The Moon certainly has the potential to fire us up and could bring some heated emotions up to the surface for us to look at! Aries is the first fire sign of the zodiac, and is quite impulsive, enthusiastic and brave. It is the initial spark that ignites the fire, although we must then watch that the fire doesn’t burn out of control! It feels quite appropriate that we would have an Aries Full Moon right after Eclipse season, which represented a time of new beginnings and the start of a new cycle. It certainly does feel like this Eclipse season was a game changer! Aries gives us our pioneering spirit and likes to initiate new things, so it could give us the courage to “light the match” and take the plunge somehow. However, Full Moons also represent a time of culmination, so we could find things somehow coming to a head, as any issues we may be dealing with could be hard to ignore.

We are now in Libra season, with the Sun in peace-loving, fair-minded, diplomatic Libra, sitting directly opposite the Moon in independent, forthright and courageous Aries. We are called to find some balance between the two signs rather than veering too far in either direction. The Libran part of us can tend to people-please and can easily ignore red flags in order to maintain a sense of peace and harmony, while the Aries part of us prefers to get things out in the open and clear the air, even if it means having an argument or rocking the boat. Aries helps us to know where our “No” is. However, sometimes Aries energy can go too far and can be too pushy, impatient, rash or quick to anger. Libra helps us to see reason and to take the other person’s point of view into account, reminding us that we can work things through in a softer, fairer and more reasonable manner, so that everyone feels listened to.

This Moon could make us more aware of where we might have been compromising too much, or letting things slide, or turning a blind eye, and to stand up for ourselves and assert our needs. We may find that whatever we have been putting up with becomes more intolerable as the direct, open, honest, assertive energy of Aries kicks in. If we have been sitting on the fence about something we may be called to decide where we stand. An Aries Moon could make us a bit hot under the collar, stirring up some strong emotions, but it could be helpful to get things out into the open where we can see them, rather than stewing on them and allowing resentment to build. It probably doesn’t need saying, but this could also play out in the collective, as tensions rise and threaten the peace. Aries is the kind of Moon that could bring out anger and aggression, and while the Libra Sun may seek balance and equilibrium, it can tend to swing from one extreme to another.

The ruler of this Aries Moon is Mars, the planet that represents our drive, will, motivation, desire, energy, passion, assertiveness and capacity for anger. Mars is currently in Scorpio, which could bring up intense feelings, passions and desires, and might also make us more aware of any power dynamics playing out in our lives. Mars likes to be in Scorpio, and it can help our willpower tremendously, although it can also fight with some very accurate and psychologically astute darts that might sometimes land below the belt! The Moon certainly could bring up some strong, raw, powerful emotions, as we could find ourselves quite triggered so that we are forced to face our shadows and confront some rather uncomfortable material. However, Mars in Scorpio does give us the courage to confront ourselves with emotional honesty and the willingness to own our not so pretty parts.

Mercury is a very big part of this Moon, as it is the focal point of a Yod, otherwise known as a Finger of God, which can bring fated events and are catalysts for spiritual growth and transformation. Mercury will also have just moved into Scorpio, which could bring penetrating, insightful and potentially triggering conversations that really go deep. We could also find that our minds are more focused and even obsessed about whatever we are thinking about. Mercury in Scorpio makes me think of the detective or the psychologist, searching for the truth below the surface, and not afraid to peer into some dark corners of the psyche!

The base of the Yod is made up of a helpful sextile between Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries, which can moments of grace and clarity, as well as realisations, epiphanies, amazing insight, intuitive downloads, synchronicities and inspiration. These two have been playing with each other since July, helping to bring the right message at the right time to help us connect the dots, and creating such potential for profound shifts in perspective that bring greater understanding and compassion for ourselves. Synchronicities abound with these two planets, and there is a sense that we can receive just the right information to help wake us up and see our patterns more clearly.

And now these two are pointing the “Finger of God” at Mercury in Scorpio, which could certainly increase the potential for insight and understanding, although some of the revelations, truths and information that comes into the light could be shocking and even unsettling, both personally and within the collective. Mercury in Scorpio isn’t afraid to delve into some deep and dark material, even if it isn’t very comfortable. Indeed, with Neptune involved our sleep could be affected and we could experience anxiety and overwhelm, so deep breathing could be helpful. Ultimately this Yod does bring the potential for greater clarity and emotional honesty, as it could reveal what has previously been hidden, and conversations and confessions could clear the air, expose what has been hidden and bring growth and transformation.

Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, is also forming a dynamic, challenging square aspect to Mercury, which intensifies the energy of this Moon, as it could force us to confront some subject matter we would rather avoid. Shocking revelations could reveal truths that could be uncomfortable but important for us to recognise rather than burying our heads in the sand. This is the kind of energy whereby we either speak or hear truths that need to be said and that penetrate to the heart of the matter. Pluto could mean that we dig and probe beneath the surface, bringing whatever has been swept under the carpet out into the open. And while we might not like what we see, the truth can be very liberating.

Those of us with personal planets and angles in the first couple of degrees of a sign will feel the energy of this Yod the most acutely. It may not be very comfortable, but the insight and understanding we gain could be transformational. There is also the potential for becoming a bit paranoid, fearful, anxious and obsessive in our thinking, and we cannot discount the potential for power plays, coercion and manipulation, so it is important to ground ourselves during this Moon. Deep breathing, time spent in nature and physical exercise could all be very helpful in managing the intense energy that is swirling around!

The Sabian Symbol for this Moon, at 15° Aries, is an interesting one: “An Indian weaving a ceremonial blanket” which Dane Rudyar describes as” Projecting into everyday living the realisation of wholeness and fulfilment. In Christian tradition one hears of Jesus’ “seamless robe.” In Asia one is told of the “spiritual vesture” of the Perfect Ones. The man who has attained the spiritual state is figuratively robed in the universe – and more precisely, in the Milky Way, the Great White Robe of interwoven stars. This is the ultimate kind of weaving. There was also Penelope’s weaving and unweaving, waiting for the return of her polarising mate. The mind of the American woman in which these symbols took concrete form could think only of “Indian Weavers.” For the white man who is hungering for symbols of a state of living in total harmony with the universe, the traditional Indian can be glamorised as the answer to the inner emptiness of the city-dweller surfeited with artificial values. At any rate, we may thus prefigure a future state of fulfilment in conscious harmony and unpossessive love.
If this symbol comes to the consciousness of the inquirer after meaning, deliberately or through an aleatory act of revelation (like the act of throwing sticks to obtain an I Ching symbol), implied is the profound fact that every individual has as his ultimate conscious task the weaving of his “immortal body,” his Gnostic Robe of Glory. It may sound very mystical and “far out,” but there is a moment in every cycle when, in however small a degree, every individual may be confronted with the potentiality of a fulfilling act of self-realisation and may, ever so relatively, find himself/herself “clothed in the light” for an instant. We are told by this symbol that the FULFILLMENT OF DESIRE is a possibility, at whatever level and in however incomplete a manner it may be experienced.”

May we all be clothed in light, in a state of fulfilment in conscious harmony and unpossessive love! With the North Node in Pisces, we are all being called to a higher vibration of love, learning what it means to truly go with the flow and not force things. It could be good to remember this during the more intense, edgy energy of this Full Moon, which could make us feel hasty, impatient, anxious and somewhat agitated. Whatever comes out during this time may make us feel somewhat uncomfortable, but we are meant to see it, rather than turning the other cheek or pretending it doesn’t exist. We may be in Libra season, but there certainly is a lot of Scorpionic energy around at the moment, which doesn’t allow us to pretend that everything is all nice and pretty! This Aries Moon could bring things to a head and shine the light on the shadows and also hopefully give us the courage to face whatever comes up!

Much Love

I love writing about the Moon and the effect it has on us all, both collectively and personally. We all look at the same Moon and feel her energy, albeit in different ways. It reminds us that we are not alone and there is something very comforting about that!
