifts in the coming month, with Neptune and Saturn moving from the last sign of the zodiac into the first sign, not to mention the Year of the Fire Horse beginning on 17 February! There is a sense that things are going to shift and change, and so this Moon asks us to clear anything that might still stand in the way of what we want to bring in. This is the end of a karmic cycle, and this Moon calls for us to release the old, outworn programming, so that we are able to operate on a different level. It is hard to know what lies around the next bend in the river, but our thoughts create reality, so it is important to imagine the best outcomes and conjure the life we would most like to live, both personally and collectively. What intentions do we want to put in each brick that we lay down?

Uranus in Taurus is forming a supportive harmonious trine aspect to the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars, which could bring insight, clarity and a different perspective to help shift us out of stasis and enable us to break through to the other side. Uranus can help us to see so clearly where we might be stuck or resistant to change, and once we see something that clearly it is hard to unsee it. We may gain more insight into our patterns, thought processes, programming and attitudes, which can create a shift that could be quite profound. Uranus is the planet of freedom that liberates us from the known, and so there is a sense that whatever structures we build and whatever foundations we lay down during this time could ultimately bring a sense of liberation and the freedom to be who we really, truly are, at our core.

Saturn, the ruler of this Moon, is also forming a harmonious, supportive sextile aspect to the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars. Saturn in Pisces can help bring form and structure to any long held dreams or longings. It can literally help us to dream up our new, ideal, longed for reality. Saturn also rules endings, limitations and karmic cycles, and with Saturn coming to the end of Pisces we could experience the closure of a karmic cycle, a sense of completion and culmination and the sense of getting ready to move into the next phase. We may need to put some boundaries in place in order to move forward, as Saturn asks us to choose what we are bringing with us and what must be left behind. There is a sense the most of the work is done now, and that we are in the waiting room, waiting for the door to open so we can then see what comes next.

Saturn moves into Aries on 14 February and joins forces with Neptune on 17 February, which is also the Aquarius New Moon/Eclipse, and the beginning of the year of the Fire Horse, bringing new energy and new life. The Sabian Symbol for 0° Aries, where these two powerful planets meet, is “A woman just risen from the sea. A seal is embracing her”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “Emergence of new forms and of the potentiality of consciousness.” So interesting also that Saturn can give form and structure to our Neptunian dreams, yearnings and longings. Indeed, Neptune represents consciousness and Saturn represents form.

Neptune is currently still at 29° Pisces, which is the very last degree of the entire zodiac, preparing to make the shift into Aries on 27 January. It is also forming a sextile to the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars. There is a higher intelligence at work here, and we are called to trust in it and allow anything that needs to fall away to do so, with grace, compassion, forgiveness and acceptance. We are at the end of a cycle that began in April 2011, when Neptune first went into Pisces.

Neptune’s involvement brings a sense of quiet inner knowing that somehow we are laying the foundation for something both beautiful and aligned. It is important to pay attention to our dreams and to be open to the signs and synchronicities that show us that we are heading in the right direction. Whatever is meant for us should feel effortless, with no need to force anything. A chapter is ending and we are called to close the door, very gently, with love, and not look back. We have learned all that we can now, and we are preparing to step into a new way of being that is the culmination of all the wisdom we have accrued over the past few years. We have an opportunity, right now, to carry forward the wisdom from the lessons learned and to release the pain attached to them, so that we can step onto a path that feels absolutely right, as if it is the reward for all that we have been through. This is an important moment, when something is dissolving before we can experience the new dawn.

Pluto and Venus are also joining together in Aquarius, exact on 19/20 January. This conjunction adds significantly to the energy of this New Moon, as it brings the potential for transforming the way we operate in relationships, releasing our more conditioned way of being in relationship and opening up to a new way of relating that is freer, lighter, and more aligned with our truth. This combination brings the potential for sowing the seeds for a radically honest, open, authentic way of relating that is very different, new, refreshing and aligned. It is time to throw the rule book out and venture on a new journey of discovery!

This New Moon brings the potential for soul connections that offer growth and freedom, and feel like they are the way forward into this new reality that is forming. The Capricorn energy can help us to create better boundaries and lay the groundwork so that we can build something that has integrity, maturity, mutual accountability and the potential to be long lasting, and this includes our relationships. With Pluto and Venus in Aquarius, we have the potential for a rebirth in the realm of our values, self-worth and relationships, whereby we have a chance to release ourselves from the old, outworn, programmed way of relating that hasn’t worked for us so far. It’s time to try something new on for size!

Mars and Mercury and also joining forces in Capricorn, and are only two degrees away from this New Moon. This combination can bring the courage to have some honest, direct, open, mature, frank, realistic, brave, bare-bones conversations that we might have been putting off because they are too hard. There is no sugar coating with Mars and Mercury in Capricorn, so we could be called to be very real! Indeed, this is a very decisive combination that could involve us facing reality and setting some strong intentions that we are prepared to take full responsibility for. We may be called to state our bottom line, drawing a line in the sand and setting some clear intentions and boundaries. We are called to be very honest with ourselves and others and could make a decision or inner commitment that somehow shapes our destiny.

What a powerful combo to have on a New Moon, as it combines our will with our thoughts and can be strongly intentional. Those of us with personal planets or angles between 26° and 29° of a sign, especially the cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, will be feeling the energy of Mars, Mercury, the Sun, Moon and all of these other planets close to the end of the sign that they are in. What a powerful Moon this is!

The Sabian symbol, at 29° Capricorn, definitely gives a nod to the Neptune energy in the Moon: “A woman reading tea leaves”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The ability to see the signature of hidden meaning in every occurrence drawing one’s attention. Man has always sought to interpret the meaning of events or situations which baffle him in terms of specific omens or “Signatures.” The reading of tea leaves is only a commonplace modern version of a certain type of procedure used by priests of all ancient religions. The practice is based on a realisation of “the relation of everything to everything else” – a definition of astrology given by Marc Jones. Dream interpretation in depth psychology belongs to the same category, as it is based upon the establishment of a close connection between the unconscious and the conscious. But in dream analysis the individual unconsciousness, at least at first, is mainly referred to, while in omens (or modern fortune telling at its best) one relies upon the power of occult forces or entities to convey the information that will clarify confusing situations. What is implied here is the ability not only to perceive the facts of everyday existence, but to see through these facts and discover how they are related to the realm of basic meanings or archetypal processes. This is essentially what is meant by true CLAIRVOYANCE, the capacity to see in everything the Signature of deeper realities.”

What potential this Moon holds! It certainly doesn’t feel like we are supposed to force anything, rather we are called to follow the calling of our hearts and recognise and commit to what is unfolding naturally. There is a sense that the lessons have been learned and the time is ripe to move on, consciously. This Moon seems to bring a powerful message to release anything that is not ours to carry forward. It is a time to forgive, let go, make peace with the past and to make a clear decision about the kind of reality we want to create. We are ready, and it is time to welcome the new energy coming in, whatever it may look like, making conscious choices about what comes with us and what we leave behind. What kind of reality do we want to create? Now is the time to lay down the foundations for this next cycle with intention, love, trust and accountability. Soon the doors will open, but first we must do that last little bit of work to clear the way.

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

CANCER FULL MOON - 3 January 2025

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/cancer-full-moon-3-january-2025

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/cancer-full-moon-3-january-2025#comments

Full Moons

Supermoons

Exact at 10.02am UK time (GMT) There is something very sobering about this Full Moon, with so much planetary energy now in realistic, responsible and practical Capricorn. On the one side we have the Moon and Jupiter in emotional, sensitive, nurturing, home-loving Cancer, while on the other side we have the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars in a sign that tends to control the emotions and be quite stoic. The Cancer part of us tends to feel all of the feelings and allows emotions to guide the way, while the Capricorn part of us may suppress the emotions in favour of more practical and realistic considerations. During this Moon we could feel a tug of war between the two signs and may feel torn in some way between what our emotions are telling us and what seems to be more sensible, mature or reasonable.

The Moon is very much at home in her own sign, Cancer. We may experience heightened emotions in the build up to this Full Moon, and what comes up may not be particularly rational, although all of that Capricorn energy may try to stuff it back in the box and make sense of it! A Cancer Full Moon calls for us to honour our emotions and dare to be vulnerable, even if it feels scary or uncomfortable. With all of the Capricorn energy, we could be pondering some serious subject matter right now, as Capricorn calls for commitment, maturity, discipline, longevity and integrity. It is also interesting that Venus and Mars are sitting either side of the Sun, as it could bring the subject of relationships to the fore, as things come to a head so we can’t ignore them anymore. Venus in Capricorn is not light and fluffy – it demands maturity, serious intention, self-reflection, contemplation, structure and commitment to creating a solid foundation that can stand the test of time.

During this Moon we could be called to be very real and emotionally honest with ourselves. Capricorn brings a sobering element to the picture of this Moon, whereby we are called to see things as they really are, or make a concrete decision, or create a clear boundary, or step up to the plate somehow. We are being asked to be proper grown-ups! The Cancer part of us feels all of the feelings, while the Capricorn part of us puts those feelings into some kind of container that helps keep us safe. However, the key is to honour and allow the feelings rather than stuffing them down, pushing them away or suppressing them. It is good to have some degree of control over our emotions, but not so much that we can hardly feel them!

The Cancer part of us can sometimes be at the mercy of our emotions, and can be irrational, needy, childlike or insecure at times, while the Capricorn part of us takes full responsibility for ourselves, our actions and our emotions. However, Cancer can teach our inner Capricorn to be vulnerable and open with our feelings rather than holding it all back though fear of appearing weak, unreasonable or needy, or through fear of rejection. Emotions are not rational, and we can’t necessarily control them or reason them away, but what we do with those emotions certainly is our responsibility. Equally, we don’t have control over what other people do or say, but we do have control over how we react, respond and process any emotions that come up.

The ruler of Capricorn is Saturn, which is coming to the very end of its two and a half year journey through Pisces and will move into Aries on14 February. Saturn in Pisces can help us to create healthy boundaries that keep us safe, although Pisces teaches us that they can be gentle, soft and compassionate, rather than hard, unyielding walls of protection! Saturn is the Lord of Karma, and it feels important and poignant that it is now in the last few degrees of the entire zodiac. This is a time to close old karmic cycles, contracts, conditioning and patterns so that we are truly ready to move into the next phase, whatever that looks like!

Both Saturn and Neptune are at the end of Pisces right now, and so we are called to do our last bit of clearing, shedding and releasing before we enter the Year of the Fire Horse on 17 February. There may be grief in letting go, and that needs to be honoured, but we are currently being called to surrender and let go of anything that is simply not for us. This Moon seems to be calling for a kind of maturity and accountability that maybe we haven’t had before, and Saturn seems to be helping us to shed old, inherited patterns that simply no longer serve us. This has been a whole year of shedding and clearing, but we are now being called to have one last push to make sure we have squeezed out all of the gunk! A Cancer Full Moon is an ideal time to allow our emotions to show us what still needs looking at so that we can let go and move forward.

The Cancer Moon is also forming a supportive trine with the North Node in Pisces, which brings the potential for us to move forward on a soul level. The Pisces North Node has been calling for us to let go of trying to force outcomes and simply surrender to the flow, accepting that ultimately we are not in control. We are called to trust in the higher intelligence of the universe and to follow the cues, synchronicities and signs rather than resisting them. With Neptune, the ruler of the Pisces North Node, currently coming to the very end of the very last degree of the zodiac, this is a tender time of clearing, forgiving, releasing and surrendering. Tears may flow, especially during a Cancer Moon, and this could be so cleansing and purifying. It is so important to honour any emotions that come up at this time, as they are clearing the way for whatever is about to come in.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 14° Cancer, is a powerful one “A very old man facing a vast dark space to the northeast” which Dane Rudyar describes as “Fulfillment in transcending and changeless wisdom. This symbol describes the Wise Old Man, an archetypal figure found in all systems of symbolism. The Wise Old Man faces the Changeless Reality, the true north - which for us is located in a northeast direction. He faces the great Void, that apparent Darkness which is an intense Light invisible to our senses. Implied in this symbol is that by consistently and for a long time meditating on the changeless and spiritual reality at the very core of all experiences, one can attain the supreme and age-old wisdom. We see in the symbol a way beyond appearances and toward PERMANENCE IN TRUTH.”

This sobering Sabian symbol talks of having the wisdom accumulated with age and life experience to face the unknown, something vast and bigger than we can as yet fathom. It gives the sense that we are standing on the precipice is something that is not familiar, so that we will need to find our way and release old patterns that are no longer relevant to wherever we are going. This feels very much in keeping with Saturn and Neptune ending their cycle in Pisces, and also gives a nod to the huge amount of Capricorn energy present at the moment. We must release the past and step forward into the unknown, not falling back into familiar, outworn patterns, but not rushing forward either. Now, at this moment, we are standing still and waiting for what lies ahead.

A Cancer Full Moon asks for us to be vulnerable and dare to reveal our true feelings, while Capricorn calls for maturity, integrity, accountability and full responsibility for ourselves and our feelings. This does feel like a very serious, weighty Full Moon that could call for us to step up to the plate somehow and set strong intentions, goals and big resolutions and lay down some strong foundations for whatever lies ahead. It is a powerful time for making commitments to ourselves and others. With Venus and Mars so close together, straddling the Sun and opposing the Moon, relationships are definitely highlighted and some strong emotions could come up to be processed and resolved.

The key to a Cancer Full Moon is to feel into the emotions and listen to what they tell us, which is Cancer’s domain, while also keeping our feet on the ground and being realistic and pragmatic, which is Capricorn’s superpower. Ultimately we are being called forward into a new level of emotional maturity that is beautiful and profound, but may also feel new and as yet unfamiliar. Like the old man, we must simply stand still and be brave and open to whatever awaits us around the next bend of the river.

Much love

Amy
xoxo

Picture: Luna Yin Yang Moon – Kitty Bitty

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON - 20 December 2025

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/sagittarius-new-moon-20-december-2025

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/sagittarius-new-moon-20-december-2025#comments

New Moons

Solstice

Exact at 1.43am UK time (GMT) This particular New Moon is full to the brim with Sagittarius, and is a reminder to keep the faith. We have the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Juno all in this hopeful, optimistic, forward thinking, philosophical sign, helping us to look forward, aim high and set some hopeful intentions for the month ahead. It might be interesting to note the conversations and subject matter of our musings during this time, as this will give us a clue as to our deepest hopes and wishes. Something may need to be left behind in the dark of the Moon, making space for what is waiting to come in. This number 9/ Snake year has been a time of releasing and shedding, and we are now approaching the Solstice, so this Sagittarius Moon calls for us to do some more clearing, releasing and letting go and then we are encouraged to look forward and not look back.

Sagittarius is the part of us that has faith, and seeks to understand the truth of life and our existence. It is the part of us that experiences intuitive “knowing”, even if we can’t exactly rationally explain why or how we know what we know. Sagittarius is the adventurous part of us that likes to roam free, opening our minds and broadening our horizons. It is the part of us that dreams of greener pastures and can sometimes feel restless and dissatisfied with life if it has become too dull, stagnant or routinised. Sagittarius questions and explores and is always seeking to grow and expand. It helps us to see the silver lining in every cloud and the light at the end of every tunnel, because it understands that every experience, no matter how difficult, has something to teach us and can help us to grow. It helps us to maintain a sense of humour even in the most difficult of times.

This could be a good Moon for contemplating what truly inspires us and ignites our passion and enthusiasm, and for setting intentions that can help us to grow and expand beyond where we are now. It might help to look at where we feel stuck or restless, and to recognise what is holding us back from what we truly want for ourselves. We could be called to be really honest with ourselves, recognising any beliefs, patterns, obstacles or attitudes that might be preventing us from taking the leap of faith that we so dearly desire. Sagittarius isn’t afraid to shoot for the stars, but so often we hesitate to aim that high, as doubts and fears get in the way. This Moon invites us to truly let go of what is not meant for us so that we can fully focus on what we want to bring in. “Keep the Faith!” says Sagittarius! Sometimes that is not so easy, however.

The ruler of this Sagittarius Moon is Jupiter, which is currently retrograde in Cancer, which could make it a bit harder to see our way forward, or to feel quite as upbeat, hopeful, enthusiastic, jovial and optimistic as we might usually do during Sagittarius season. Jupiter is very happy in Cancer, however, bringing warmth, emotional intelligence, generosity of spirit and helping us to share our feelings and vulnerabilities with one another. It points towards quieter, more private emotional growth, whereby we benefit from tending to our inner world rather than chasing something outside of ourselves or some far away dream.

Growth is an inside job when Jupiter is in sensitive, nurturing, family-oriented Cancer! Our emotions have great wisdom and can show us the way. We may benefit greatly from exploring our ancestral line during this time, and recognising the beliefs and patterns that have carried forward from generation to generation.

While we do have a lot of Sagittarius energy during this Moon, the Sun, Moon, Venus and Juno are all being challenged by Saturn and Neptune in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus, which could temper the enthusiasm somewhat, making the atmosphere feel a bit heavy and bleak and testing our faith somewhat. Both Saturn and Neptune are back in Pisces having dipped into pioneering, energetic Aries for a little while this year. They have some finishing off to do in Pisces! Saturn is the planet of structure, limitation, commitment and reality, and could have a bit of a sobering effect on this Sagittarius New Moon. Sagittarius has ultimate faith and sets its sights high, while Saturn calls for us to ground our dreams in reality and could bring up fears and doubts, testing our optimism and faith. Sagittarius is a bit like enthusiastic and buoyant Tigger from the Winnie the Pooh books, while Saturn brings Eeyore energy to rain on Tigger’s parade!

The square between Saturn and Venus is building in strength during this Moon, exact on 21 December, the day of the Solstice. This can be a testing time for our relationships and self-worth, Although it could help us to be very real with one another. It could also bring fear of lack and a need to tighten the purse strings. Saturn calls for us to get real about our relationships and financial situation, seeing things as they really are rather than how we would like them to be. It can also help us to create better boundaries, especially if we have been over-extending and over-giving. Venus in Sagittarius wants to have a jolly time and is very sociable, while Saturn can bring more restraint and could even bring feelings of loneliness, heaviness or withholding of affection. We could experience inner conflict between the seasonal pressure to be uber sociable and the need to turn inward and embrace solitude. In an ideal world we will be able to honour both.

Neptune is still sitting at 29° Pisces, the very last degree of the entire zodiac, which feels so poignant as we come to the end of this Snake/Number 9 year. There is a sense that we are closing a chapter, but it is unclear what is coming next, as Neptune can make things rather confusing and foggy. This is a time of release, surrender and letting go, and we could experience feelings of grief, overwhelm, confusion or disillusionment as we do so. Neptune is the ruler of the Pisces North Node, which is calling for us to let go of the need to control outcomes and simply surrender to the flow, accepting what is rather than trying to force anything. Neptune is calling for us to clear and wash away anything that is still muddying our waters.

Sagittarius is full of energy, enthusiasm, faith and fire, while Neptune in this very important degree of Pisces is calling for us to turn within and be still. Neptune square the Sun, which is exact early on 21 December, can bring fatigue, listlessness, confusion, overwhelm and ungroundedness. As such, it is so important that we are kind to ourselves and others during this New Moon and Solstice, and do what we can to ground ourselves. It is an ideal time to strengthen our relationship with Spirit, through meditation, prayer, singing, dancing, spending time in nature or whatever brings us a sense of spiritual connection. Our dream life could be prolific and our dreams could contain important messages, and it is important to pay attention to the subtle signs and messages that the universe is sending our way.

Neptune goes back into Aries on 27 January, sparking new energy, and until then we are called to release, surrender, grieve, forgive, let go, allow and accept. It may not make sense, but this is a time of completion, when things may simply fall away, because they are not meant for us anymore. It might help to look back to March 30 2025, and the few weeks that preceded it, as this is when Neptune first left Pisces to move into Aries, so the energy of that time is akin to now. Except that this time Neptune will be leaving Pisces for good. This is a powerful and important time in our spiritual journey and it will be interesting to see what might happen between now and 27 January. What might need to dissolve and end? What needs to be washed away? Who and what do we need to forgive so that we can move onto the next phase, whatever that might look like? What do we need to let go of, once and for all, so that we can move on?

Uranus is forming a nagging inconjunct aspect to the Sun and Moon, which could add to the restless energy of this Sagittarius New Moon. Uranus in Taurus can make us all too aware of where we are stuck or stagnant and what needs to change. Uranus can be quite disruptive, bringing curve balls and sudden jolts that create greater awareness, insight and clarity around what needs to change in our lives. Our nervous systems could feel a bit jangly, and we could feel on edge and vaguely unsettled, which could bring feelings of anxiety, especially combined with the energy of Saturn and Neptune. We could feel a bit uncomfortable, feeling like the ground is shifting under our feet but not knowing what lies ahead. However, ultimately Uranus can liberate us from unhealthy patterns and bring clarity, revelation and insight, so maybe we simply need to obey Saturn and be patient and wait. All will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Mercury in Sagittarius is directly square the Node of the Moon, which could mean that while our minds want certainty and to make sense of things, there are somethings that our minds simply can’t fathom, and this could be one of those times! The North Node in Pisces is calling for us to simply trust and allow things to unfold as they will, putting our faith in a higher intelligence and an unknown outcome. There could be fated conversations, messages, communications or inner realisations that are somehow very important during this Moon. We could be called to trust our intuitive hunches, reading between the lines and paying attention to the hidden meaning and subtle signs and synchronicities. Sometimes we need to give the mind a rest and admit that we don’t know, putting our trust in something bigger and more divinely intelligent than ourselves, and this might be one of those moments. Some things are too big for the limited capacity of our rational minds to grasp. We simply need faith.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 29° Sagittarius, is intriguing: “A fat boy mowing the lawn of his house on an elegant suburban street”, which Dane Rudyar describes as: “The need to attend to everyday tasks which both ensure social worth or respectability, and benefit one’s constitution. A well-attended front lawn is a symbol of the homeowner’s concern for his social position and of his desire to give beautiful form to the growth of natural forces, thus revealing his appreciation of order and aesthetic values. The “fat boy” suggests that constructive working habits are needed to compensate for self-indulgence in the amenities of social living. This symbol speaks of one of the commonplace technical imperatives which face an individual belonging to the social elite. It reveals another phase in the cycle relationship between the individual and the community, and the need to maintain SOCIAL RESPECTABILITY.”

Sagittarius is such an enthusiastic sign that can bring so much optimism, faith and hope, even in the darkest of times. This Moon urges us not to lose faith, even when things seem hard, heavy, dark or bleak. Venus sitting right next to the Sun and Moon certainly brings the potential for love, affection and a sense of humour as we approach the Solstice. With Saturn and Neptune involved, however, we could experience feelings of overwhelm, sensitivity, fear or even foreboding, and we may struggle to feel grounded with the fast pace of a Sagittarius season. We are being called to clear, wash away and release, finding true compassion and forgiveness in our hearts so that we can fully let go and move on. What awaits us on the other side is unknown, but Sagittarius invites us to keep the faith, look forward and don’t look back. It’s time to let the light in.

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Painting: Inner Light, by Amy Bird

GEMINI FULL MOON - 4 December 2025

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/gemini-full-moon-4-december-2025

https://www.amybirdartandastrology.com/moon-musings/gemini-full-moon-4-december-2025#comments

Full Moons

Supermoons

Exact at 11.14pm UK time (GMT) This Full Moon activates the Nodes of the Moon, which feels quite fateful and could force us out of our comfort zones and help us to grow and evolve. It is also a Supermoon, which amplifies the energy of the Full Moon and has a greater effect on our mind, body, emotions and spirit. Full Moons are a moment of culmination, when whatever has been simmering away in the background comes to the surface. A Gemini Full Moon is generally quite lively and could bring a lot of communication and mental chatter, not to mention information overload. It is important to watch our thought patterns during this Moon, as whatever we think and say can have a bigger impact than usual.

The Sun is now in optimistic, philosophical, adventurous Sagittarius, sitting directly opposite the curious, talkative, adaptable Gemini Moon. As ever, we are called to find some balance between the energy of the two signs, rather than veering too far in either direction. Gemini is the part of us that likes to gather a lot of information in order to make sense out of things, which can lead to overwhelm as we take in too much. The Sagittarius part of us, on the other hand, has a strong intuition and gut instinct, but may struggle to find the right words to express our inner knowing. Sagittarius can be quite blunt when voicing beliefs and truths! This is where Gemini comes in, helping us to deliver what we intuitively know in a way that people can understand and accept.

The pace generally quickens with a Gemini Full Moon, as our minds are more active and it can feel like a lot is going on. Indeed, we could feel a bit over-stimulated, confused and scattered, as if we have our finger in too many pies at once! Our conversations could have greater significance, and we may find that we need to voice something important. This Moon activates the throat chakra, so we could become more aware if it is open or blocked. There is the potential for throat issues, which could be a sign that we need to work on having a voice and communicating honestly and clearly.

The ruler of this Gemini Moon is Mercury, which is still in Scorpio and is now direct after being retrograde. As such, the conversations we have around this time are not likely to be superficial, but could be deep, penetrating, exposing, emotionally honest, revealing and psychologically insightful. Scorpio is not afraid of peering into some dark corners to bring out the truth, even if it is not pretty! Mercury is also forming a nagging inconjunct to Chiron the Wounded healer, bringing open, candid and potentially difficult, triggering or painful conversations that could ultimately be very healing. Emotions can ride high during a Full Moon, so it is important to be mindful of what we think and say. Our minds could go to some rather deep and dark places with Mercury in Scorpio, and we could find ourselves either delivering or receiving some home truths that are not very comfortable. Scorpio forces us to be emotionally honest, and with the Sun, Venus and Mars all in Sagittarius, the truth seeker, we may blurt out some truths that are somewhat hard to stomach!

The Sun and Moon are forming an exact mutable square with the Nodes of the Moon, which feels very significant and brings a fated quality to this Full Moon. We are currently being called to release ourselves from any unhelpful qualities of the Virgo South Node, such as self-criticism, worry, over analysing, perfectionism or trying to control outcomes. We are being called towards the energy of the Pisces North Node, which involves truly learning to go with the flow, not forcing things but rather recognising the signs and following where we are being guided. Pisces asks us to be fully present and to develop greater acceptance and forgiveness of our flaws, and to cultivate a deeper connection with Spirit. The Nodes are a huge part of this Moon, so it can help to recognise any opportunities we have to step towards the Pisces North Node, and to be mindful when we might be falling back into any unhelpful Virgo tendencies.

With the Sun and Moon squaring the Nodes, we could be called to watch the way our mind works, recognising how our mental chatter, thought patterns, worry and over-analysis prevents us from finding a sense of flow and connection. Instead of overthinking or relying on logic and reason, we are called to still the mind and tune into our inner knowing and internal guidance, reconnecting with our spiritual compass. Pisces calls for us to surrender to something bigger than ourselves, letting go of the reins and allowing Spirit to guide us. There could be some fated conversations or messages coming through that lead us in the right direction. Prayer, meditation, consulting the IChing,Tarot or oracle cards, using a pendulum or talking to a trusted healer, spiritual teacher, therapist or counsellor could be very helpful and illuminating during this time.

This is not the time to rely solely on logic, or try and figure everything out with our minds. The Pisces North Node invites us to heed the quiet voice within, listening to our gut following the signs and omens, even if it doesn’t make total sense and feels a bit scary or uncomfortable. This mutable square could also help us to recognise the inner chatter and stories we are telling ourselves, and to let them go, finding greater acceptance for ourselves. It can also help us to listen to other points of view, rather than getting too fixated on our own point of view. Indeed, there could be some important exchanges during this Moon that could be quite fateful and can show us the way. Messages from Spirit can come in many guises, so it is important to be open, mindful and alert, and we could benefit from opening up a line of communication with Spirit, or God, or Source, or the Divine, or whatever is our preferred label for the unseen forces that guide us.

There is also a Grand Water Trine occurring during this Moon, which is rather beautiful and could really help us to connect to our inner wisdom and guidance. It also involves the ruler of the Moon, Mercury in Scorpio, as well as Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer. Neptune in Pisces is also involved, although more loosely. This Grand Trine calls for us to use our emotional intelligence and feel the feelings, as our emotions can help guide us in the right direction. This Trine invites us to connect with a deeper wisdom, to look beneath the surface and to have compassion for whatever we find there. Saturn’s involvement can make everything very real, and combined with Mercury our thoughts and conversations could be rather real, sombre and weighty.

Gemini may be quite a light, airy sign, but this Full Moon doesn’t feel light. However, this Grand Water Trine does help us to see the bigger picture, while also helping us to keep our feet on the ground and see things as they really are. Luckily the Sun, Venus and Mars all in Sagittarius can also help us to keep the faith and maintain a sense of humour. Sagittarius helps us to find a sense of higher meaning, even in the darkest of times, and can always see the light at the end of the tunnel and a lesson in everything that happens to us.

That being said, Mars and Saturn are also squaring off against each other, exact on Monday 8 December, which could affect our energy levels and motivation, and could possibly make it a bit harder to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We may struggle to see a way forward and could doubt ourselves and find ourselves blocked from acting, or feel physically tired or drained. We may experience feelings of futility and fear of the unknown that prevents us from being brave and taking risks. There may also be ideological conflicts with authority, or force being used by those in authority.

Ultimately Saturn can help us to act with discipline and integrity and could test our capacity to commit to a course of action. We may be called to do the right thing even if it is the hardest thing to do. Saturn teaches us patience, so we could simply need to wait for the right time to act. It may feel like we are procrastinating, but sometimes it is merely a case of waiting for divine timing and inspiration. If the way forward feels blocked, it may help to simply trust that now isn’t the time, and that we will somehow know the right time to act. Possibly we are simply being called to surrender our will to a higher authority. Those of us with personal planets or angles within a couple of degrees of 25° of a sign will feel the energy of this Mars Saturn square the most acutely, especially the mutable signs, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 14° Gemini, feels like it is pointing us to the Pisces North Node and the Grand Water Trine: “Bridging physical space and social distinctions, two men communicate telepathically”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The capacity to transcend the limitations of bodily existence. In order to function in the world of material entities man needs to focus the energies of life in a limited organism and an ego-mind that is formed by the pressures of a particular culture and family background. Yet a time comes when the individual can still transcend the limiting boundaries of culture and ego. An effort should then be made to enter a realm of consciousness in which the communication from mind to mind can take a more direct form, because the minds then operate within the One Mind of humanity. It is then as if two cells in human body were communicating to each other, perhaps through some kind of invisible nerve channels, or, as it were, from nucleus to nucleus by means of vibratory resonance. With this symbol we see the potentiality of a new technique to be used in the “newly opened lands” confronting the pioneers in human evolution. It is a TECHNIQUE OF TRANSCENDENCE. It evidently can also bring confusion and many failures, as well as illusory claims and self-deceit.”

This symbol seems to be calling for us to connect in ways that transcend words, and to interact on a more felt, intuitive, emotional level. There is more going on in each conversation than mere words, and maybe we are being called to tap into the deeper thread that runs alongside our interactions. Neptune is still sitting at 29° Pisces, where it will stay until 26 January. As we near the end of the Year of the Snake and prepare to move into the Fire Horse year on 17 February, what else do we need to shed? What remains for us to release and let go of? What is coming to completion? What started in 2011, when Neptune entered Pisces, that is now culminating? It does feel as if we are being called to turn inward, for now, and connect deeply with our emotions and inner guidance system, and that the most important conversation that we can have right now is with Spirit. As we do so, hopefully we will be shown the way.

Much Love

Amy
xoxo

Picture: Wise woman meditation- Unknown
