AQUARIUS NEW MOON / CHINESE NEW YEAR OF THE RABBIT - 21 January 2023

Picture
Exact at 8.53pm UK time (GMT)

This is no ordinary New Moon, as it is also a Supermoon, which means that it will have a bigger impact on us, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It also heralds the beginning of the Yin Water Rabbit, which could feel like a welcome relief after the Yang Water Tiger year! We may feel the need to slow down and get some rest this year. Yin Water is softer and more flowing, and the Rabbit is known for being gentle, sensitive, tender, elegant and refined. That being said, Rabbits can sometimes be a bit fearful of predators, so while we are encouraged to be creative this year, we could feel a little stuck at times, as we struggle to find the courage to put plans into action. However, Rabbits do intuitively know how to get ahead in the world and can be quite quick and alert.

This does feel like a very potent and energised New Moon, and Aquarius asks us to contemplate our hopes, dreams and visions for a better future, setting positive intentions that come from our heart. The Aquarius part of us truly believes in community in the truest sense of the word, and genuinely wants to make this world a better place for everyone. An Aquarian Motto could be “All for one and one for all!” Aquarius is also the part of us that questions the rules and is willing and able to stand up to authority if needs be. As such, Aquarius season, which begins with the New Moon, can bring the activist, rebel and revolutionary out in us, bringing the potential for more uprisings, marches, protests and revolutions.

There is an unpredictable, electrical energy to Aquarius, which is quite a contrast to the more cautious, realistic, disciplined and responsible energy of Capricorn season. Aquarius is the part of us that is a good friend and likes to gather in groups with like-minded people. Our relationship with our friends is slightly more detached, less intimate than with our lovers and family members, and so we are able to see each other more clearly, giving our objective feedback when our friends are in need of advice or support. The closer we get to someone, the harder it is to be objective! Aquarius is a friendly yet slightly cool and aloof kind of energy – friendly but not too familiar.

This could be a good Moon for taking a step back from whatever we are going through and seeing things from a different perspective, which could help bring some insight, understanding and clarity. Indeed, we could experience some kind of shift that brings much needed change, setting us back on the right path. Aquarius and its planetary ruler, Uranus, are the kind of energy that shakes things up somewhat, dusting off the cobwebs and helping us get out of whatever safe, secure but stagnant rut we may have inadvertently fallen into. Change can be a scary thing to contemplate, so we tend to put it off until things have become so intolerable that we have no choice in the matter. This could be a very good Moon to instigate healthy and positive change, rather than waiting for something to come along and force it on us.

Luckily, we have Mars and Jupiter forming supportive and helpful aspects to the Sun and Moon, which could really help us to find the courage we need to either take a stand or initiate change. Jupiter in Aries is such brave and enthusiastic energy, helping us to feel the fear and do it anyway! Jupiter is the planet of growth and expansion, while Aries is the pioneer and brave warrior, so this Moon could help us to have the courage, confidence, faith and motivation to move past obstacles, rolling any boulders out of our way with ease! Jupiter will be exactly sextile the Sun in the early hours of Wednesday 25 January, so the energy will be building in strength during this Moon.

Mars in Gemini is also forming a helpful trine aspect to the Sun and Moon, although it is not as strong because it won’t be exactly trine the Sun until 30 January. However, it is still significant and could help us to make decisions and to have the courage to act on whatever we decide. Gemini is the sign of the mind and communication, so Mars can help us to say what needs to be said and to confront some thorny or challenging material. Mars helps us to not waver once we have decided upon a course of action. As Mars approaches the trine with the Sun in the next week or so, we could feel a much-needed boost of courage, motivation and energy.

Interestingly enough, there is a supportive trine aspect between Uranus and Mercury that is starting to build during this Moon, which is also exact on 30 January. This could help us to think outside of the box and see things from a different perspective. It can open our minds to new information and help us to come up with ingenious solutions to anything we may be facing. It can help us to change our minds, bringing new insight, epiphanies and even an “aha” moment or two! Mercury is now direct, having been retrograde for three weeks, and Uranus turns direct on 23 January, so there is a forward moving energy around, especially as all the planets will now be direct!

Anyone with personal planets or angles around 14/15° of a sign will be feeling the liberating, exciting, changing energy of Uranus most acutely, especially those in the fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Those with planets and angles around 1° of a sign, especially the fixed signs, will feel the full impact of this Aquarius Moon.

Pluto and the Sun are joining forces in Capricorn on Wednesday 18 January, a couple of days before the New Moon.  Anyone with personal planets or angles around 28° of a sign, especially the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn could feel this powerful, transforming and potentially empowering energy the strongest. Power and transformation are the theme here, as well as potentially having to face something we would rather not have to deal with. Pluto will still be very close to the Sun and Moon during this New Moon, although they will have moved into Aquarius, while Pluto remains at 28° Capricorn.

The Sabian Symbol for this Moon, at 2° Aquarius, is a powerful one indeed – “The unexpected thunderstorm”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The need to develop the inner security which will enable us to meet unexpected crisis. The symbol itself – “An unexpected thunderstorm” – could be given a very positive meaning in an arid environment, but the emphasis on “unexpected” tends to accent the sudden dangerous character of the event. Such a thunderstorm in a region of dry hills can cause a devastating flood. At any rate, it refers to an event for which one is not prepared – a menace to men’s works. This scene stresses the fact that nature may reduce to impermanence the seemingly most permanent endeavours and constructive activities of men. Under a downpour of rain, adobe brick can return to mud. All human institutions and their achievements can be washed away, even in their day of great glory. “Dust you were, dust you must become.” This is NATURE’S CHALLENGE.”

Indeed, Aquarius does bring the potential for sudden shocks and surprises that bring change. And Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, is currently in Taurus, a sign that represents the natural world, the economy and our safety and security in a physical and financial sense. As such, we could receive some surprises in this area of our lives. However, Aquarius and Uranus also call for us to come up with solutions and can be very innovative. Sometimes we need a bit of a shock to jolt us out of apathy and stagnation. This Moon does seem to be providing us with the faith, courage and motivation to initiate change, to stand up for what we believe in and to take a step towards creating the kind of world we would be happy living in. It’s up to us to make the most of it.

Much Love

CAPRICORN NEW MOON - 23 December 2022

Exact at 10.16am UK time (GMT)

This is a potent New Moon, as it is also a Supermoon, which means that it could have an above average impact on our minds, bodies, emotions and spirits. New Moons tend to set the tone for the month ahead and it can be helpful to contemplate what we might want to leave behind in the dark of the Moon and what we might want to cultivate more of moving forward. This particular Moon is in Capricorn, a sign that likes to set long term goals and work slowly and steadily towards them. As such, it could be good to contemplate what those goals and aspirations are exactly and think about what we would like to achieve in 2023. What would we like to let go of that is no longer serving us? What kind of realistic plans can we make to make our lives better moving forward? What is our greatest wish?

The Capricorn part of us is a realist and a pragmatist. It is the part of us that likes to make plans and set goals for ourselves, and then slowly but steadily work towards making those goals a reality. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, Cronus, Father Time, and so it brings the gift of patience and waiting until the time is right to make things happen. It also brings the discipline needed to apply ourselves to whatever task we have set ourselves. Capricorn also teaches us lessons about responsibility. Do we tend to shy away from responsibility, or do we often find ourselves carrying too much on our shoulders? Where in our lives are we shouldering a burden that has become too heavy? Are we able to share the load somehow, or admit that we are struggling and ask for help? Can we delegate some of our duties?

Capricorn also calls for us to take responsibility for ourselves and to grow up, acting from a place of maturity. It is easy to blame others for whatever happens to us, but Capricorn reminds us that we are always in control of how we respond, react and act, and are ultimately responsible for ourselves. Capricorn is the part of us that strives to be successful and isn’t afraid to take on our authority and put ourselves out there. This Moon could bring into focus what success means to us. What does it mean to be a successful human being? What might need to change and what work do we need to do on ourselves in order for us to be happy, healthy and grounded in the world? How do we hold ourselves back from achieving our goals?  Are we afraid of failure, or are we more afraid of success? What, when we are honest with ourselves, are our heartfelt aspirations for ourselves?

Jupiter moves back into Aries on 20 December and will remain there until 16 May 2023. Jupiter is also very present during this Moon, as it is forming a dynamic square aspect to the Sun and Moon. Aries is the sign of “I am”, so this could be a time of considerable self-growth and self-improvement. How can we expand our sense of self and take care of our needs so that we are better able to go out into the world and be a better human being? We could find ourselves raring at the bit, pushing ourselves out there, initiating new projects and challenging ourselves to grow and move past any limitations. Jupiter can also magnify any feelings of anger that we may feel, however, and anger can be quite destructive if projected outward and self-destructive if swallowed and turned inwards. On the other hand, righteous anger can be very helpful, especially if it incites action.

Jupiter in Aries can really help us to find the self-confidence and courage to try new things, bringing out our pioneering spirit, although it can also mean that we overextend ourselves or think that we are better or capable of more than we actually are. Our Aries self may feel very enthusiastic and confident and want to jump straight in, while our Capricorn self asks us to slow down a bit, to be a bit sensible and practice a bit more caution. However, the Capricorn part of us can sometimes feel quite fearful, so a bit of courage and/or righteous anger could be helpful! This square from Jupiter does feel like it could be a good boost of energy to help us to come up with some ways to improve ourselves and our lives.

Venus and Mercury are also in Capricorn now, so the energy has well and truly shifted from enthusiastic Sagittarius to grounded, earthy, cautious Capricorn. Mercury is getting ready to go retrograde in Capricorn from 30 December until 18 January. Capricorn is quite a deep thinking, reflective and introspective sign, so this retrograde period could help us to go back over ground we have already covered in the past month and review and reflect in a retrospective manner.Sometimes there are things we may have missed the first time around, and this retrograde period could allow us to see them or talk them over. We might rehash old plans or ideas and tweak them so that they work better.

Mercury in Capricorn can be quite thorough, helping us to see the bare bones of whatever issue our minds are mulling over. However, it can also send our minds into some rather dark or bleak places, so it is important not to dwell on feelings of guilt, regret or self-judgement. People or memories from the past could pop up for us to tie up loose ends or complete unfinished business and could also bring up old grief to honour and release. Looking back can sometimes help us to move forward.

Chiron the Wounded Healer, on the other hand, is getting ready to turn direct on 24 December, having been retrograde since July. When planets are stationed ready to go retrograde or direct, their energy feels strongest, as will be the case when Mercury is getting ready to go retrograde around the 30th! In the case of Chiron, this brings the potential for some amazing healing to occur over the Christmas period, although our sore spots could also be triggered! It is quite possible that people could say things that are somewhat hurtful but ultimately healing, as Mars, the ruler of Aries, is currently retrograde in Gemini, the sign of communication. This could help us to bring up any issues or anger from the past that need talking about and resolving because they have been festering for too long.

Chiron in Aries doesn’t exactly have the gentlest bedside manner, but it is direct and honest, bringing up material that needs to be faced and giving us the courage to confront and work on ourselves. It does bring the potential for people being a bit over-sensitive and reactionary but could also help us to bring up any thorny issues that need to be addressed for healing to occur. Anyone with personal planets or angles around 11° of a sign will feel the energy of Chiron most acutely, especially the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Uranus is helping out during this Moon, forming a supportive trine to Venus, the planet of relationships, exact on 22 December. This could bring some excitement into our social lives, livening things up and helping us to step out of our comfort zone. Uranus can help us to switch up the way we relate to one another, liberating ourselves from unhealthy patterns of relating and breathing new life into our relationships. If we have been stuck in a rut in our relationships, with things becoming a bit stale, this energy could help us to add some much-needed spice and shake things up a little bit. This combination could be quite fun, calling for us to expect the unexpected! Those of us with personal planets or angles around 15° of a sign will feel the liberating, unpredictable, enlivening energy of Uranus most acutely, especially in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 2° Capricorn, is: “Three rose windows in a Gothic church, one damaged by war”, which Dane Rudyar describes as: ”The necessary realisation by any individual making a violent use of collective power that it will lead to the inevitable destruction of some of the values ensuring group-integration. It seems obvious that the interpretation of this symbol should refer to the disruptive consequences of war. A “rose window” is not absolutely essential to a cathedral, yet it symbolises that through which the “light of the Spirit” enters into the edifice. Man’s soul is said to be three-fold. Which part of man’s inner trinity of principles tends to be destroyed by the use of violence? Evidently the principle of love and compassion.”

This seems a good time to remind ourselves that Neptune is still in Pisces, calling for kindness, compassion, unity and an awareness that we are all ultimately connected, even though we may sometimes feel alone. The Chiron in Aries energy may be strong during this Moon, and some people may act or react in anger, but this may simply be because they are scared, hurt or in pain. This can be a difficult time of year for many, and this year has been especially challenging, so it is very important to be mindful of this and keep our hearts open to one another, even if others are acting in ways that we do not understand. This New Moon is a powerful one, when we have a chance to turn inward and set some positive and realistic intentions for the year ahead, while leaving anything that no longer serves us behind, in the dark of the Moon. What, when it comes down to the bare bones of the matter, is our greatest wish for this next year?

Much Love

AQUARIUS FULL MOON/SUPERMOON - 12 August 2022

Exact at 2.35am UK time (BST)

This is an incredibly potent Full Moon with the potential to bring considerable shifts and powerful changes into our lives. It is the last supermoon of the year, which always has a greater impact on our mind, body, spirit and emotions than your average Full Moon. Not only that, but Uranus, the ruler of the Aquarius Moon, is forming a dynamic square to the Sun and Moon, intensifying the unpredictable, revolutionary and liberating energy of this Moon. It we have been stuck in a rut or some kind of holding pattern then this Moon could jolt us into awareness, setting us back onto the right path, freeing us from unhealthy, unhelpful patterns and releasing us from any conditioning that simply no longer serves us. Sometimes we need a bit of a shock to create the internal or external change that is needed.

The Sun remains in playful, creative, enthusiastic and dramatic Leo, the part of us that likes to feel special and thrives on a bit of validation, recognition and encouragement. Leo is a sign that encourages us to follow our hearts and do whatever brings us our greatest joy. Directly opposite the Leo Sun is the Moon in eccentric, humanitarian, non-conformist and friendly Aquarius, the part of us that sometimes feels a bit like an outsider and has the capacity to question the rules and consensus reality. Aquarius is a sign that encourages us to take a step back and look at ourselves and life from a different perspective, so that we can be more objective. The Leo part of us tends to be more subjective, so it can help to step out of a more “self”centred reality and see things from a different perspective. However, Leo can also help the Aquarius part of ourselves to step into the limelight and fully participate in life instead of standing on the sidelines looking in.

Aquarius is the part of us that questions authority and the rules and structures that society has put in place to keep some kind of control over the population. It is the part of us that seeks to individuate, becoming the unique being that we truly are rather than the version of ourselves that our parents and teachers molded us into. This Moon definitely has the potential to bring some kind of shift of awareness and to help us to get back into the path that is more true to who we really are. It is so easy to deviate from the path, doing whatever brings a sense of comfort, security and safety, while deep inside we know that it is not quite right for us on some level. Aquarius doesn’t allow us to simply conform or “settle”, but reminds us that we must be true to ourselves and forge our own unique path. It can also help us to connect with like-minded people who have a similar vision of what could be and how that might be achieved.

With Uranus and the Nodes of the Moon squaring the Sun and Moon, this is a fateful Full Moon that could bring about some shocks and surprises that give us a huge amount of insight and objective awareness, helping us to step out of the comfort zone and grow on a soul level. This Moon could bring out our more non-conformist, revolutionary tendencies and with Mars in on the act there could potentially be uprisings and unrest as we are given more insight into any unjust or unfair practice by those in authority. Uranus has the power to help us to “wake up” and look beyond the prevailing narrative and see things more clearly, and with Mars involved this has the potential to bring up anger! However, anger used constructively can really make things happen as we find ways to right wrongs and create change.

With Uranus, Mars and the North Node all in Taurus, the sign of survival, the cause for unrest may well revolve around the economy, our finances and the capacity to sustain ourselves. When people are struggling to survive they rise up and protest! However, while Uranus can bring about rebellion and revolution, it can also bring innovation and ingenious solutions. Necessity is the mother of invention, and so we may well find ourselves thinking outside of the box and coming up with some alternative and unique solutions to any problems we might be facing. Aquarius is the sign of the People and it is amazing what can be achieved when we come together and fight for a common cause.

Saturn is also sitting right next to the Aquarius Moon, bringing the Uranus/Saturn square back into focus. The energy of the square, which was so prevalent last year, will be building in intensity until the beginning of October. On a personal level this could help us to break through any rigid patterns and conditioning that hold us prisoner. We may experience an internal battle between the part of us that feels fear and a need to maintain a sense of control and the part of us that seeks to be free and make change, challenging the status quo.

On a collective level we could experience the continued dismantling of the structures and people rising up against governmental authority. Saturn in Aquarius could also bring greater control through the use of technology and fear tactics around money and survival that have a huge impact on the way we behave and interact with money. Fear is a powerful tool for control, especially when it revolves around survival. When we fall into fear we can literally block the flow of energy and abundance. It is very important that we do whatever we can to keep our vibration high and not tune into the lower vibration of fear. Easier said than done sometimes, however! It will certainly be interesting to see what happens between now and the beginning of October, as the planet of the “People”, awakening and revolution comes up against the planet of authority, structure and control.

Anyone with personal planets around 18° of a sign will be feeling the liberating, unsettling, revolutionary urge for freedom that Uranus can bring, especially in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Uranus can make us want to bust out of whatever cage we have created for ourselves and can liberate us from old, outworn programming that is holding us back from feeling free. It can be very unsettling and changeable, however, which could make us feel quite uneasy. Ultimately it has the potential to help us align with our one unique, authentic nature and to be utterly true to who we really are, even if this comes to a shock to ourselves and others!

Pluto is forming a supportive trine to Mars during this Moon, which could give us quite an energetic boost that helps us to find the courage to overcome some big obstacles. Pluto is the planet of power, transformation, the subconscious and the soul, and in aspect to the Mars, the planet of action, assertion and motivation, we could find that we are brave enough to peer into the shadows and bring out into the open some material that we may usually find it too hard to face. This feels like it complements the revolutionary energy of this Moon, helping us to find the energy and courage to make the change happen and to recognise and transcend our own psychological blocks. A considerable amount of soul growth is possible during this Moon, that’s for sure!

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 20° Aquarius, is a rather special one: “A large white dove bearing a message” which Dane Rudyar describes as “The answer of spiritual agencies to thorough, sustained and victorious individual efforts. The individual who has gone courageously and with indomitable spirit through his crucial crisis receives, as it were, a deep spiritual blessing from the Soul-realm: “Mission accomplished. Peace be with you.” And in this blessing a secret prophecy of what is yet to come may be seen by the perspicacious and spiritually sensitive mind of the recipient. Every real spiritual step a man takes in his development is the result of a victory over forces of inertia or destruction. The Divine is totally “present” in the heart of all true victories. What the “message” is depends on the particular situation, but the white dove always signifies peace; at the very heart of this peace is the CERTIFICATION of individual worth and victory”.

This symbol certainly brings a feeling of hope! This Moon seems to be asking us to be open to change and to be true to ourselves, doing the necessary inner work so that inner and outer shifts are possible. Yes, there is the potential for unrest and questioning those in authority, but there is also the potential for profound insight that can change our lives for the better. Uranus and Aquarius seek to liberate us from whatever prison we have constructed for ourselves and to recognise that we hold the key - all is takes is a shift of perspective. Freedom is a state of mind and there are always solutions if we are open to them. The most important work we have at the moment is to avoid falling into fear, as it really does block the flow of love, abundance and energy. Whatever change occurs during this time, however unsettling or upsetting it may be, can ultimately help us to realign and reconnect to our true path. To thine own self be true.

Much Love

SCORPIO FULL MOON / SUPERMOON - 27 April 2021

SCORPIO FULL MOON / SUPERMOON - Tuesday 27 April, exact at 4.31am UK time

This is an incredibly powerful Supermoon that has the potential to bring much needed change and transformation. Supermoons tend to have a greater impact on us spiritually, physically and mentally, not to mention the tides. We also have Pluto, the ruler of this Scorpio Full Moon, standing still in preparation to go retrograde, which increases the strength, influence and potency of the planet of soul, power and transformation. Anyone with planets or angles around 26° of a sign, especially the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, will be feeling the potent transforming power of Pluto the most acutely.

Full Moons tend to bring anything to a head that might have been building up within us over the course of the past couple of weeks. And when Scorpio is involved, it is quite possible that some rather intense emotions could come up and secrets could be revealed that could leave us feeling rather exposed and vulnerable. Scorpio tends to force us to recognise what lies in the shadows, bringing some rather uncomfortable material out from beneath the proverbial carpet! It is also the sign of death and rebirth, so this Moon could bring about some kind of transformation or metamorphosis, both personally and collectively.

Whenever Scorpio is involved, we are asked to dig deep and face up to the darker aspects of existence; the subjects we don’t usually like to talk about and the parts of ourselves and life that we would usually rather not admit to. With Pluto in such a powerful position, we could be prompted to somehow purge and detoxify anything that is rotten or decaying in our lives, including habits and unhealthy emotional patterns. With Pluto still in Capricorn, the structures of our lives have been experiencing an overhaul in recent times, not to mention the detoxification and exposure of the power structures such as governments and corporations so that they are forced to become more transparent. The old, outworn, archaic patriarchal values, systems and structures of Capricorn are slowly but surely being dismantled so that something better can take their place. However, they are not going down without a fight! As they say, it is always darkest just before dawn.

We are now in Taurus season, with the Taurus Sun sitting directly opposite the Scorpio Moon. Taurus is that part of us that quite likes peace, stability, security and tranquility and is somewhat resistant to change. Scorpio, however, invites us to shed our “skin” and any unhealthy attachments and purge, sometimes having to walk cross a burning bridge and not look back. While Taurus is quite down to earth and not prone to upsetting the apple cart, dramatic and intense Scorpio invites us to take a trip into the underworld and dig out the rotten apples. We may be called to let go of anything we are holding onto too tightly in order to stay safe. We all know, deep inside, what needs to go, its’ just that change is scary sometimes to we tend to cling to the status quo even when it is not serving us anymore.

Speaking of change, the interesting thing about this Moon is that we have Uranus, the planet of wake up calls, sudden change or insight, shocks and surprises, sitting right next to the Taurus Sun! Change is afoot, as much as the Taurus part of us may resist it! It is quite possible that we could experience some kind of an epiphany or curve ball, especially if we have planets or angles around 7° of a sign, particularly the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Anything that has become stuck or stagnant may be subject to some much needed upheaval. This could be rather unsettling but could also be exciting and rejuvenating! Uranus is the planet of innovation, progression and invention, so this Moon calls for us to think outside of the box and approach whatever we are facing from a different perspective.

Taurus represents our financial security, our values, our sense of worth, our capacity to attract abundance and any issues we may have around survival. Uranus is currently shaking all of that up! We all have past life and ancestral trauma lingering in our long term memory around survival and so the current situation could be triggering this trauma, bringing uncertainty and fear. However, Uranus does also hold the promise of alternative solutions to our current dilemma, releasing us from old, traditional, rigid, outworn methods of approaching money and values. Indeed, there could be a financial revolution! Something else to bear in mind is that Uranus represents technology, so the potential of digital currency is a definite possibility in the next few years, while Uranus remains in Taurus. On another level, Uranus in Taurus can bring earthquakes and volcanoes, which have been rife in recent times and could be triggered by this Full Moon.

The Saturn Uranus square that is such a big part of this year is being activated by this Full Moon. The second of three squares will be exact on 14 June and is starting to build now. Saturn represents structure, control, authority, consensus reality, suppression, government and tradition, while Uranus represents new vision, revolution, rebellion, innovation, progression, breakthrough, freedom and awakening. Who will win this battle? It is quite possible that the way we have structured reality will be somehow broken down during this time, as Uranus wakes us up and releases us from any conditioning and programming that is holding us prisoner. This could feel very destabilising, as what we thought was real and to be trusted is exposed for what it is and the structures of society continue the process of being broken down. Sometimes we have to experience breakdown, however, in order to break through to the other side. It is important to trust that this is a necessary process that we must go through, both personally and collectively.

Saturn is that part of us that feels fear and prefers to feel like we are in control. Uranus shakes everything up, producing sudden shocks that alter our perspective and set us on a new trajectory, whether we like it or not! Saturn is the voice of authority that tells us to abide by the rules and do what we are told without question. Uranus is the rebel that thinks outside the box, questioning the rules and offering an alternative. Saturn is structure and stability, while Uranus is inherently destabilising, blasting through rigid structures. Saturn is the part of us that has been programmed to think and behave in a certain way by parents and society. Uranus releases us from that conditioning and encourages us to find out who we really are and what we really think. Saturn is authority, Uranus is revolution. Saturn is the old ways, Uranus is the new. We may well feel an internal battle going on between the part of us that is fearful, conforming and likes to feel in control and the part of us that is ready to release ourselves from the past, stepping into the unknown, the untried and untested. Change is inevitable, but scary too!

The Sabian symbols for this Moon, at 8° Scorpio, is “A calm lake bathed in moonlight”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “A quiet openness to higher inspiration. Man strives hard to achieve great things through daring adventures, but a moment comes when all that really matters is to present a calm mind upon which a supernal light may be reflected. This symbol tells us that beyond all efforts lie the need for peace and the readiness to accept the illumination from above. The Keyword is QUIESCENCE.” Well, this is very peaceful symbol that seems to suggest that we just remain quiet and open and trust that we will soon be shown the way. Quiescence brings the sense of being in a quiet, dormant state, in suspended animation. Maybe we are being told that the answers will come but we must be patient, even if we feel like we have had enough and want to move forward. Faith and trust!

There is much change and transformation promised by this Moon, although the Sabian symbol seems to suggest that we are also in some kind of holding pattern and need to wait. However, we are invited to do some deep inner work and open ourselves up to the possibility of change. This may bring up fear, as it threatens the safe, stable structures of our lives, so it could be helpful to focus on the positive aspects of what change could mean. We may be forced to confront issues around loss, power/powerlessness, sexuality, intimacy, secrets, shared resources, abandonment and trust during this Moon, which are all good Scorpio/Pluto themes! This is an ideal opportunity to face ourselves squarely and honestly, even if we don’t like what we see in the mirror. What do we project out onto others that we can’t admit to in ourselves? How do we give our power away? What impact does fear have on our behaviour? What needs to be detoxified and purified so that we can rise like a phoenix from the ashes? Who are we really, behind the façade?

Much Love

LIBRA FULL MOON / SUPERMOON - 28 March 2021

Exact at 6.48pm UK time.

This is an action-packed supermoon that could have quite an impact, especially for anyone with personal planets or angles somewhere around 8° of the sign they are in. We have an Aries party forming that will continue to grow in numbers over the course of the next few weeks. Aries is the sign of action, assertion, anger, independence and courage; the first sign of the zodiac, symbolising new growth and the urge to venture into unknown territory. The Moon is full in peaceful, diplomatic, sociable Libra, sitting directly opposite the Aries Sun, which could bring anything that has been simmering below the surface out into the light of consciousness. Full Moons always play out in the realm of our relationships, and none more so than this one, as it falls on the relationship axis.

Libra seeks peace at all costs and can tend towards people pleasing, while Aries is not afraid to challenge or agitate, which can create friction and unrest but also gets things out into the open. While Libra is adept at the art of compromise and can be gentle, kind and diplomatic, Aries charges straight in with guns blazing and can be direct, forthright and to the point. A mixture of the two signs is preferable, rather than veering too far in either direction! While the Libran part of us might tend to put others first and sacrifice our own needs, the Aries part of us is good at taking care of ourselves and knowing when to say no to others if what they are asking of us is detrimental to us in some way. However, in the extreme Aries can be selfish, self-serving and impervious to the needs of others. While our inner Libra may tend to “grin and bear it”, putting up some kind of façade so as not to rock the boat, our inner Aries is entirely without guile and cannot hide what we are feeling even if it gets us into trouble. Do we sit on the fence or do we make a stand?

Libra is a sign that seeks equality, fairness and justice. However, the ruler of Libra, Venus, is sitting right next to the Sun and Chiron the Wounded Healer in forthright Aries right now, possibly asking for a more direct approach! With Venus in Aries it is possible that the Divine Feminine is being called to stand strong and rise up in the name of justice. There are ways to assert ourselves that are not aggressive, provocative or reactionary, so that we take a stand in a firm yet peaceful way. This Moon could call for people to get off the proverbial fence and draw their line in the sand in the name of fairness and truth. Libra asks for this to be done peacefully and with grace, while Aries demands courage, determination and honesty. We may be forced to take risks and bring things out into the open that cause pain in some way, as Chiron the Wounded Healer is involved too! However, there is the potential for such amazing healing if we are able to open up and be honest about our feelings.

All this Aries energy, especially combined with Chiron, could leave us feeling quite agitated, unsettled and reactionary, but can also spur us into action and bring out our sacred warrior. Aries calls for us to take the lead, while the Libran part of us prefers to let other people take the reins and may tend to acquiesce. It could become all too apparent which tendency we have during this time. It seems as though this Moon is asking us to harness the higher qualities of Aries, such as courage, fortitude, honesty and the capacity to feel the fear and do it anyway. It could certainly get things out into the open, although hopefully in a kind, considerate and gentle way. However, there is also the potential for conflict, anger, aggression and people saying or doing things that trigger us and cause strong reactions or defensiveness, so it is important to be as self-aware as possible and not allow our egos get in the way.

Mars, the ruler of Aries, is sitting right next to the North Node in Gemini, calling for us to have the courage of our convictions and speak out if we need to. The North Node has been in Gemini since May 2020, calling for us to use our common sense rather than blindly believing all we are told to be true. It also calls for us to do any research necessary to find facts and data to back up any intuitive hunches we may have. Mars is the warrior, and in Gemini it calls for us to communicate in a clear, direct, forthright and decisive manner. It seems as if sitting on the fence is no longer appropriate, but rather we are asked to have the motivation and courage to seek out the facts, make decisions and to speak our truth, in whatever form that takes. Mars in Gemini doesn’t mince words and its message is clear. Mars is supported by Saturn, the planet of control, discipline and authority, so this could help temper any impulsiveness and could also signify controlled use of force by those in authority.

Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, is currently sitting right next to Neptune in Pisces, which could bring some confusion, brain fog and overwhelm. This could make it a little difficult to think clearly, and we may find ourselves off in some daydream, finding it hard to focus. It could also temper some of that Mars force and aggression, as Mercury in Pisces brings out our sensitivity, compassion and imagination in the way we think and communicate. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on which way you look at it! Mercury and Neptune are also square the Nodes, which brings the potential for deceit, propaganda, veiled truths, subliminal messages, lies, duplicity, overwhelm and profound disillusionment as the truth is so elusive and shrouded that we are left feeling utterly confused and befuddled. Neptune is moving further and father away from the square to the Nodes, but it’s not quite finished yet. This energy could make it harder for us to definitively make up our minds, but we are invited to turn inward and listen to the whisper of our soul.

Uranus is forming a nagging inconjunct to the Moon, which could bring a curveball or sudden shock that wakes us up somehow or makes us aware of what needs to change. We may feel quite unsettled and agitated, with erratic emotions and feelings of being on edge or unsafe. Indeed, emotions could come surging up suddenly, demanding release. However, Saturn is forming harmonious aspects to the Sun, Moon, Venus and Chiron, helping us to look at things in a practical and realistic way and approach whatever we are facing in a controlled, measured, disciplined manner. The higher vibration of Saturn in Aquarius helps us to take responsibility for the kind of world we want to live in and help each other out on the ground level. The lower vibration is greater authoritarian control through technology, the limitation and suppression of our freedom and the right to protest, gather in groups or question the status quo, and the harsh reality of a life spent in front of a computer and away from our friends. Saturn is very present during this Moon.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon, at 9° Libra, is “Three “Old Masters” hanging on the wall of a special room in an art gallery”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The need to return to source during a confused search for new value in a chaotic society. The number 3 suggests completeness; esoteric traditions speak of the three-fold Soul, or of three fundamental “Rays” of Power, of Love-Wisdom, and of Intelligence-in-action. Meditation, in its deepest sense, is return to Source – an attempt to re-identify oneself with one’s archetypal essence of being. It is suggested that in the process of “transfiguration” the presence of the greatest moments of the past is called upon, as Moses and Elijah were invoked in Jesus’ Transfiguration. The seed of the new day depends upon the seed of yesteryear for an experience of the cyclic continuity of spirit.” There is a sense of needing to go deeper, beyond the façade. On the surface there is a beautiful painting, but if we go deeper we can read the more subtle messages. Are the three masters asking us to make sure we pay attention to all aspects of our being - the mental, emotional and spiritual? There certainly is much to be learned from the past in our present situation.

There surely is a lot going on during this Moon! I am reminded of the Strength tarot card, which represents kind, gentle, compassionate power and strength, rather than brutish force. It we find a good blend of the energy of Libra and Aries we can harness this inner strength and courage to face whatever obstacles may lay in front of us with grace. Libra is a sign that seeks justice and wants to find balance between extremes. Libra’s ruler is in Aries, asking us to find our sacred warrior and take stand for what is right and fair. Aries ruler is in Gemini, calling for us to have the courage of our convictions and say what needs to be said. Gemini’s ruler is in Pisces, asking us to speak our truth in a kind, sensitive, compassionate manner that remembers that we are all struggling in our own way. Are we able to unite the Goddess of Love, Peace and Beauty with our inner warrior? Can we channel our gut instincts, raw emotions and instinctual urges in a balanced and constructive way? Can we stand our ground in a peaceful, loving way? Are we able to draw our line in the sand with grace and Love?

Much Love

LIBRA FULL MOON - Wednesday 8 April, exact at 3.35am GMT (Tues 7 April in America)

This is an incredibly powerful Full Moon, as not only does it involve some potent planetary energy, but it is also a Supermoon. Full Moons often bring out anything that may have been simmering beneath the surface and tend to play out within our relationships, bringing any underlying issues to a head. And as this Full Moon is in the sign of relationships, this is very much emphasised! We have the Moon in Libra, the sign of peace, balance and harmony opposite the Sun in Aries, the sign of war, assertion and courage, and the key is to find some kind of balance between the two. Supermoons involve an alignment between the Sun, Moon and Earth and have a more powerful effect on our mind, body, emotions and spirit than your average Full Moon. They have the potential to bring something to light that can have a profound effect on our lives, ushering in a new phase of growth. It is no surprise that this particular Moon is a Supermoon, as there is a lot going on in this cosmos of ours at the moment!  Not to mention that our relationships have been seriously tested in the past couple of weeks, since the New Moon.

Venus, the ruler of Libra, is currently in Gemini, the sign of communication and learning. There is a sense, while the planet of relationships is in this curious and versatile sign, that we will be passing a lot of information around between one other in the coming month. This Moon could involve quite a lot of conversations that could further our knowledge and help us feel more informed. Indeed, this is a good time to arm ourselves with as much information as possible. Thoughts, ideas, opinions and information could spread like wildfire as we pass on whatever we know to our loved ones, like a butterfly flitting from flower to flower spreading pollen. There is, of course, the danger of misinformation, so it is important to check and double check whatever we hear, doing our own research if necessary. Our relationships are definitely the focus of this Moon and, as many in the world at the moment are not able to physically see one another, our conversations are more important than they might usually be as they are all we have. It is no coincidence that Venus is in Gemini right now!

Venus is forming a lovely trine aspect to Mars, the ruler of the Aries Sun, which is very helpful for our relationships during this Full Moon. It allows for a nice flow of receptivity and the capacity to really listen to one another’s needs, combined with the Martian ability to assert our individuality and take care of our own needs. Mars, the planet of war, anger, assertion and courage is currently in eccentric, visionary Aquarius, the sign of liberty, equality, rebellion and freedom. With the trine aspect between the two planets, there is the potential for people communicating a lot and spreading a considerable amount of information between one another which could bring out the more rebellious side of people’s nature. Mars in Aquarius can cause people to fight for their liberty and human rights. It could give us the courage to protest, to stand up for humanitarian causes, to rebel, to revolt. It can bring up anger about the Aquarian issues of liberty, equality and our rights as human beings. Venus and Mars are literally going to be dancing with one another until the beginning of May.

In the meantime, we are currently building up to a challenging “square off” between Uranus and Mars that will peak on Tuesday 7 April but will still be very strong during this Full Moon. Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, so this magnifies the energy of Mars in Aquarius, making it more acute. Uranus is the Great Awakener and it is possible that we could have some shocking realisations or epiphanies that wake us up and make us angry. There is the potential for some kind of sudden act of Martian force that comes from left field, taking us by surprise. We could experience sudden outbursts of anger or even acts of war that shock us to our core. It is quite possible that we may be forced to find the courage to stand up for our rights and fight for our liberty. And with Mars in Aquarius, the sign of technology and the internet, the fight might be virtual.

Saturn is now in Aquarius as well, where he will be until July 1, when he goes back into Capricorn for a bit, and then again from 17 December until 7 March 2023. Saturn is the planet of authority, reality, limitation, control and responsibility. Aquarius is the sign of liberty, equality, technology, internet and our capacity to stand up for our rights and freedom. Saturn has the potential to shine the harsh light of reality on all things Aquarius, as we experience a curbing and limitation of our freedom, of our right to protest, of our human rights in general. As many are confined to their homes around the world, virtual reality is now more prevalent than ever before, through necessity. However, computers, technology and the internet can also be used for Saturnian control by those in power, as we are seeing in the use of drones to keep people in check during lockdown and apps to track people with the “virus”. We are also beginning to see the “reality” of what 5G really means, as it is being rolled out all over the globe as we speak, causing the birds to literally fall from the sky.

Aquarius is the innovative part of us that can, and has already, come up with some amazing technology that can help the world become a better, cleaner, cheaper, purer place to live. With Saturn in Aquarius is quite possible that we will become more aware of how this technology has been suppressed and repressed in the name of power, greed and control. The veils of illusion will be lifted! Saturn could now be calling for us to be accountable and to step up to the plate in the name of liberty, equality and humanity. We are called to become more responsible for creating a new world, a new vision of how the world could be. Aquarius is the visionary, and so we are being asked to help restructure our world in a way that is more fair, equal and far, far away from the current status quo. As the societal structures crumble, we are asked to take responsibility for creating a new world, the like of which we have never seen before. And this will involve stepping outside of the box and being open to new ways of operating.

Jupiter and Pluto are joining forces in Capricorn and the conjunction will be exact on 4/5April. This conjunction is forming a challenging square to the Sun and Moon during this Full Moon, so the energy will still be strong and could have a powerful effect on our emotions and relationships. This conjunction can take many forms. It brings the potential for powerful feelings of fear, panic and even paranoia to spread through the collective. We can find ourselves bombarded with so many versions of the “truth” that it is hard to know what is real. It can bring about blatant abuse of power and an escalation of fear-based control. We are asked to listen to our gut and to trust our inner guidance system and intuition: that part of us that knows what we know without knowing quite why we know it. Jupiter and Pluto together help us to dig beneath the surface in order to find the truth, although what we find might not be pretty. We know the truth, deep inside, although we might not want to admit it to ourselves.

With Pluto in Capricorn we are experiencing a death/rebirth of the structure of society and in the meantime are watching the structure of our own lives crumbling. There is the potential for an enormous amount of soul growth during this time, not to mention a radical change of values and what once held meaning to us is stripped away. Life is not going to be the same again, so it is up to us to choose how we move on from here. For many this has been a dark night of the soul, as we have been forced to face ourselves in ways that we have not had to before. Jupiter and Pluto bring the potential for profound soul growth and metamorphosis. While fear may be rife, Jupiter asks us to keep the faith. With Mercury in Pisces our imaginations could be running wild in all sorts of crazy directions, but it is so important to strengthen our faith and to nurture the sense of unity that is so strong at the moment. Fear closes the heart, causing feelings of separation that can make people turn on each other. The power of faith, and joining in unison through prayer, mantra, singing and meditation can strengthen spirit and keep the darkness at bay.

With Neptune in Pisces there is the potential for a beautiful and profound shift in consciousness. As people turn within and connect to spirit, we have a more tangible sense of how we are all connected. Now, more than ever, our compassion and empathy are ignited and we are being so very kind to each other. These are the qualities to be nurtured and strengthened during this time. The light in us all is shining brighter and brighter, collectively, which is why the shadows are so very dark right now. We must do all we can to strengthen our spirit and raise our frequency and vibration, through spiritual practice, diet and heartfelt connection with each other. Not to mention following our bliss and engaging in activities that bring us feelings of peace and joy. Gratitude practices and visualising the world we would like to live in could be so very powerful right now. Anything we can do to keep our hearts open. We are not alone. We are all in this together, and this has never been more apparent than now.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon, at 19° Libra, is: “ A gang of robbers in hiding”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “Protest against disharmonic social privilege. One might think of Robin Hood and his band, or early Bolsheviks in Russia, robbing banks to finance the revolution. The protest against an unbalanced society with its rigid stratification into classes can be seen as a positive factor, even if it challenges the principle of order, for it reveals dynamic qualities in individuals and the will to transformation. In another sense, it is the dark shadow of the ideal of “nonpossessiveness.” The question is: How valid and effectual is this kind of protest? Perhaps the fact that any effective resistance to the momentum of crystallised intuitions should be organised if it is to be effective. Individuals alone are impotent in producing actual changes in social consciousness. A “group” must be formed. The Keywords are GROUP PROTEST.”

This symbol is very interesting indeed in the light of the Martian, Aquarian and Uranian energy of this Full Moon! It hints, and not in a subtle way at all, at the power of the group to make social change. There is a sense of certain truths coming to light during this moon that could incite and ignite our righteous anger and give us the courage to act on it. With world meditations and chanting occurring all over the weekend there is a sense of unity and coming together in prayer to bring about a shift in consciousness and the potential for creating profound change on a subtle level. We must never underestimate the power of the collective. And now, more than ever before, we must strengthen our faith and harness the power of love. John Lennon was a Libran:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

So much love

    Amy Bird

I love writing about the Moon and the effect it has on us all, both collectively and personally. We all look at the same Moon and feel her energy, albeit in different ways. It reminds us that we are not alone and there is something very comforting about that!
