LIBRA NEW MOON - 21 October 2025

Exact at 1.25pm UK time (BST)

This is quite a potent New Moon, as it is being activated by a lot of the heavyweight planets in one way or another. We could be called to leave something behind in the dark of the Moon that no longer serves us, to allow space for whatever is waiting to come in. This is a time for planting seeds for the month ahead, so it could help to be mindful of the thoughts that pop up during this time, the signs and omens that show the way and the conversations we have, as they could hold clues that reveal our deeper desires and intentions for growth. Libra is the sign of relationship, amongst other things, so we could find that our relationship patterns come to the fore during this Moon, potentially calling for us to decide what we need from our relationships as we move forward. We could find that new relationships come in, or we could have endings and/or an opportunity for a new beginning within our current relationships.

The Libra part of us likes things to be balanced, fair, harmonious, equal, reciprocal and mutual, so this could be a good time to consider what might be out of balance in our lives, and to recalibrate in order to bring a greater sense of harmony and equilibrium. What feels out of balance at the moment, physically, emotionally, spiritually? Is there a situation in our lives that feels unfair or unjust, and how can we redress the balance? Is there an equal balance between giving and receiving in our relationships? Do we tend to turn the other cheek and avoid conflict for the sake of keeping the peace or maintaining connection? Do we tend to lose ourselves in relationship? Are we prone to people pleasing? How can we better turn up in our relationships – what do we need to work on in ourselves, and what might we need from others? Where have we been compromising too much, or sitting on the fence? How can we bring more beauty and harmony into our lives?

Venus, the planet of love and beauty and the ruler of this Moon, is also in Libra, which is her home sign so she is happy there. Venus could make it easier to find a happy medium with others, finding a greater sense of peace, fairness and harmony and resolving any conflict. The Libra part of us can be very diplomatic and tactful and helps us to bring things up in a reasonable, considerate manner rather than being reactive or defensive.  Venus in Libra is very refined and graceful and really appreciates beauty, so this could be a good time to beautify ourselves or our surroundings in some way. It could also be a great time for collaboration, as Venus brings out our more sociable side and helps greatly with teamwork and cooperation. If we need to resolve something with anyone, this energy can help each person to really listen to each other and express their needs.

Interestingly, we also have Mars, the warrior planet, joining forces with Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication, in an exact conjunction, so it’s a good job we have all of this Libra energy around to smooth things over! However, this conjunction could be very helpful, as it brings the courage to confront and act upon anything we might have been trying to sweep under the carpet or ignore. Mars and Mercury are in Scorpio, a sign that calls for emotional honesty and isn’t afraid to peer into the shadows and bring up uncomfortable material. There is certainly the potential for power plays, heated discussions, truth-telling and conversations that really penetrate to the heart of the matter. This combination certainly won’t allow us to gloss things over or avoid confronting ourselves, and helps us to be real, even if it’s not “pretty” or “nice”.

However, the Libran energy can help us to have honest, revealing, questioning conversations both with ourselves and others while still being kind, tactful and graceful. In fact, when we are brave enough to be real, raw, honest, open, exposed and vulnerable, it can lead to a greater sense of connection and intimacy. Interestingly, Mars and Mercury are part of a harmonious Grand trine with Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn and the North Node in Pisces, helping bring a caring, nurturing energy and emotional intelligence to the picture, as well as grounded intuition, sensitivity, healthy boundaries, empathy and compassion. With the North Node involved, this could be a proper fated soul growth moment, especially for those of us with personal planets and angles between 15° and 22° of a sign. Mars and Mercury are at 20° Scorpio, while the North Node is currently at 17° Pisces.

Chiron the Wounded Healer in Aries is opposing the Libra Sun and Moon, which could also force us to be honest and open about our needs. Chiron is bringing deep healing around our right to exist and simply be who we are, as well as exposing any fears that if we assert ourselves, do what’s right for us or express our needs it will disturb the peace somehow or bring rejection or disconnection. The opposition between Libra and Aries calls for us to figure out a way to have connection and balanced relationships without abandoning ourselves or sacrificing our needs. Ultimately, we are being called to find a healthy balance between our need to be in relationship and our need for self-ownership and honouring our own path. Sometimes it is hard to find that balance!

Combined with Mars and Mercury in Scorpio, we have the potential for bringing hidden resentments out into the open and talking about them honestly and openly. We can’t have true harmony within our relationships unless we are brave enough to speak up. It doesn’t do anybody a service to hide our true feelings out of fear of rocking the boat or fear that we will be rejected for who we are. Silence and hidden resentment can destroy trust within our relationships in such an insidious way. This Moon seems to be asking us to be real and truthful, even if it is uncomfortable. And it starts with being honest with ourselves. Luckily, Venus in Libra is here to smooth the way and bring grace and consideration to our interactions!

The Sun and Moon are also the focal point of yet another Yod, or Finger of God formation, albeit this one is out of sign at the time the Moon is exact. Neptune and Uranus are both “pointing the finger” at the Sun and Moon while Pluto is forming a dynamic square to this lunation. We have such potential for profound shifts, soul growth, moments of clarity and spiritual insight at the moment, with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all connecting harmoniously with one another. There is the possibility of epiphanies, shifts in perspective, serendipitous opportunities and “aha” moments that can bring about profound transformation and growth, restoring balance. If we are open and listening, there is a sense that Spirit is very present and is sending us quite obvious messages, synchronicities and crystal-clear realisations, some of which could be quite uncomfortable and call for us to be very honest with ourselves. However, such amazing breakthroughs are possible right now!

Neptune moves from Aries back into Pisces only a few hours after the New Moon, where it will remain at 29° Pisces, the very last degree of the entire zodiac, until 27 January. This feels significant somehow, and could involve some kind of release and tying up loose ends, creating closure and completing a cycle that began when Neptune went into Pisces in 2011. 29° Pisces is such a powerful degree, and symbolises surrender, release, endings, spiritual connection, illusion and unity.  We could experience greater sensitivity, compassion, empathy and unity, and our connection to spirit could be very much heightened. The veil between the worlds could be thinner during this time, and our dream life could be quite fruity!

Neptune is the ruler of the Pisces North Node, so we are encouraged to let go and be open to the synchronicities, clues and signs that are guiding us to wherever we are supposed to be. What do we need to release, surrender or dissolve before we start fresh when Neptune moves into Aries for good? What cycle is ending? The house that Neptune is currently travelling through in our chart could hold some clues. We are called to turn inward and connect to our internal guidance system, especially if we feel confused, uncertain, oversensitive or overwhelmed. This isn’t a time to force things, as it will be much easier if we let go of the reins, lay back and enjoy the ride.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 29° Libra, is a powerful one: ”Mankind’s vast and enduring effort to reach for knowledge transferable from generation to generation”, which Dane Rudyar describes as ”A deep sense of participation in and commitment to, social processes which seek to bring to all men Truth and greater Life. The most characteristic trait in human nature is the ability to “bind time” (as Korzybsky once stated): that is, to transfer to other men as yet unborn the harvest of his conscious experiences and his deliberate endeavours. This ability far transcends instinct and biological mutations, for it is based on consciousness, choice, will and self-sacrifice for the sake of future human beings. It rests upon a deep feeling of the value of “community”; its use increases this feeling and eventually destroys the roots of loneliness. This symbol suggests the technique that makes a life truly “human.” To join other men and women in the vast process of a living civilisation is to fulfil the basic implications of the human stage of cosmic evolution – a stage characterised by CONSCIOUS PARTICIPATION.”

Libra is the sign that reminds us that there is no “I” in team! This Moon certainly has a lot of powerful planetary energy swirling around, that’s for sure! It does seem that we are being called to redress the balance somehow, whether that be physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually. Libra is a sign of extremes, so it is easy for the scales to tip too far one way or another. This Moon could help us to find the midpoint, or the middle ground. It is quite possible that we will be called to be raw, honest and open with ourselves and others, and face some uncomfortable material, but ultimately this could bring the harmony that Libra craves. Ultimately, Libra seeks peace. What do we need to do to truly find peace in our heart?

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

VIRGO NEW MOON / SOLAR ECLIPSE - 21 September 2025

Exact at 8.54pm UK time (BST)

This is such a powerful New Moon, as not only is it a Solar Eclipse, but it also occurs the day before the Equinox. Added to which, it involves an incredibly potent Kite formation and also a Yod, otherwise known as a Finger of God. The chart for this new Moon certainly is visually striking, let alone the energy of the planets involved! This is the second Virgo New Moon of this month, which is a rare thing and means that the Sun and Moon are literally in the very last degree of Virgo, which is such a powerful place for a New Moon/Eclipse to occur. The Pisces Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse of 6 September involved letting go, surrendering and releasing anything that no longer serves our greater good. The time in between the Eclipses has brought the potential for endings as we close one chapter of our lives, while this New Moon can help us to usher in the new energy to fill the space left behind. A new cycle is beginning.

We are in the final days of Virgo season, which will end as the Sun moves into Libra on Monday 22 September. Virgo can help us to declutter in our lives, clearing the way for the new cycle that is beginning. Virgo helps us to separate the wheat from the chaff, using the power of discernment to decide what we can keep and what needs to go. On a physical and energetic level, this is an ideal time to clear out our cupboards, both literally and metaphorically. The air literally feels clearer, and the qi can flow more easily when we organise and clean our physical space, which is also a symbolic act, as it helps us to release stagnant energy, old patterns and attachments, fostering a feeling of inner calm, peace and tranquillity. It is an act of self-care and kindness and respect towards self that helps us to feel less overwhelmed and better able to think more clearly.

Indeed, we are being called to use the Virgoan art of discernment to recognise what needs to change, untangling ourselves from any unhealthy attachments, patterns and dynamics that are restricting or binding us. Virgo can help us to see what is good for us and what is hurting us and to take the necessary steps to improve the situation. It can help us to create healthy routines that support us and make us feel better about ourselves and life in general. It can help us to become more mindful of what we are taking in and “digesting”, which is not only the food we eat, but the company we keep, the news we choose to listen to, the programmes we watch, the environments we spend our time in. Virgo knows all too well the impact that these things have on our system. This New Moon invites us to make positive choices to benefit our overall sense of well-being.

There is a powerful Kite formation during this Moon, and the focal point happens to be the Virgo Sun and Moon, which is so powerful! It involves all the main planetary players of the moment – the Saturn/Neptune conjunction is sitting directly opposite, while the Uranus/Pluto trine is forming a lovely supportive Grand Trine with the Sun and Moon. Saturn and Neptune have been helping us to get our heads out of the proverbial sand and see things as they really are, rather than dwelling in the dream, the fantasy, the illusion, the ideal, the longing, the yearning. It is a hard pill to swallow, this “reality” business, as it can literally be disillusioning, but it is so necessary to see things as they are rather than how we would like them to be. The opposition from Saturn and Neptune does bring the potential for our fears to surface, and could bring some anxiety and overwhelm, but it also helps us to create some healthy boundaries to protect us and keep us safe.

Meanwhile, Virgo can help us to make healthy choices for ourselves and clear out anything that is not contributing to our highest good. Added to which we have the Uranus/Pluto trine, which is very strong during this Moon, as it is almost exact. This has been giving us the gift of clarity and insight, helping us to see the patterns that are playing out in our lives so that we can transmute and transform them. While some of the things that are coming to light might be quite uncomfortable and hard to face, both personally and collectively, it is better to see them clearly and be honest about them, because then at least we know what we are dealing with and can work to clear them. There is something very liberating about this trine, as it can help us to free ourselves from old programming and conditioning, partly because it is somehow more visible and obvious than ever before. It is time to release ourselves from the prison, recognising the unhealthy and unhelpful patterns, attachments and dynamics that have been holding us back and keeping us small.

Venus and Mars are also very much involved in this Moon, as they are both being challenged by both Pluto and Uranus. This definitely adds to the cosmic soup! A Uranus and Venus square (exact Saturday 20th) brings the potential for shifting any unhealthy patterns in our relationships, liberating ourselves from old, unhelpful ways of relating. We could experience some shocks or surprises, although ultimately this could bring liberation. Pluto inconjunct Venus (exact Saturday 20th) can call for us to be very honest with ourselves around what isn’t working, calling for us to face some uncomfortable material. We may see things very clearly that we would rather avoid, but ultimately this insight can help us to make the necessary changes to improve our relationships and let go of any attachments that aren’t serving us anymore.

Pluto is also squaring Mars (exact Wednesday 24th), which is a powerful combination indeed. Combined with the Venus energy, it can make the need to purge, release and sever unhealthy attachments feel more intense and urgent, almost adding a cauterising energy to it. Pluto and Mars in Scorpio combined can be quite ruthless, which on the one hand could be helpful, as it could help us to be brave and could also bring up any resentment or suppressed anger that might be festering beneath the surface out into the light so that we can face it, own it and transmute it. However, this is also quite a volatile combination, so we could experience eruptions of rage, both personally and collectively.

With Uranus also forming an inconjunct to Mars (exact Wednesday 24th), sudden outbursts of anger are possible, although this could be very liberating, as it is better than seething resentment that sabotages our relationships in insidious and corrosive ways. This Uranus Pluto square is helping to bring things up and out so that we can see them clearly, and with Mars involved it might not be pretty but at least it will clear the air and help us to shift any stagnant, unhealthy, destructive energy that might be playing out beneath the surface and eroding our relationships, both personally and collectively. This is a very good opportunity to see, very clearly, how anger plays a part in our lives and how it is handled and expressed.

Those of us with personal planets and angles around 29° and 0/1° of a sign will be feeling all of this energy the most acutely. Mars is also the focal point of a Yod, or a Finger of God formation, involving Neptune and Uranus. As such, Mars is very much in the limelight right now, as the planet of drive, desire, motivation, anger and courage moves from peace-loving Libra into intense, transforming Scorpio on Monday 22nd, the day of the Equinox. Any feelings of anger and frustration could certainly become clearer and more visible, which could be shocking, but this Mars energy can also give us the courage and motivation to let go of anything that is not meant for us and to face up to anything we might have been avoiding or turning a blind eye to.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 30° Virgo, feels very resonant with so much of the planetary energy of this Moon: “Totally intent upon completing an immediate task, a man is deaf to any allurement”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The total concentration required for reaching any spiritual goal. This is the final symbol of the first half of the cycle. In the year cycle the fall equinox is now at hand; autumn begins. Through spring and summer many ways and byways have been experienced. The last message of this hemicycle of “Individualisation” is that on all decisive occasions what must be done has to be done so intently that no outer voices can penetrate the mind, still less the soul. The neophyte stands at the gates of the sacred Pyramid. There is only one step he can take – ahead, or he is lost. This is the culminating step, the decision that results from a myriad of small choices. Still a shadow of hesitation can remain. Attention may be distracted from the Now by a voice from the past, glamourising some old memory. The outer doors of perception and thought must be closed, so the soul can complete its CONQUEST OF ILLUSION.”

Wow, what a powerful and many layered symbol this is, and so appropriate for the potent energy of this Moon! This has been an incredibly powerful Eclipse season so far, with so much shedding, releasing, purging and letting go in order to make space for whatever is getting ready to come in. This Moon invites us to purify, declutter and clear the way so that we are able to allow that which is for our highest good to come in. We have a chance to draw a line in the sand and make a stand, sending a powerful message out into the universe that we are open and ready for whatever awaits us around the next bend of the river. The Pisces Full Moon helped us to let go, while this powerful New Moon can help us to rise out of the ashes, all shiny, cleansed and new, calling in that which is meant for us. A new chapter is beginning, and we must clear the channels and make ready.

VIRGO NEW MOON - 23 August 2023

Exact at 7.06am UK time (BST)

This New Moon is activating all the major planetary energy that is so prevalent right now, so it could help to prod us in the right direction for our growth. This process may not be particularly comfortable, but sometimes growth involves a certain degree of discomfort as we become aware of what needs to shift and change. We are preparing for Eclipse season now, and Virgo can help us to recognise what is out of alignment and do the inner work necessary to improve things and restore balance. Virgo is the part of us that can be intensely self-critical but can also imbue us with great humility and the capacity to see what needs tweaking so that we can be the best that we can be. Sometimes some critical introspection can be very helpful and growth-inducing, as long as it doesn’t go too far!

Virgo season kicks off with this New Moon, which tends to have a back-to-school feeling to it as we are invited to consider what kind of healthy habits and routines we would like to develop moving forward, and what tendencies and patterns we would like to shift and let go of. We may find ourselves somewhat preoccupied with the parts of us that we feel are lacking or inadequate, assessing ourselves and others with a more critical lens than usual. Virgo is the part of us that has the capacity to discern and discriminate between what is good, healthy and helpful and what is no longer good for us. It separates the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. A Virgo New Moon invites us to leave old, unhelpful habits, behaviours and patterns behind in the dark of the Moon and to replace them with some practical, healthy new habits that help us to feel good about ourselves.

As I mentioned, the New Moon is tapping into the plethora of planets that are at the beginning of the sign they are in, as the Sun and Moon are in the very first degree of Virgo. In fact, the Virgo Sun and Moon are at the apex of a powerful Yod or Finger of God formation, which involves Pluto and the Saturn/Neptune conjunction all “pointing the finger” at all things Virgo. With Pluto involved we might find that we are called to look at some uncomfortable material within us that might not be serving us anymore. Pluto forces us to be brutally honest with ourselves, owning those shadow parts of ourselves that we might more readily criticise in other people. Virgo calls for humility, self-analysis and the willingness to work on ourselves, while Pluto exposes the parts of ourselves that we might usually disown, bury and relegate to the shadows.

It could be helpful to explore whether the traits, habits and behaviour of other people that irk or bother us are actually part of us too. It is so easy to project our hidden, shadow parts onto others and to judge and criticise them, but when we do so we are judging and criticising ourselves too. With the North Node currently in Pisces, we are ultimately being called to find true compassion for ourselves and others, accepting those flawed, disowned, hidden, not so pretty parts of ourselves rather than judging or shaming ourselves and others. As we recognise and send love to these imperfect aspects of ourselves, they lose their power and become healthier and more integrated.

The Saturn Neptune conjunction is now on the wane as they both head back towards Pisces, although it is still fairly strong, and is also part of the Yod, which brings it back into focus for this New Moon. They are both still in Aries, a sign that likes decisive action, so we could find ourselves contemplating what plans we might want to put into action and how to actually make them happen. We could feel torn between what we dream of and yearn for and what is realistically possible. We could struggle with procrastination, fatigue, overwhelm and/or feelings of futility, whereby it is hard to see what lies ahead. Neptune calls for us to trust that we will somehow know what to do and when to act when the time is right. Saturn calls for us to be patient and pragmatic and, combined with the Virgo Moon, discern between obstacles that can be surmounted and any fears, blocks or resistance that we are able to work on within ourselves.

If we combine Saturn and Neptune in a positive way, we can set realistic and tangible goals that can help us to realise our longings and yearnings, combined with the capacity to act upon inspiration and a sense of divine timing. However, the nagging inconjunct aspect to the Virgo Sun and Moon could create feelings of frustration, overwhelm, self-doubt, self-judgement and even self-flagellation, whereby we are a bit hard on ourselves and feel like the way is not clear and that we are somehow not capable, worthy or deserving. This combination of Saturn and Neptune is also calling for us to create stronger, healthier boundaries in order to protect ourselves and feel safe. The Virgo Moon could call for us to discern between what is good for us and what is harming or draining us, and we might have to take off the rose-tinted spectacles in order to do so. However, this could be a tough pill to swallow! Sometimes it feels easier to bury our heads in the sand and avoid the reality of the situation, but this Moon could force us to get real and see things as they really are, rather than how we would like them to be.

The resolution point of this Yod is Pisces, which is where the North Node of the Moon is at the moment. Pisces reminds us that forcing things is futile, and that it is better to let go and flow with the current rather than against it, recognising where we are blocked and where the energy is easy and flowing. It also calls for us to find acceptance, love and compassion for our human frailty and for the flawed humanity of others. The Virgo part of us can easily worry and over think about past and future, while Pisces invites us into the present moment, where there is peace. The Virgo part of us can so easily beat ourselves up and find fault in others, while Pisces recognises that we are all imperfectly perfect and doing the best we can in this crazy world we are currently living in. It is important to be self-reflective and willing to look at ourselves and do the inner work, but we can also be kind and loving around what we find.

With Pluto being in Aquarius and trine its ruler, Uranus, in Gemini, we could find that we experience some flashes of insight, sudden revelations, realisations and clarity that transform us and help to liberate us from old conditioning and patterns that maybe we couldn’t see so clearly before. All it takes is someone saying something to us that helps us to see things from a different perspective, and we can experience profound shifts, breakthroughs and greater understanding of the patterns and habits that have been running the show and holding us prisoner. Uranus can bring a revelation and new perspective that is so simple that we can’t believe we hadn’t seen it before. And this new awareness can make all the difference, enabling us to see ourselves more clearly so that we can make the changes and shift the pattern. This is where the Virgo New Moon comes in, helping us to do the inner work and self-analysis and recognise what we need to tweak in order to grow.

Uranus is also forming a dynamic square aspect to the Virgo Moon, which could mean that the realisations come thick and fast and might be quite unexpected and even shocking. However, ultimately Uranus’s task is to wake us up and liberate us from the past that binds us. Conversations with others could bring some profound “aha” moments, and we could receive insights that jolt us into change and transformation. This Virgo Moon calls for us to look at ourselves with humility and see what might be in need of improvement, and Uranus can certainly bring moments of insight and new perspective that can help us to see ourselves and our patterns more clearly. Virgo then gives us the tools to ground these insights into practical solutions and new, healthy habits.

Venus in Cancer is very present during this Moon, bringing relationships into focus, as well as our own sense of self-worth and value. Chiron the wounded Healer is forming a dynamic square aspect to Venus, which could bring up some insecurities and feelings of rejection within our relationships, whereby we could question our worth and our sense of feeling safe in the world. Venus in Cancer wants to belong and seeks comfort, closeness and a sense of home. Chiron in Aries asks us to be true to ourselves and do what is right for us, even if it means going it alone. Our close relationships, romantic and otherwise, could trigger our sore spots, core wounds and insecurities and bring up feelings of defensiveness and vulnerability, but this could bring an amazing opportunity for healing.

Chiron will square Venus on the day of the New Moon, and the energy will be building a couple of days before. Those of us with personal planets or angles within a couple of degrees of 26° of the sign they are in will feel this energy most strongly, especially in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Venus will then move into warm, creative, expressive Leo on Monday 25, forming a supportive trine to Saturn and Neptune, which will help us to see our relationships in both a realistic and compassionate light. Saturn trine Venus helps us to be grounded and pragmatic around our relationships, possibly finding it easier to create healthy boundaries and draw a line in the sand around what we are willing to put up with. Neptune trine Venus helps us to drop the walls and ego and to relate to each other from a place of acceptance, unity and higher love. We may find it easier to see our loved ones and relationships as they really are, which could be helpful.

Venus will also be opposite Pluto, exact Wednesday, and sextile Uranus, exact Tuesday. This brings the potential for going deep and being brutally honest with ourselves around our self-worth and relationships, while also experiencing insight, clarity, breakthrough and a sense of liberation from old patterns and programming that might be running the show. We may be able to see our relationships and patterns of relating more clearly, which could bring freedom and transformation.

Those of us with personal planets or angles in the first couple of degrees of the sign they are in will be feeling the energy of this Moon and the Finger of God most acutely. Venus will be joining in the party for a little while on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing our relationships into focus. There certainly is an interesting mix of planetary energy at the moment!

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 1° Virgo, seems very appropriate indeed: “In a portrait, the significant features of a man’s head are artistically emphasised”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The capacity to picture to oneself clearly, the salient features and the overall meaning of any life situation. Now we have come in the seasonal cycle of the year to the sign Virgo. It is in a sense the symbol of harvesting, but it is also that of the Path of Discipleship, and of all strongly determined processes of training, or retraining. Flooded with and having enjoyed and released energy, the personalised consciousness now has to learn the lesson of significant form. It must be able to see life situations as wholes of experience, and to discover their meaning by distinguishing their most characteristic features. Implied in DISCRIMINATION is both analysis and intuition. The mind separates and identifies – and unfortunately often exaggerates – what makes a person or a situation different from another; but the intuitive responses of the whole person to what confronts him or her is also essential, for what matters is not only my or your “difference,” but the place and function this difference occupies in the organic pattern of the evolution of “humanity as a whole,” i.e. of Man.”

This Virgo Moon does seem to be calling for us to recognise how easy it is to see the flaws in others and how they are often aspects of ourselves that it might be hard to recognise or own. It can also highlight just how hard we can be on ourselves. However, none of us are perfect and it is so important to bring love, compassion and acceptance to our shadows and imperfections. We are all simply doing the best we can during some unprecedented and somewhat challenging times, as we walk the road less travelled, and so we are called to be patient and trust that the way will show itself. Forcing things is futile, so we must wait, sow the seeds, do the inner work, put one foot in front of the other, surrender and have faith that we will know what to do when the time is right.

LEO NEW MOON - 24 July 2025

Exact at 8.12pm UK time (BST)

This is an incredibly dynamic New Moon, with so much activity occurring in fire and air signs, which could really get things moving! The Sun and Moon are joining together in playful, creative, spontaneous, expressive Leo, and are tapping into the plethora of heavyweight planets that are playing such a huge part in the astrology of the moment. As such, this feels like a highly significant Moon that invites us to contemplate what truly brings us joy and how we might bring our hopes and dreams into form. This Moon is a welcome relief after the heaviness of the Capricorn Full Moon, although it was necessary medicine that called for us to face reality, step up to the plate as proper adults and take responsibility for ourselves, while recognising what we really long for. This Moon has a lighter, more playful quality that can help to create the life we envision and yearn for.

A Leo New Moon invites us to follow our hearts and do what brings us our greatest joy. Leo is the part of us that likes to sing and dance and create, and to do whatever we feel most inspired to do. Leo reminds us that we are the director of our own play, and to have fun creating the life we truly want. We are encouraged to shine our lights brightly and unapologetically, and to not be afraid to be seen. This Moon calls for us to invite more joy and fun into our lives and to make that the focus rather than focusing on what is lacking in our lives. What do we want to create for ourselves, in an ideal world? What truly lights us up and sparks joy? How can we take the lead, rather than being a passive bystander in our own play of life?

We have Saturn, Uranus and Neptune all supporting this Moon, and Pluto directly opposing it, which is incredibly powerful and potent! Pluto calls for us to dig deep within and to be really honest with ourselves about how we feel, what we want and what needs to change in order for us to find our joy and shine our light fully. Pluto adds a purging, detoxing quality to this Moon, calling for us to release relationships, dynamics, patterns or situations that are no longer helpful or healthy for us. Pluto can help us to clear out whatever needs to be released in order for us to step up to the next level of growth. It strips away self-deceit and invites us to confront what scares us most and take our power back, reclaiming our right to take the leading role in our lives.

Those of us with personal planets and angles between 0° and 3° will be feeling the impact of all this potent planetary energy the most acutely, as the Sun, Moon and these four powerful planets are currently all in the first couple of degrees of their sign. Those of us with planets and angles in the first couple of degrees of the air and fire signs could feel inspired, energised, uplifted and impassioned, while those of us with planets and angles in the first couple of degrees of the earth and water signs could be finding life a bit more challenging, although ultimately it all leads to growth! Of course, some of us may have some planets in Air and Fire and some in Earth and Water, which means that we are experiencing a mixed bag of discomfort and soul growth challenges combined with excitement and a sense that things are shifting in a positive way.

The Saturn Neptune conjunction that has been a powerful presence in recent times is forming a supportive trine aspect to the Sun and Moon. While this conjunction has been bringing up some fear, overwhelm and a hard dose of reality over illusion in recent times, we can only hope that this Moon will bring out its more helpful and positive qualities. Combined with the passionate creativity of this Leo Moon, it could help us to contemplate how we can turn our yearnings and longings into some kind of tangible form and bring in all that we truly want for ourselves. The energy of this Saturn Neptune conjunction is very strong right now, and while we could be severely tempted to escape reality and go into denial and self-delusion around what we know to be true, we are called to face up to whatever we are trying to avoid or deny and to take full responsibility for what we find. There is no escape!

The Capricorn Full Moon could have made us very aware of our dreams, longings and yearnings and how they compare with the reality of our situation. This Moon invites us to express these longings and to connect with them in a playful, creative way, imagining them becoming reality. If we are completely clear about what our hearts truly desire then we have the power to call it in, even if it doesn’t necessarily come to us in the way we might expect. Miracles can happen, and all that has led to this New Moon, including any discomfort, yearning, anxiety, fear and overwhelm, has helped us to really understand what our heart truly longs for. Saturn helps us to lay the foundation, set realistic goals and commit to our vision, while Neptune brings the faith, flow, connection to spirit and sense of divine timing. They are both in Aries, helping us to have the courage to start anew and make things happen.

Uranus in Gemini is also involved in this picture, having recently moved into Gemini. It is forming a helpful sextile aspect to the Sun, Moon, Saturn and Neptune, and a supportive trine to Pluto. This can help bring the clarity and insight needed to recognise what needs to shift and change in order for us to find true fulfilment. And it might be that a change in attitude or perspective is what is needed. Gemini is a changeable, restless sign that doesn’t like things to stay the same, while Uranus is the planet of sudden change, and when we combine the two, we could find ourselves craving anything new and different and wanting to break up old, tired routines. Uranus in Gemini can also bring shocking news, wake up calls, profound moments of clarity and conversations that come out of the blue and dramatically shift our perspective.

With Uranus, the Great Awakener and harbinger of change, forming a supportive air trine with Pluto, the planet of soul power and transformation, this could be a time of face paced evolution, rapid progress and soul growth. This trine will be building in strength over August until it is almost exact on 18 September. This is the beginning of a process that will continue next year. Combined with this Leo New Moon, we could experience breakthroughs and realisations that can bring about creative change and revolution, sudden shifts in consciousness and profound transformation, both personally and collectively. We could feel such a strong urge to make big changes in our own lives, shifting out of stasis and breathing in new life and energy. It is also quite possible that we will see very fast technological “progress” globally, some of which will be helpful and some of which could take us to places we would rather not go!

During this New Moon we also have the cosmic lovers, Venus and Mars, squaring off against each other, exact 23 July, while also activating the Nodes of the Moon. This very much brings relationships into focus, in quite a fated way, which could have a big impact on our destiny and soul growth. And soul growth isn’t necessarily easy! We could be forced to be brave and take concrete action in our relationships, even though part of us would like to turn the other cheek and simply let things be! However, we could be called to consider what needs to change in our relationships for us to reclaim our creative power and joy. We could find ourselves having important conversations or making big decisions that make a significant difference to our relationships and sense of worth. Tensions could arise in our relationships, especially for those of us with personal planets or angles around 21° of a sign. Mars in Virgo can help us to discern what is good for us and come up with solutions but could also make us less tolerant of the shortcomings of our loved ones and more prone to nit-picking and overanalysing.

It is important to be mindful of how we communicate during this Moon, especially with Mercury currently being retrograde. It could be a good idea to thoroughly think through any possible implications, consequences and ramifications before voicing anything we might be thinking or feeling. While Mars and the South Node in Virgo might want everything in our relationships to be “just so”, and tick all the boxes, the Pisces North Node reminds us that life is not actually that neat and tidy and helps us to find greater compassion for the complexities of human nature, and more faith and acceptance and understanding of the way things are rather than how we think they should be. Rather than overthinking and overanalysing, we are invited to allow everything to simply unfold naturally and fall into place, without forcing matters or trying to control outcomes, as there is probably some kind of divine plan playing out that is way beyond our comprehension!

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 3° Leo, is rather fun: “A middle-aged woman, her long hair flowing over her shoulders and in a bra-less youthful garment”, which Dabe Rudyar describes as “The will to meet the challenge of age in terms of our modern society’s glorification of youth. While the original reading of the symbol over fifty years ago spoke of the mature woman having dared to bob her hair, today a similar kind of rebellion against aging and the customs of late middle age would manifest itself in different ways. The meaning of the symbol can be extended to any desire an individual woman would have to claim her right to experiences of youth which may have been denied to her, especially when according to the fashion of the day such experiences are considered highly valuable. This symbol implies a reorientation of one’s ideal of action in relation to the collective mentality of the social environment; more particularly, a refusal by the individualised consciousness to be bound by biological or social standards. The Keyword: INDEPENDENCE.”

This could be a good time to let our hair down! This does feel like an energising Moon that is calling for us to become clearer about what we truly want for ourselves and to focus on bringing more joy into our lives. It would seem that our relationships might be in the spotlight, calling for us to make some tweaks and adjustments and to let go of anything that is not aligned with our growth. Pluto’s presence in this Moon certainly adds some depth, bringing the potential for some soul searching and purging to occur that enable us to release anything that is no longer serving our highest good. We could have a lot of creative ideas, realisations, insights and epiphanies during this Moon that can help us to listen to our heart’s longings and step forward on the path towards joy. This Leo Moon invites us to embrace life, express ourselves and shine our light fully!

CANCER NEW MOON - 25 June 2025

Exact at 11.31am UK time (BST)

This New Moon feels like a very potent one energetically, as it is activating many planets! We have an opportunity to let go of old emotional patterns that are no longer serving us, so that we can move forward with a lighter step. Cancer represents our inner emotional landscape, being the sign of family, ancestral roots, childhood emotional patterns, belonging, home, nurturing and emotional security. A Cancer New Moon invites us to really get in touch with our emotions rather than pushing them away, avoiding or suppressing them, allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and open rather than guarding ourselves, squashing our feelings or holding it all in. Our emotions have messages for us, if only we are willing to listen.

Cancer is the sign that helps us to feel the feelings and release them. These are challenging times for many of us, on many different levels, and we all have our learned coping mechanisms, some of which are not particularly helpful. A Cancer New Moon reminds us that sometimes the best thing we can do it let the emotions out, because then they don’t get stuck and wreak havoc on our physical and mental state. We tend to process emotions in the solar plexus, so digestion issues and stomach upsets can occur when we are struggling to properly process our emotions. A Cancer New Moon could encourage us to let it all out and have a good cry, which can be so cleansing as it releases any pent-up emotions and tension we might be feeling by trying to “hold it all together”.

Cancer represents our inner child, and while we may now be adults, it is still very important to tend to this inner child, giving it nurturing and love and listening to its needs. Sometimes it gets activated, as someone does or says something that really hurts because it triggers our childhood wounds, and it is hard not to react in a childlike or irrational manner. Ultimately this is a gift, however, as it helps make the unconscious more conscious, so that we can see what isn’t quite healed. Ideally, we would be able to respond in a more “adult” manner but can be difficult when it cuts really deep. These “activations” can be helpful, however, because they help us to understand ourselves better and to navigate our adult relationships more consciously and mindfully.

There are many planets activating this New Moon. We have Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto all forming a variety of different aspects, the strongest being Jupiter, which is sitting right on top on the Sun and Moon in Cancer. Jupiter is very happy in Cancer and can help bring great benefit from drawing on ancestral wisdom and from connecting with our emotions as a source of guidance, understanding and wisdom. It can also magnify and exaggerate our emotions, which could be helpful as it helps us to pinpoint old childhood patterns that need to be released. This could be a good time to connect to our ancestors, both past and present, and seek the advice of our elders who have walked this path before us. Some traits, struggles and tendencies have been passed down through the family line, so understanding these patterns can help us to navigate our own emotional journey.

Saturn and Neptune are also forming a dynamic, challenging square aspect to the Sun and Moon. This could make things feel somewhat heavy and overwhelming, as we could feel more sensitive, anxious, fearful, unsure, tired, tense and even hopeless. Thank goodness for Jupiter, with its optimistic and hopeful outlook! Saturn and Neptune in Aries could bring feelings of futility, angst, loss of meaning and aloneness, and we could struggle between what we dream of and yearn for and what is realistically possible. We could feel fears that are quite nebulous and hard to pinpoint. And while some of these fears may be ours, some we may be picking up on from the collective.

However, the gift is profound if we are willing to sit with our emotions rather than try to escape them. While we could be feeling a bit uncomfortable, we do have a chance to lay some old, unhelpful emotional patterns to rest. Some kind of new, unfamiliar version of ourselves is waiting to be born, so we are called to let go of any resistance and allow it to happen. It may be hard to see the path ahead right now, as it is certainly unknown territory, which can feel quite scary. However, we are called to be brave and really tap into deep trust that ultimately we are safe, protected and guided, even if things feel unclear, uncertain and unknown. Those of us with personal planets and angles around 1/2° of a sign, especially the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, will be feeling this energy most acutely. It is important to let the feelings come out, rather than bottling them up.

Pluto is also a very important part of this New Moon, as it is forming aspects to most of the planets at the moment, and is also at the apex of a Yod, or Finger of God formation, involving Virgo Mars and the Cancer Sun, Moon and Jupiter. Pluto in Aquarius is calling for deep change, progression and transformation, and invites us to throw off the shackles of the past and let go of old, unhelpful conditioning as we step into this New World that is currently forming. The Cancer part of us may find this somewhat scary, as we cling to old, familiar versions of ourselves that have outgrown their usefulness. There could be a sense that some new, freer, more authentic version of ourselves is trying to come into existence, but we might resist it as it is so unfamiliar and unknown.

Both personally and collectively, combined with the Saturn Neptune conjunction, we could feel like we are in a rather strange place, waiting to see where we are heading, which could bring a considerable amount of fear and trepidation around what might come next. On a deep level we might know that change is both necessary and inevitable, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t uncomfortable. That’s where Mars comes in, helping us to find the courage and will to recognise what aspects of ourselves and what emotional patterns simply need to go so that we can move into the next phase. It seems that the best thing we can do is relax and allow the change to occur, but that can be easier said than done, as the Cancer part of us prefers to cling to the safe, familiar, secure and known.

It could feel easier to detach and not feel the feelings, Aquarius style, or suppress our emotions, Saturn style, or find some way of escaping and burying our head in the sand, Neptune style, but all that does is bring anxiety, discomfort and weird physical symptoms! The Cancer Moon does seem to call for us to bring our emotions out into the open, while Pluto invites us to be emotionally honest about what patterns, habits, attachments and conditioning need to be stripped away in order for us to evolve and grow.

The Pisces North Node is calling for us to surrender, let go, accept and allow ourselves to be carried along with the tides of change, with full faith and trust that we are being guided toward something much better than we have known before. The more faith, grace and gratitude we can cultivate within us, the easier the path will be. Fear restricts, constricts and contracts, while faith expands and opens us up to opportunities that we might miss in a more contracted state.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 5° Cancer is rather strange and not very comfortable either! “At a railroad crossing, an automobile is wrecked by a train”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The tragic result that is likely to occur when the individual’s will pits itself carelessly against the power of the collective will of society. The automobile symbolises the individualised consciousness eager to pursue its own course of action regardless of how it may conflict with the collective consciousness of the community (the train). The symbol implies that all individual and relatively anarchistic or law-defying attempts are bound to fail. The driver may live, but his car will be wrecked. Lest we consider this phase totally negative, we should realise that most of the time man learns his lessons through relatively destructive experiences – the via negative of the mystic, or even the strange occult concept expounded in some sects of “salvation through sin.” One may speak here more generally of KARMIC READJUSTMENT.”

It is interesting – if the train represents the collective, then we are being reminded here that to get in the way of progressive collective change could not only be futile, but could also go against us. The train can’t change direction or veer off the path, as it is on a set of tracks. If we put ourselves in its path or pit our will against this collective momentum, then it may not go so well for us! Pluto in Aquarius at the apex of this Finger of God is definitely pointing towards progressive collective change and revolution, and while it may be bringing up a considerable amount of discomfort, we are being called to surrender and release whatever needs to pass away so that something new can rise up in its place.

This Cancer Moon invites us to feel and properly digest all the feelings instead of stuffing them down or avoiding them, as they can ultimately show us the way forward. Cancer represents our emotional intelligence, and our emotions hold so much wisdom and the potential to guide us, if we are willing to listen and not ignore them. What needs to be released so we can move forward? What part of us do we need to leave behind in the dark of the Moon so that we can be reborn?

GEMINI NEW MOON - 27 May 2025

Exact at 4.02am, UK time (BST)

This New Moon involves a huge amount of Air and Fire and not much Water or Earth at all! We could feel quite energised, enthusiastic and sociable, although it does help to have some earth to keep us grounded and in the real world! We are now in Gemini season, when the pace tends to pick up somewhat and we could find ourselves more mentally stimulated, communicative and engaged in life. And this New Moon involves the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter all in this lively, curious, adaptable sign, which brings a lot of Gemini! A Gemini New Moon calls for us to share ideas and perspectives with one another, to keep an open mind, to open ourselves up to new experiences and to ask questions of ourselves and others.

Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and is sitting right next to the Sun and Moon in Gemini, so we could find that we have very active minds during this New Moon, and a desire to share our thoughts with others. It is always important to be aware of how our thoughts can shape our reality, and to be mindful of our thought processes, because New Moons are a powerful time for manifestation. The conversations we have and the thoughts that race through our minds could give us clues as to what we seek and what we need to leave behind in the dark of the Moon. It could be a very chatty Moon, although it is important to watch out for gossiping, slips of the tongue, over-rationalising and skimming over the surface of things. We do have the potential to learn a lot, however, if we are open and willing. Indeed, we can learn a lot simply from watching our own thoughts!

Pluto is lending a helping hand, forming a supportive trine aspect to the Sun, Moon and Mercury. This can help us to gain psychological awareness around how we think and speak, and to transform the way we perceive things. It can also help us to better understand ourselves and others. Pluto adds some depth to this Gemini Moon, as it helps us to look beneath the surface and is not afraid to see the truth, even if it is uncomfortable. This is not the Moon for frivolous or superficial chatter! We could have some intense and penetrating conversations that could have a profound effect on us and we might also seek answers to some rather deep questions. Pluto calls for some brave, naked, honest self-enquiry, and can also reveal information of a quite exposing or revealing nature.

Mercury is also being helped out by Saturn and Neptune, both of which have recently moved into bold, brave, independent Aries. Saturn can help us to think in realistic terms and can also help us to carefully consider what we think and say. Neptune helps us to use our imaginations and can also soften the way we talk to ourselves and others, as it brings some sensitive, compassionate and empathetic energy to the picture. Mercury is certainly being highlighted during this Moon, so it is important to be aware of what we are thinking, hearing, learning and saying! Those of us with personal planets or angles around 2° of a sign will feel the thought provoking, communicative energy of Mercury the most acutely, especially in the air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) or the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces).

Saturn will literally just have moved from Pisces, which is the last sign of the zodiac, into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, on Sunday 25 May. Saturn is the Lord of Karma, reminding us that we reap what we sow in life, In the last few days of Saturn in Pisces, we could experience endings of some kind, or a tying up of loose ends, and could be called to let go and release people, situations, relationships, attitudes and behaviours that no longer serve us. Karmic contracts could end, and we could be called to resolve any unfinished lessons that we have been avoiding or procrastinating over. We could find ourselves having to truly look at any illusions, ideals or fantasies that are hindering us, so that we can see things as they really are rather than how we would like them to be. The veil of illusion could be pulled from our eyes, once and for all, whether we like it or not!

There can be quite a significant shift of energy when a heavyweight like Saturn moves from sensitive Pisces into brave and forthright Aries, as they are such different energies. What needs to end so a new cycle can begin? Letting go can be challenging, as can facing up to the reality of a situation and seeing something for what it truly is! And what might happen when Saturn goes into Aries? Saturn is a controlling, restricting, maturing, disciplining energy, while Aries is our impulsive nature, our instinctual will, our energy levels, our courage, our sense of identity. This could be a good combo for setting goals and slowly but surely working towards them, and it could help us to create strong boundaries and assert ourselves in healthy ways. We could be called to be truly accountable for ourselves and our actions and could be tested in this area. Saturn is the master teacher, after all!

Aries enthusiasm, energy and impulse could be curbed somewhat, or we could be called to channel it into something useful and constructive. Saturn in Aries can certainly help with self-discipline, although it is important to be aware that our courage and drive could be tested. I am reminded of a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “Do one thing every day that scares you”. This could be a good use of Saturn’s discipline and Aries’ courage, to be aware of how fear holds us back from doing the things we want, and how easy it is to stay within our comfort zone rather than taking a risk on life. It could be good to be aware of the last time we did something that scared us, and to contemplate how we might push ourselves out of our comfortable place and stretch our courage muscle a bit! This is how we grow.

Speaking of courage, Venus is currently in brave, direct, forthright Aries and is forming a lovely, supportive trine to Mars in creative, expressive, dramatic Leo, which was exact on 22 May but is still very strong during this Moon. The cosmic lovers are both in passionate, energetic, enthusiastic fire signs and are playing nicely with each other, which could be great for our relationships and our self-worth. We could be braver about asking for what we want in relationship and better able to be honest about our needs, passions and desires. This could be a good time for taking risks we might usually shy away from, and for being open, honest and direct with one another. Those of us with personal planets or angles between 18° and 20° of a sign will benefit most from the passionate, spirited, spontaneous energy of this combo, especially the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Venus is about to join up with Chiron the Wounded Healer, exact on 1 June, which could be an opportunity for healing wounds around self-worth, relationships and our sense of self. The Aries energy can help us to work on being more direct, open and honest about our needs, which could be very healing and cathartic. Old wounds around rejection, or not being “enough”, or feeling unloved or unwanted could rise up to be healed. We could find it easier to bring any issues, insecurities and sensitivities our into the open to be aired and dealt with. This combination could help us to confront anything that might be blocking us from having healthy relationships, although we might need to be a bit brave to bring it all out into the open!

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 7° Gemini, is curious: “A well with bucket and rope under the shade of majestic trees”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “Man’s primordial faith in the hidden sustaining power of life. In contrast with the ambitious drive of modern man for power and wealth we now have the image of the eternal search for that which is at the root of all living processes, i.e. water. This search also demands some effort - raising the water-filled bucket – but it is a simple natural effort under the shade of trees which attest to the presence of the life-giving fluid. This presence depends on the cooperation of sky (rain) and earth (the geological formation able to hold the water), and man must develop the intuitive sense which enables him to feel this presence and to make it effectual in his daily life. He must sense the hidden reality which preserves for the use of all living organisms this gift of the “sky,” the bounteous rain. With this symbol, the power of the collective and bio-spiritual energies which sustain all earth-rooted cultures is stressed, in contrast to whatever the technological mind of man can make available to increase his personal comfort and mastery over matter. The symbol implies A FUNDAMENTAL TRUST IN AND COOPERATION WITH LIFE.”

This symbol brings a sense that we are always able to tap into and draw from the well as a source of nourishment, wisdom or knowledge. Pluto’s involvement in this Moon certainly invites us to dig deep beneath the surface, for that is where we will find the answers we seek. It could be that we receive messages, insights or new perspectives that are helpful, or we could find ourselves saying things that we have been avoiding expressing. This Moon invites us to observe our inner dialogue and be alert to the messages we send ourselves that are simply not helpful. This is a good time to talk things through with others and to see what they think, as we could gain more understanding of ourselves and life itself. Gemini asks that we be willing to have our mind changed, that we remain curious and open to other people’s points of view. In the words of George Bernard Shaw, “Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

TAURUS NEW MOON - 27 April 2025

Exact at 8.31pm UK time (BST)

Well, considering that Taurus is such a peaceful, grounded sign that likes the simple life, this New Moon has some powerful planetary energy swirling around it! Pluto and Mars are very much involved in the picture, which isn’t exactly a recipe for peace and tranquillity! The Taurus New Moon invites us to plant seeds and set intentions, contemplating what we truly need to feel safe and secure. It reminds us of what we value in life, what truly holds meaning for us when it comes down to it. This earthy, loyal, stable sign also calls for us to value ourselves and to work on building a solid sense of self-worth, self-reliance, self-confidence and self-sufficiency. Taurus is the part of us that likes to feel safe, secure and supported, and this New Moon can help us to contemplate what we need to feel solid, rooted and stable.

Venus, the ruling planet of Taurus, is a very big player in the week building up to this New Moon. Venus is coming to the end of its stay in Pisces, getting ready to move into Aries on Wednesday 30 April. However, before she does so, she joins Saturn and the North Node in Pisces. When Venus meets sober, realistic and responsible Saturn, we are called to see our relationships and financial situation as they really are, rather than how we would like them to be. This could be a tough pill to swallow, however! There is the potential for fear and anxiety to come up around relationships and survival. This could be a time of reckoning for our relationships, and while some could become stronger and more solid, some may not pass the test. Saturn can teach us some hard lessons, and while the medicine might ultimately be good for us, it doesn’t mean it tastes good!

Saturn helps us to let go of any illusions, ideals, fantasies and projections that might be preventing us from seeing our relationships clearly. It can also help us to put in the work necessary to create something solid, tangible, real and enduring – something that can withstand the test of time. It may not be a fairytale, but all successful relationships require work on both sides, as well as a sense of personal responsibility, accountability, commitment and the willingness to turn up and “lean in” when the going gets tough. Saturn won’t let us bury our head in the sand – it calls for us to face whatever comes up and be willing to work through it with maturity and integrity.

During this time, we could be called to look at our relationships through a realistic lens, piercing through the veil of illusion, and decide how best to move forward. Saturn helps us to lay down solid foundations and create something that might actually work in the long term. Those of us with personal planets and angles around 27° of a sign will feel the sobering energy of this conjunction the most acutely, especially the mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

It is interesting that Saturn and Venus are also sitting on top of the Pisces North Node, as this brings a sense of fate and destiny to the picture. The North Node shows where our personal and collective soul growth lies, and at the moment it is in Pisces, calling for us to listen to our heart, follow our inner guidance and go where we are led, even if it doesn’t make much logical sense. Pisces calls for us to let go, surrender and go with the flow, and while Saturn can bring up fear and a desire to control outcomes, the North Node reminds us that ultimately, we are not in control. We are invited to let go of whatever needs to pass away, recognising the signs and omens, following the whisper of our heart, and allowing space for whatever is meant to come next.

As I mentioned before, Mars and Pluto are a very big part of this week, as they are opposing each other and squaring the Sun and Moon! Pluto is the planet of soul, transformation, power and our subconscious desires, while Mars is the planet of our conscious desires, our capacity for anger, our drive, our motivation and energy levels. When Mars and Pluto oppose each other, we could find ourselves acting compulsively, from a subconscious place, so it is important to be mindful and self-aware this week. We could find that we are more easily triggered and so it is important to be aware when we are acting or reacting from a place of injured or fragile ego. Anger could come up from a place deep within us, and it is our choice whether we allow it to be destructive or constructive.

With the Taurus Sun and Moon also being activated by this opposition, and Saturn sitting next to Venus, we could experience fear coming up around survival. Taurus is the part of us that likes to feel safe, and likes material security, while Pluto in Aquarius is all about transformation, change, evolution and tearing down the old world to build a new one. This can be very unsettling and scary for the Taurus part of us that prefers things to stay the same, even if we know they are no longer healthy or good for us. We could feel considerable tension between our human need for comfort and stability and our soul’s need to grow and evolve. We may be forced to confront ourselves any recognise and attachments that are no longer healthy for us.

Pluto forces us to confront what we might usually prefer to ignore and deny, so this could be a rather uncomfortable week! We could feel more exposed, threatened and easily triggered, especially those of us with personal planets or angles around 3° of a sign. The fixed signs will probably feel it more acutely, while the air and fire signs could feel quite energised, courageous and better able to overcome obstacles and fears. This certainly is a good time to confront ourselves and move past our limitations! We could gain a considerable amount of psychological insight into ourselves and others this week, as a lot could come up to look at and process. The Pluto Mars opposition is exact the same day as the New Moon, and is building all week.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 8° Taurus, is an interesting one: “* A sleigh on land uncovered by snow”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The value of anticipating and preparing for expectable conditions. Here we have a combination of two factors: “the sleigh,” which is a product of traditional skill, and the ability man has to foresee and thus to prepare for a future situation. Man should be ready to use past knowledge and skill to meet the demands of a stage yet to come. This symbol helps us to realise the value of FUTURE-ORIENTED IMAGINATION, but also of relying upon the natural order of unfoldment of all life processes.”

It is interesting how this Moon seems to be both bringing up fear and a need to face reality, while also giving us the courage, drive and motivation to confront whatever comes up and move past our fears and limitations! It doesn’t feel like a particularly comfortable mix of planetary energy, but it could be extremely valuable, as it has the capacity to prod us in the direction of soul growth and evolution. We may need to really look at things as they really are in order to know what needs to change. Sometimes we need a bit of a cosmic kick up the bum to move out of stasis and make the necessary change! Sometimes we need to be challenged and prodded to look in the mirror and see that which we might deny or hide from.

Ultimately this Taurus Moon is calling for us to develop a sense of inner security and trust in self that means that whatever happens on the external level, we still feel safe, stable, held and supported, and have everything that we need. Ultimately this is an inside job. The Pisces North Node is on our side here, helping us to develop true acceptance of self and faith and trust in the way things are unfolding, even when the way ahead is not clear. Saturn calls for us to take responsibility for ourselves and our choices, while also trusting that we are being guided in the right direction. We are not helpless victims of circumstance, we are mature adults developing a more tangible relationship with universal energy and allowing it to guide us to exactly where we need to be, even if we have no idea where that is, and even if it makes no sense! Faith and Trust!

Much Love

To say that this Moon is powerful would be a massive understatement! Indeed, this whole Eclipse season is particularly potent, because not only have we had the Spring Equinox in the middle of the two Eclipses, but we also have Neptune in the very last degree of the entire zodiac, getting ready to move into Aries the day after this Eclipse. This could bring a significant energetic shift. While one chapter is ending, it may not be exactly clear yet what awaits us on the other side, so we are being called to have faith and trust in the unseen and the unknown. This New Moon/Eclipse is an interesting mix of Aries and Pisces, which are two very different energies. The ending and the beginning. A sense of culmination and completion which opens the door for new growth and a fresh start.

Aries is a bold, brave, independent and pioneering sign that isn’t afraid to try something new and take the path less travelled. It is a direct, forthright, honest, open and very enthusiastic energy that represents the initial spark that ignites the fire. It is the shoot that forces its way out of the ground after a long hard winter, eagerly seeking the light. Aries invites us to be honest about who we are, what we want and where we want to go. It calls for us to trust our instincts and act on our impulses. Aries tends to act first and think later! There is an innocence and naivety to this sign that we are being called to emulate, as we are invited to see the world with fresh eyes, an open heart and a beginner’s mind. What is waiting to be born right now? Who are we becoming? What is our hearts’ true desire?

We also have Mercury Retrograde in Aries, getting ready to move back into Pisces on Sunday. In fact, Mercury joins Neptune in Pisces literally just a few hours before Neptune moves into Aries, and it is so interesting that the planet of the mind and communication is spending the last few hours with the planet of spirit, oneness and unity before it makes its transition. It feels very significant somehow, and could bring spiritual revelations, heightened intuition and compassionate and understanding conversations, both with ourselves and others. It could also mean that our imaginations run away with us, and we could find that we are confused and struggle to make ourselves clear. During the actual New Moon, however, Mercury remains in forthright Aries, calling for us to be open, honest and direct with ourselves and each other. It can also mean that we have to contend with some angry thoughts and communications.

With both Mercury and Venus retrograde at the moment, and travelling alongside each other on the way, we could find ourselves being transported back in time, revisiting old versions of ourselves in order to gain more insight and understanding of our current situation. People and relationships from the past could also re-enter our orbit, whether by them literally popping up or simply through memories resurfacing for us to confront and process. It all has something to teach us, helping us to understand ourselves and hopefully find some resolution and healing. We are also invited to reflect, review and revisit any issues within our relationships that might be holding us back, letting go of any patterns that are no longer serving us or the relationship. Some relationships may have to be left behind, some may find themselves in a weird state of limbo.

This is all happening with the backdrop of the North Node in Pisces and Neptune in such a prominent position, helping us to release any guilt, shame, regret, resentment or remorse and find true acceptance, forgiveness, love and compassion towards others and, most importantly, towards ourselves. It is time to let it all go so that we can start fresh, aligning with our true self. An old karmic cycle is ending, and it is an ideal opportunity to let go of old entanglements and patterns, surrendering to whatever is coming next, even if what lies ahead is not yet clear. We are called to trust the unseen and the unknown, paying attention to the signs, omens and synchronicities that can show us the way forward. This New Moon can bring about a profound reset and rebirth, so it is important to do the inner work and let go of any patterns, attitudes, memories and ways of being that simply no longer serve us. This particular opportunity won’t come our way again.

Venus moves backwards from Aries into Pisces on Thursday 27 March, joining Neptune in the final degree of Pisces. It is quite a shift of energy, the planet of love and relating moving from direct, assertive, decisive, independent Aries back into sensitive, compassionate, kind and empathetic Pisces. Venus in Aries can be a bit of a loner and could bring out the more impulsive, honest and self-serving side of our nature, even bringing knee-jerk reactions in the realm of relationships. As I mentioned, Aries acts first and thinks later! However, it also helps us to express our needs in an unapologetic manner. This energy can bring up frustration and even anger around matters of the heart.

Venus joining Neptune in Pisces is much more gentle, reflective, receptive and idealistic, helping us to see the best in each other and find true forgiveness, understanding and compassion, melting our hearts. It could be a magical, romantic and serendipitous time for our relationships, as Neptune has a unifying quality and can help to dissolve anger, fear, ego and any barriers that we erect to protect ourselves and keep us feeling separate from one another. This combination will still be very strong during the New Moon, helping us to truly connect with one another and to allow our egos to take a back seat. As this is all occurring in the final degree of Pisces, we could also be called to let go somehow, in the spirit of love and acceptance. Indeed, true love just is – it doesn’t come with conditions and can see beyond our human flaws and frailty.

The ruler of this Aries Moon is Mars, currently in sensitive, emotional Cancer. All week long we have had the final Chiron Mars square, exact on Wednesday 26 March, which holds the potential for activating old wounds and childhood emotional patterns and triggering us somewhat! This is a profound opportunity for healing whatever comes up during this time, and it could help to be aware that our hurt inner child could be activated, making us a bit more reactive, over-sensitive, protective and defensive than we might usually be. It is all a gift, however, as it can show us what still needs healing. Saturn is also forming a supportive trine to Mars, helping us to act on our dreams and ideals and to come up with some kind of long term, concrete plan for ourselves and steadily work towards it. Saturn also brings the gift of accountability, calling for us to take full responsibility for our actions.

The Sabian symbol for this New Moon, at 10° Aries, is a strong one, and resonates with the feeling that this is the beginning of a new cycle: “A teacher gives new symbolic forms to traditional images” which Dane Rudyar describes as “Revision of attitude at the beginning of a new cycle of experience. Here a new dimension of consciousness is discovered, revealing higher possibilities of experience and mental development. This is a phase of ABSTRACTION and of emotional allegiance.”

Wow. Let it be so. Neptune moves into Aries the day after this New Moon, symbolising a new phase of our spiritual development. In the meantime, we could be feeling more sensitive, connected and spiritually open, which could also bring confusion, overwhelm, grief, anxiety and susceptibility to feeling anything going on in the collective, including fear. It is very important to be kind to ourselves during this time, as a lot could come up for us to process in order to step into this next phase. This is a time of dissolution, completion and culmination, calling for us to be brave and accept, surrender, allow and let go of whatever needs to be released right now, opening ourselves up for whatever is waiting to come in. Faith and trust! All will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Much Love

PISCES NEW MOON - 28 February 2025

Exact at 00.44 UK time (GMT)

This is a time of spiritual renewal, when we are encouraged to turn inward and seek the answers from within. New Moons represent the end of the monthly cycle and the beginning of a new cycle, so we are encouraged to release what is no longer serving us and focus on what we want to bring in. There is a huge amount of Pisces energy around for this Moon, calling for us to surrender, let go, allow and accept all that is for our highest good. This is the perfect Moon for meditation, prayer, healing, dancing, singing – anything that can help us to connect to Spirit and experience a unifying feeling of oneness and acceptance.

We currently have the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Ceres and the North Node all travelling through sensitive, compassionate, intuitive Pisces, which means that its energy is extremely prevalent during this Moon! We have the North Node in Pisces for 18 months, which is very significant for our soul growth, both personally and collectively. We are being called to let go of the need to control outcomes, practicing the art of letting go and allowing spirit to guide us. It is time to truly know what it feels like to go with the flow, following the path of least resistance. Pisces encourages us to tune into our inner guidance system and to recognise the subtle cues, messages, omens and signs that can show the way.

Pisces also calls for us to find more compassion for ourselves and others, releasing any tendency to be hard on ourselves, or to criticise ourselves or others. We truly can be our own worst enemy at times! Pisces can teach us the art of acceptance, reminding us that we are perfect in our imperfection, and all beings of light having a human experience, doing the best we can with the tools we have been given. Things get messy sometimes, and that’s ok!

Pisces also reminds us that we are not alone. If we can tune in and connect, in whatever way works for us, we will know that we are loved, supported and guided by Spirit, the Divine, God, or whatever label we choose to describe that which cannot really be described! Similarly, a kind, compassionate, caring therapist, counsellor, spiritual teacher or guide can make us feel truly seen, understood, supported and accepted for all that we are. No judgement, just loving presence and acceptance can be so very healing.

Jupiter in Gemini is forming a challenging square to the Sun and Moon, which could bring about a test of faith. Jupiter represents our beliefs and shows what we put our faith in, so there could be a disconnect between what we sense inwardly and what we are being told, or what we believe to be possible. Pisces calls for us to connect directly with the unseen, the subtle realms, and to have faith and trust. Jupiter in Gemini, however, can put us too much in our heads, trying to make sense of things in a logical, rational way. Sometimes things quite simply don’t make sense!

We could find that our thoughts are scattered, with so many distractions, and our lives are so busy that it is hard to simply slow down, turn inward and connect. It could all be a bit mentally overwhelming! Possibly this is a reminder that ultimately we can’t find the answers from outside of us, but can only find them if we are able to still the mind, shut out the noise and find a way to tune into the quiet voice within.

Help is at hand, however! We have Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, joining up with Neptune in Pisces, and both sitting on top of the Pisces North Node, which can help us to get out of our head and into our heart. It is important to be open and aware of any messages we receive and the conversations we have during this Moon, as they could be important. Conversations could be quite kind, heartful, compassionate and could help us to truly connect with one another and get past the usual walls and defences. However, Neptune can also confuse matters, so it is important to make ourselves clear, or else muddled exchanges and misunderstandings could occur.

We could find our imagination greatly heightened and inspiration flowing, so this is a great time for creative writing, poetry or creating art and music, and could bring streams of consciousness. However, we could also find ourselves daydreaming and might find it hard to concentrate, and our minds could be a bit foggy! This feels like a good time to tap into our intuition rather than trying to make logical sense of everything! It can also help to pay attention to our dreams, as they could have important messages for us. Those of us with planets or angles around 27/28° of a sign will feel the sensitive, dreamy, imaginative and inspired energy of this configuration the most acutely, especially the mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

On Sunday 23 February, Mars started going direct again, after having been retrograde since 6 December. It is quite helpful to have the planet of action, energy, assertion and motivation moving forward! Mars is in Cancer, the sign of emotional security, childhood and ancestral patterns, so it is quite possible that some old resentments could have resurfaced during this time, or old childhood patterns and sensitivities could have been triggered along the way, especially during the time of the Mars/Chiron square, which was around 4 February. Mars is now slowly working its way back towards the last square with Chiron, exact on 27 March, which can hopefully help us to understand ourselves better, although we could be more reactive and easily triggered than usual!

Those of us with personal planets or angles around 20 - 22° of a sign, especially the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, will feel the energy of Chiron Mars square most acutely as it gains momentum. It is important to be as self-aware as possible during this time, and to recognise when our wounded inner child is being activated!

While Mars has started moving forward, Venus is going the opposite direction, getting ready to turn retrograde in Aries on Saturday 1 March. This gives us an opportunity for some inward reflection around our relationships, whereby we get to go back over old ground and look at what is working and what needs refining and revisiting for us to move forward in a healthy way. Some relationships may not pass the test, while others can greatly benefit from this review. Old relationships from the past could pop up, especially if there is unfinished business or unresolved emotions to work through. Aries invites us to reflect on whether our relationships are truly meeting our needs, and to find the courage to express what it is we do need.

Venus will be retrograde until 12 April, and during this time we are invited to examine any unhealthy or unhelpful patterns and dynamics in our relationships and actually do something about them. Issues that we may have turned a blind eye to in the past may need to be revisited and confronted. This is a time of self-reflection and examination of what truly matters to us. Aries encourages us to practice the art of self-love, and to be really honest about what we want and need from our close relationships.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon, at 10° Pisces, feels very poignant with this Mercury/Neptune energy around: “An aviator pursues his journey, flying through ground-obscuring clouds”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “Man’s ability to develop powers and skills, which by transcending natural limitations, allow him to operate in mental-spiritual realms. Man is seen mastering difficulties implied in a type of operation transcending his organic limitations and the narrow boundaries of a localised “living space.” He does so as an individual in command of powerful energies, but also as heir to the industry of countless innovators and managers. This is the last symbol of the sixty-eight five-fold sequence of evolving stages of consciousness and human activity. It evokes the achievement of MASTERY.”

This symbol does remind me of the Mercury/Neptune conjunction, and gives the sense of flying blind, or having our head in the clouds, or feeling somewhat ungrounded, but also shows that sometimes we must rely on something more than what is immediately visible to show us the way. This Moon calls for us to trust in the unseen and to have faith that we are being supported and guided along our path, even if it doesn’t seem to make logical sense. During this Moon, and while the North Node is in Pisces for the next year or so, we are invited to strengthen our relationship with our inner world and unseen helpers. Neptune is due to leave Pisces on 30 March, with Saturn not far behind it, so this is an ideal time to get serious about our spiritual path and to really understand what it means to let go and “go with the flow”. If we don’t fight against the current, it is amazing what can happen!

Much Love

AQUARIUS NEW MOON / YEAR OF THE WOOD SNAKE - 29 January 2025

Picture
Exact at 12.35pm UK time (GMT)

This is a very big New Moon indeed, as it has some very powerful planetary alignments, not to mention that it heralds the beginning of year of the Wood Snake. It could be a very important time to set some intentions for our hopes and dreams for our ideal life, not only for ourselves, but also for the collective. Aquarius is a humanitarian sign that likes to connect with other like minded souls to help make the world a better place to live. This Moon is a very powerful moment in time, with the potential to bring in profound transformation for us all. It is important to be mindful of our thoughts during this time, as they hold particular power to create our reality. It can help, between now and the New Moon, to clarify what we truly wish for ourselves, and to remember that Spirit can take us very literally. Watch what you ask for!

We have the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto all sitting in Aquarius for this Moon, bringing the potential for change, revolution, transformation and new perspective. We are invited to shed old skin and liberate ourselves from our conditioning and any outdated beliefs, attitudes, relationships, situations, goals, aspirations and concepts of ourselves that no longer serve the person that we are becoming. This is a powerful moment of personal and collective transformation, both in terms of our own lives and the antiquated societal structures that are in desperate need of an overhaul. Aquarius calls for us to embrace the new, thinking outside of the box and contemplating a way of being that might have seemed impossible before now, but why does it have to be?

Aquarius reminds us that it isn’t all about us and that we are all in it together. This New Moon invites us to not only contemplate our own vision for how life could ideally be, but also to contemplate how we can contribute to the greater whole. How do we relate to the group and community and are there ways we could become more involved? How can we connect more with like minded souls who have a similar vision for the way things could be? Are we surrounded by our tribe, those who truly understand where we are coming from? What needs to shift for us to be living our ideal life, and what does that look like? What needs to fall away for us to become a more authentic version of ourselves? What needs to change for us to be absolutely true to the person we truly are versus the person we have always been programmed to be? What rules need to be questioned, broken and released for us to feel free?

Pluto and Mercury and joining forces in Aquarius, exact the morning of the New Moon, which brings the potential for some profound revelations and shifts in the way we think and communicate. We could have some intense, revealing conversations around this time that bring penetrating insight, startling clarity and a change of perspective. Pluto has the power to uncover truths and secrets and calls for us to be brutally honest with ourselves and others even if it makes us feel vulnerable or exposed. Pluto isn’t afraid to peer into some dark corners and to sweep the debris and detritus out from under the proverbial carpet!

This could be a thought provoking, deeply introspective time that helps us to think outside the box and come up with new solutions to old problems. We could have some realisations that are not exactly comfortable, as we become aware of aspects of ourselves, others and life that are not easy to face. However, face them we must, because then we will reach a greater understanding and insight which could help us to grow and evolve. Pluto promises us gifts of buried treasure if we are brave enough to delve beneath the surface and see what lurks there! Those of us with personal planets or angles around 1° of a sign, especially the fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, will feel this energy most acutely.

A most beautiful, rare, extraordinary and powerful alignment of planetary energy is occurring around this New Moon, which feels quite magical! We have Venus, the planet of love and relating, Neptune the planet of oneness and unity, and the North Node, which represents our collective soul growth, all gathering together in sensitive, compassionate Pisces. The Nodes of the Moon, which represent the potential for personal and collective soul growth, have recently moved into Virgo and Pisces, which is the healing axis. We are invited to let go of any of the more challenging Virgo tendencies, such as being hard on ourselves, wanting everything to be perfect and in order, being overly purist, over-analysing, worry and anxiety and being overly critical of ourselves and others, and to work on embodying more of Pisces qualities.

The Pisces North Node calls us forward, encouraging us to simply be in the moment, surrendering to the flow of life and allowing things to simply be as they are, in all their imperfect beauty. With Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, sitting on top of the North Node (exact 7 February), we have the potential for dissolving ego and for finding true compassion and acceptance of all that we are and all that has happened, and finding true forgiveness in our hearts for ourselves and others. None of us are perfect but merely doing the best we can with the tools we have been given. This alignment can help us to connect to spirit with greater ease, and we are invited to trust the inner voice that guides us on our journey.

This is the absolute perfect time for any practices that help us to connect to the divine, such as meditation, yoga, tai chi, heartfelt prayer, healing work and any form of creativity, as we have the potential for greater connection, inspiration and for Spirit to flow through us. We are reminded that ultimately, we are not in control, so it is better to simply let go of the reins and stop trying to make everything perfect, as life can be much easier that way. With Venus and Neptune joining together (exact 1 Feb), we have such potential for heart to heart connection and for truly seeing one another’s inner beauty, without the usual walls or defences.

There is the potential, with the North Node involved, for much soul growth and aligning with our true nature and our spiritual mission. There is something very fateful about this alignment, as people could come into our lives that have deep spiritual significance, as well as a deepening of the bonds we already have. Of course, all this Pisces can have its drawbacks, as we could find ourselves much more sensitive, open, vulnerable and thin-skinned than usual, not to mention feeling a bit more overwhelmed, in helpless victim mode and potentially having the urge to escape reality! However, being more sensitive is not such a bad thing, as it increases our empathy and compassion for others. There is something very “softening” about this alignment, and bear in mind that we will already be feeling it now, although the energy will be getting stronger and peak early February.

Those of us with personal planets and angles around 27/28° of Pisces will feel the sensitive, spiritual, ego dissolving energy of this alignment the most strongly, especially in the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, as well as the other water signs of Cancer and Scorpio. If we can put our egos aside for this moment in time and relate to ourselves and each other from a softer, kinder, more forgiving place, with greater acceptance of any human flaws and idiosyncrasies, it could really help us to let go of our gripes and grievances and see each other as we really are, as beings of light and luminescent beauty. We are invited to simply be here now with each other, in the present moment, as ultimately that is all there is.

We do also have Chiron the Wounded healer forming a dynamic square aspect to Mars, exact 4 Feb, which balances out the energies somewhat! Hear we are called to address and heal any childhood wounds around anger, masculinity, sexuality, the physical body, asserting our will and the right to exist. We could find ourselves more easily triggered and might need to watch out for being more reactive, defensive and even aggressive, but this does bring potential for healing these parts of ourselves that are more sensitive and reactive. Luckily, we have the Pisces alignment to soften the whole thing! This could also help give us the courage to bring thorny topics out into the open that need to be addressed, which could also be healing.

Those of us with personal planets and angles around 19° of a sign will feel the energy of Mars and Chiron the most acutely, especially in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. This combination can also bring an upsurge of illness, surgery or physical injury, although this is by no means inevitable! It does, however, bring an opportunity to work on the way in which we deal with our anger. Do we lash out, or suppress it, or direct it inwards, or are we passive aggressive? This certainly could be a good time to work on and heal unresolved childhood wounds, as they could be closer to the surface than usual!

Jupiter, the planet of growth, faith and expansion that helps us to broaden our horizons, is supporting this Moon, which could bring a sense of optimism and hope to the picture! Jupiter is currently in Gemini, which could help us to share our visions, hopes and any ideas about what we can do to change our lives and help make the world a better place to live in. Aquarius is the rebel, the revolutionary, the humanitarian, and helps us to question the status quo. Jupiter could help us to express our thoughts and opinions, helping us to connect with others to contemplate potential answers for whatever we are currently facing, both personally and collectively. Indeed, we could find that there is an abundance of preachers on the pulpit, sharing various progressive perspectives, ideas and solutions.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon, at 10° Aquarius, is an interesting one, considering all this Neptunian Pisces energy, which does bring the potential for wearing the rose-tinted spectacles! : “A man who had for a time become the embodiment of a popular ideal is made to realise that as a person he is not this ideal” which Dane Rudyar goes on to say “The need to deal with human beings as persons, rather than as screens upon which one projects one’s dream and ideal. Here we have a statement on the relationship between mental-spiritual vision and living reality, between persons and the ideal they appear to incarnate. Between the “great lover Image” and one’s need for love – a love his presence stimulated and aroused. The “star” on the movie screen is not the actual person. The star’s popularity fades away, the person remains. What has this episode of popularity actually done to the person? This is a question that can be applied to a great variety of circumstances. This symbol brings to our attention an issue that is basic and may confront us in various forms. Person versus archetype. This can mean a critical need for SELF-REVALUATION.”

This is also the beginning of Year of the Wood Snake beginning, which has the potential to bring about deep inner transformation on a personal and collective level, helping us to shed skins, in the form of patterns, programming, beliefs and systems. The Snake is a mystical, sensitive, introspective, spiritual, wise, intuitive sign that tends to move deliberately and avoid unnecessary risks, so this is a good year for strategic long-term planning and small, deliberate, intentional steps that bring growth. It can help us to face any shadow material, explore the unconscious and work on our emotional intelligence. The Wood element brings growth, vitality, flexibility, strength, perseverance, expansion, new vision and helps us to reach upward to our higher purpose. This could be a year of emotional depth, inner transformation and renewal. Happy New Year!

Much Love

I love writing about the Moon and the effect it has on us all, both collectively and personally. We all look at the same Moon and feel her energy, albeit in different ways. It reminds us that we are not alone and there is something very comforting about that!
