GEMINI FULL MOON - 25 November 2015

This particular Full Moon could involve a certain degree of information overload which could be a bit overwhelming and confusing for us, as we struggle to see the wood for the trees. Full Moons are a very emotional time in the month when things come to a head and whatever has been bubbling away behind the scenes erupts into our consciousness, illuminated by the light of the Moon. Whatever started around the time of the New Moon now comes to fruition, demanding conscious realisation. This month, the New Moon in Scorpio was incredibly dark and disturbing on a collective level, as the lower side of the Scorpio experience was brought to the fore in the form of violence, betrayal, death and destruction. Since that fateful day on the 13th of November, when so much violence and destruction occurred on this planet of ours, we have been struggling to make sense of all that happened and have also been dealing with the aftermath in the general and also social media.

This is where the Gemini Full Moon comes in. Gemini rules the media, among other things, and has a tendency towards information overload! Over the past couple of weeks we have been bombarded with information, opinions and ideas relating to the events of the 13th and this Moon could bring it all to a head. Gemini is very restless, curious and talkative, so this Moon could be very busy and even frantic and it could be difficult to switch our minds off. Sitting directly opposite the Gemini Moon is the Sagittarius Sun and we are urged to find some balance between the energy of the two signs. Sagittarius is the world traveller, and asks us to look at the bigger picture and see things from a wider perspective. While Gemini involves taking in indiscriminate amounts of information from sources outside of ourselves, Sagittarius asks us to take a step back and go within in order to truly understand what we are being told. Within all of us there is a deep well of wisdom, an inner knowing, based on our own experiences and also on our intuition; our sixth sense. During this Moon we are asked to separate the wheat from the chafe; to take in the information we are being bombarded with and find the truth. This is not a time to be narrow minded.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 5° Gemini  is “A revolutionary magazine asking for action.” This is a very evocative symbol considering all that is happening at the moment! Dane Rudyar says that this symbol represents “the explosive tendency of repressed feelings and root emotions” and further says that “what is rigidly bound in form and convention tends to explode into formlessness”. This symbol shows how all that we are seeing in the media is making it glaringly obvious what needs to change and what reforms are needed in society and the world. It is a call for revolution and for people to speak out and have their say. The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 5° Sagittarius is “An old owl sits alone on the branch of a large tree.” There is much wisdom and peace in this image, and Dane Rudyar says this holds “the possibility of developing wisdom beyond tragedy, a peace and poise beyond conflict”. These two symbols sum up the energy of this Full Moon, because while one is very noisy, strong and active, the owl asks us to rise above it all and see beyond normal perception, beyond fear and the ego. It is important to be aware of the possibility of misinformation and to see past any propaganda, past what we are being told or shown, and connect with our hearts. All is not as it seems.

The Saturn Neptune square that has been slowly building over the last month or so is about to come to a peak and is very much a part of this Full Moon. Saturn is sitting right next to the Sun in Sagittarius, while Neptune is bearing down on both the Sun and the Moon, forming a T-square configuration. T-squares create tension and stress that lead to much needed change. Neptune is the planet of illusion and compounds the possibility of all not being as it would appear. We are being urged to fight through the Neptunian fog, past the smoke screens, and find the truth that resides in our hearts. All of the information we are taking in at this time could be very confusing and overwhelming and it may be very hard to separate truth from lies, fantasy from reality. Neptune is also forming a square to Mercury, the ruler of this Full Moon. As such, our minds could become a bit unclear and prone to deception. This combination can lead to faulty judgements and the tendency to lie to ourselves as well as being duped by others.

The struggle between Saturn and Neptune is acute at this point, as it is exact on the 29th of November. As the Full Moon peaks, so does the energy of the square. On one level it could be seen as a battle between the rigidity of religious conviction (Saturn in Sagittarius) and the sense that we are all one and all connected (Neptune in Pisces). Certainly the harsh light of reality is being pointed towards religion at the moment and it is very clear how social and religious conditioning as well as some clever propaganda can so easily create fear which leads intolerance, hatred and prejudice. What is real (Saturn) and what are lies (Neptune)? We are lead to believe that we are all separate, but that is an illusion because we all come from the same melting pot. What happens to one happens to us all, as Friday the 13th so clearly demonstrated. A homeopathic friend of mine sent me a message that day saying that it was bizarre - she had an inordinate amount of people calling up the homeopathic helpline suffering from extreme anxiety. Later on we discovered why. They were sensing the energy of the day. We are all connected.

The resolution to the T-square lies in the point opposite Neptune, as it completes the square. This point is in Virgo, the sign of discernment. Virgo asks that we separate the wheat from the chafe and decide what information we accept and what is simply fear based illusion. She asks that we leave behind the sense of being a helpless victim and find practical solutions. She prompts us to find a way to serve and help others in their hour of need. It is all very well feeling a sense of empathy and compassion for our fellow beings, but another thing altogether to find some concrete way of reaching out in the spirit of unconditional love. Mostly, however, Virgo could help us make sense of it all and decide what it real. She’s good at that.

The Sabian symbol for Neptune at 8° Pisces is “A girl blowing a bugle”, which represents “a call to participation in the service of the race, as an evolutionary crisis approaches.” This symbol speaks of the need to sound the call, to awaken people and make them aware of the reality of what is going on in the world. Dane Rudyar says of this symbol “A new race of human beings may well be slowly unfolding some of its potential of consciousness and fulfilment.” It is time for us to step up to the plate and also to see beyond fear and ego, like the wise owl. This symbol is resonant with the Gemini Moon symbol, as it awakens us all to the need for action. It is time to wake up. Those who are already awake need to help those who are still asleep to see and understand the truth. What has become exceedingly clear in the past couple of weeks is that we are dealing with a battle between fear based separation and One Love. Both have been equally present, as people’s compassion and empathy for human suffering has been awakened, partly by the awareness that it could so easily have been us. On the other hand, some people are allowing themselves to be played like puppets and are spewing ignorance, intolerance and hatred towards their fellow men and women.  Which will win this battle? With all of my heart, I pray that it is One Love.

And this, from Aquarian visionary Bob Marley:

One Love! One Heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.
Hear the children cryin' (One Love!);
Hear the children cryin' (One Heart!),
Sayin': give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Sayin': let's get together and feel all right.

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love!);
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart!):
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?

One Love! What about the one heart? One Heart!
What about - ? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love!);
So shall it be in the end (One Heart!),
All right!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
One more thing!

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One Love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One Song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.

Sayin': One Love! What about the One Heart? (One Heart!)
What about the - ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One Love!);
Oh, Lord! (One Heart) Wo-ooh!

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.

SCORPIO NEW MOON - 11 November 2015

Well, here we are, in the dark of the Moon in Scorpio, the sign that likes to plunge down into the deepest, darkest realms of our psyches and find what treasure is hidden below! The New Moon is a time of endings and beginnings, when we leave behind whatever isn’t serving us and set positive intentions for the month ahead. This is a particularly potent New Moon, because Scorpio season is a time of letting go; of releasing and purging so that we can be reborn, shiny and new, free of our psychic baggage. Indeed, we are being offered an opportunity to really confront ourselves and face some emotional truths rather than sweeping them under the carpet and pretending that all is well and we are perfect. Scorpio is a very karmic sign, so this is a perfect time for recognising and freeing ourselves from old, sabotaging patterns that have no place in our lives anymore. Like snakes shedding old skin.

Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication, is joining the Sun and Moon in Scorpio for this lunation, which will help us gain some penetrating insights into our psyches. This is a time for delving deep into our shadows, facing our fears and facing all that we would usually rather deny in ourselves. It is a time to recognise and admit our vulnerabilities, exposing our tender underbellies rather than putting on an act. It is not an easy process, but the rewards are great if we are willing to sit with our shadows rather than pushing them away and pretending they don’t exist. Issues of power and powerless could come to the surface now, and we could become very aware of where we hold on too tightly to control and where we give our power away. Scorpio is a deeply transforming sign and will push us to release anything that is holding us back from moving forward on our paths. The more we resist necessary and inevitable growth, the harder the lessons we will have to face.

Pluto, the ruler of this Moon, is forming a positive aspect to Mercury, doubling the potential for us to gain tremendous insight into our shadows and blind spots during this Moon. It would be a great time for therapy and soul work, because our minds will be better able to really get to the heart of the matter. Pluto is the planet of the soul, so we have a chance to think and speak from our deeper selves rather than glossing over or avoiding the truth of the matter. This is a time for emotional truth, whereby we have the opportunity to strip back and pare away the layers of superficiality until we are raw and exposed, but also very much relieved!

Jupiter, Uranus and Chiron are all forming aspects to the Sun and Moon, helping us to heal and free ourselves of our old patterns and psychic garbage! Uranus, the Great Awakener, will help us to face the unknown and release us from any past conditioning that is holding us prisoner. As he represents our long term memory he could cause us to suddenly remember things that we might have pushed to the back of our memory banks.  This could be a very insightful time, with many epiphanies. The truths that come out could shake us up a bit, but Uranus encourages us to be utterly ourselves rather than the persona we present to the world. In the meantime Chiron, the Wounded Healer, will help us to approach anything that comes up in the spirit of kindness and compassion, both for ourselves and others. We have a chance for some deep healing to occur here as we delve deep below and unearth some of our more buried wounds and insecurities. This is where Jupiter in Virgo comes in, because he is willing to do whatever work is necessary to make us more whole and bring us back into a state of balance. He reminds us that our mind, body and spirit are all connected, and so a malady or injury is often a sign of something much deeper than merely the physical and can reveal where we might be emotionally stuck or wounded.

In the meantime, the energy of Saturn/Neptune Square is building as the aspect grows ever closer to being exact on November 26th. Combined with the energy of this Scorpio New Moon, this has the potential to make us feel quite vulnerable, anxious and even sad or melancholy. We might find ourselves having no choice but to face realities we would rather deny and could also realise that what we thought was true is in fact not true at all. We might be made all too aware of our blind spots, those sabotaging parts of ourselves that we are utterly unaware of. This energy could make us a bit more prone to seeing the darker side of things during this Moon, so it is important to recognise the potential for depression and pessimism (Saturn) and for avoidance and playing the victim (Neptune). Certainly it could become very obvious where we are in denial and lying to ourselves. There’s no hiding from the truth during this Moon, methinks!

The Sabian symbol for this New Moon is very interesting and extremely powerful – “A woman draws away two dark curtains closing the entrance to a sacred pathway”. Dane Rudyar says of this symbol “Courage is needed to go through the veiling darkness – the courage to venture beyond the familiar and the traditionally known, to PLUNGE AHEAD INTO THE UNKNOWN.” If we are willing to face our fears, delving into the shadows and being willing to truly confront ourselves, we may be granted to ability to “see” and understand. This could also speak of drawing back the veil of illusion so that we can see the truth. There is a sense that it is our fears and ego (the dark curtains) that are stopping us from finding our way onto the sacred pathway (our soul’s path), but that it has been there all along. What we seek we already know. It is only our unwillingness to face ourselves that have prevented us from seeing it. It is exciting, as there is a sense that something will be revealed to us during this time that could really help us move forward on our soul’s path.  We just have to be willing to dive into the murky depths and find the hidden treasure that lies there waiting for us!

Much love

    Amy Bird

    I love writing about the Moon and the effect it has on us all, both collectively and personally. We all look at the same Moon and feel her energy, albeit in different ways. It reminds us that we are not alone and there is something very comforting about that!
