This is a magical Moon that could help us to plant some beautiful seeds that will hopefully blossom and bloom into magnificent flowers! It is the very last New Moon of the astrological year – a time for tying up loose ends, letting go of whatever no longer serves us and surrendering to the flow of life. Pisces reminds us that ultimately, we are not in control, rather we are in the hands of forces much larger than us. Pisces season does bring the potential for feeling somewhat overwhelmed, and for feeling a bit like a leaf being tossed around in the wind, which is all the more reason to simply let go, accept and allow ourselves to be guided to wherever we need to be. However, letting go of the need for control can be quite scary and disconcerting!
Pisces is the part of us that can dream ourselves into another reality, so this Moon invites us to turn inward and contemplate what we would ideally like to manifest into our lives and then just let it go, surrendering our wishes to divine providence. Pisces helps us to imagine our ideal scenario and then we can allow Spirit to take care of the rest, if it is right for us, that is. It is important to be mindful of what we wish for, because our wishes and intentions can be taken quite literally! Pisces remind us to keep an eye out for the subtle cues, signs and omens that help lead us along the path of life, and to pay attention to our dreams. We are all powerful manifestors, it is just a question of tuning in and trusting.
Pisces is a gentle, sensitive, impressionable, compassionate and empathetic sign that has high ideals and can sometimes struggle with the harsh realities of life. With the Sun, Moon, Saturn and Neptune all in Pisces right now and Venus not far behind, we could feel more fragile, emotional, tender and tired than usual and could also find life a bit more overwhelming than at other times. We are in the dark of the last Moon of the astrological year, so we are invited to release and surrender anything that no longer has a place in our lives so that we can be reborn and renewed when the Sun moves into Aries on the Vernal Equinox at 3.06am on 20 March in the UK. What needs to pass away right now – what beliefs, patterns, situations or habits? It is time to simply let go and allow the river of life to guide us to the next phase.
Uranus is forming a helpful, supportive sextile to the Sun and Moon, which could help us to make whatever changes feel necessary and right for us at the moment. Uranus helps bring clarity and insight so that we can see more clearly what needs to change and why. It can also bring a curveball that helps to put us back on the right path and bring a greater sense of awareness. It is an exciting, enlivening energy that can surprise us and help us to see ourselves and our situation from a higher perspective. Uranus invites us to discover our true, authentic self and can help us to recognise anything that might be shrouding it, weighing us down or blocking us from growth.
Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, the sign that powerful, transforming Pluto has just moved into, bringing a big shift for all of us as we shed the layers of the past that have been weighing us down. Pluto’s energy can bring about a dark night of the soul, stripping away self-deceit and anything that might be preventing us from evolving on a deep soul level. This is especially so for anyone with personal planets or angles around 1° of a sign, especially the fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.
With Pluto, Venus and Mars all in Aquarius right now, we are invited to find our tribe, connect with like-minded people, and to discover a greater sense of community. These are exciting times, as we are being prompted to rediscover our true, initial spark and remember who we really are, outside of who we thought we “should” be. Change can be unsettling, however, and transformation can be painful, as Pluto can make us feel as if we are being compelled by powerful forces from deep within. This is the planet of death and rebirth, after all, and many of us have experienced a big shift of energy as it has moved from Capricorn into progressive, humanitarian, community-minded Aquarius, a sign that demands authenticity and freedom.
The only jarring energy involved in this Moon is a challenging, dynamic square between Uranus and Mars, exact a few hours before the New Moon. It is interesting that Mars is also in Aquarius, Uranus’s sign, which doubles the potential for rebellious acts, acting out of character and challenging the rules and authority. However, we may be challenging our own rules! Uranus is a very “sudden” energy, so bursts of anger and irritation are possible, as are unexpected disruptions and aggressive acts that are quite shocking in nature. However, we can use this energy to step out of our comfort zone and breathe fresh air into our lives, as it could give us the courage and motivation to do things differently and act in a way that is true to ourselves. Those of us with personal planets or angles around 19° of a sign, especially the fixed signs, will feel the energy of this square most acutely.
The Sabian symbol for this Moon is beautiful, at 21° Pisces: “Under the watchful and kind eye of a Chinese servant, a girl fondles a little white lamb” which Dane Rudyar describes as “Growth in consciousness in its earlier tactile awareness of the wonders of unsophisticated living. According to the occult tradition, the original Chinese race was an extension of the humanity (or “Root Race”) preceding ours – thus the stress upon the biological factors of family and ancestors, and also on the dualism of Yang and Yin interplay. The “Chinese Servant” represents the past, as a servant of the new evolution. (The “white lamb” suggests the sign of all beginnings, Aries.) This new evolution is just about to begin during the late Pisces phase of the year cycle. It is as yet an ideal, a white loveliness. The girl discovers the new feeling of the touch of wool and of animal warmth. This symbol brings together past and future, an overlapping of levels. The Chinese kindly watching the white girl fondling the white lamb. There is charm and ingenuousness in the scene – a vision of WHITE HOPE, a hope for a future that can only be felt, almost naively.”
This Moon does seem to offer hope. We are approaching some powerful Eclipses which include the Jupiter Uranus conjunction in Taurus on 21 April, which is starting to build now. This Moon invites us to turn inward, tune in and listen. There is magic possible here, and if we listen to our dreams, pay attention to the signs, omens and synchronicities, we will be shown the way, even if it seems unclear. Help is at hand if we are open to it and paying attention. It is important to recognise where there is flow and to choose the path of least resistance. This is a time of rest, reflection, release and renewal as we prepare to spring into action with Aries season and its two Eclipses. Ultimately, we are not in control, so we may as well just relax, let go and surrender to the flow of the river. It will take us where we need to go.
Much Love
Amy
